president-elect and to honor our military veterans, law enforcement and first responders, that includes heroes in the commonwealth and around the country. guests danced the night away at the hyatt regency capitol hill in northwest. security measures for tomorrow's historic event are in place on land, over water and in the air. right now more than a hundred blocks of downtown d.c. are closed off to traffic. thousands of fences and barriers are up along the national mall and big heavy vehicles are in place now to stop potential attacks from large trucks like those carried out last year in france and germany. homeland security chief jeh johnson toured the parade route today. he says there's no specific credible threat. getting around today was hard enough. you can imagine it's going to be tougher tomorrow with those road closures in place now. there are also restrictions on what you can take with you on to the national mall. keep in mind, some metro stations are also closed, too. to stay up to date and inhe

for her role in a brutal home invasion. the former lawyer along with her husband were convicted last year. andrew schmuhl stabbed, tasered and shot her former boss leo fisher and his wife sue duncan as he held them hostage inside their home. alecia was in the car communicating with her husband through go phones. schmuhl's defense said she didn't know what her husband had planned. three generations of a family clung together as they remembered vivian marrow. the 68-year-old who used a wheelchair was shot and killed near her d.c. home sunday morning by a man shooting at somebody else. new tonight, news 4's jackie bentsen learned a crime camera near that scene wasn't working that day. >> it could have your mother, it could have your grandmother, it could have been your sister, it could have been anybody.

you know so we can solve this case. >> reporter: they gathered with candles near the spot at the forest ridge apartments on elvins road southeast where vivian marrow lost her life in a horrifying sequence of events monday morning. friends say their hearts ached when they saw this grainy security video taken from a nearby building showing the woman many called miss vivian trapped in her wheelchair unable to maneuver away from the gunman and the man he was chasing. >> my mother loved you guys. >> reporter: her children expressed the family's anguish. ♪ i'm gonna let it shine >> she raised some of y'all out here, you know? my mother gave love. i'm begging you, somebody, please, please, i don't have her no more. >> do what y'all supposed to do. he's an animal out hear what that pistol. i know y'all seen that stuff on

as president obama's time in office comes to a close, many people gathered this afternoon in southwest washington to say thank you. thanks, obama, was held at arena stage from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. the event featured some local artists and a round of applause for the outgoing president. organizers say they came up with this idea back in may of last year. with the moving van all but packed up on the south lawn, mo michelle obama is leaving the place she called home for the last eight years. the first lady posted this video to twitter. you can see her take one last stroll through the halls of the white house. she's joined by the beloved family dogs bo and sunny. social media for the family is under transition as well. moving forward, the president and first lady can be followed on familiar

handles, @barackobama a and @michelleobama. president-elect donald trump will take over the official potus account but trump plans to keep his personal twitter account when he takes the oath of office tomorrow. hundreds of anti-trump protest plans are happening across the country. one has already erupted in d.c. but the women's march on washington is expected to draw the largest crowd. it's estimated about 200,000 people will crowd the district saturday, just one day after donald trump's inauguration but organizers and marchers say their success isn't measured by how many show up, it's what they do after they leave. >> it is something that we hope people carry on not just on the 21st but when they go home that they remember that energy and use it to inspire action. >> some 400 sister marches are scheduled across the country and around the world. former president george w.

it will be coming down just during the inauguration. 41 degrees currently calm winds, not a bad night out there. but it's cool in some areas, 32 winchester, at or below freezing in some areas but that won't affect the rain tomorrow, by early tomorrow i expect most temperatures to rise by a couple degrees as the rain moves in. rain isn't that far off. you can see igt right back here towards eastern kentucky and portions of tennessee trying to move over the mountains. the rain is down towards atlanta, very heavy rain here but the system will fall apart as it moves our rain. so it won't be a heavy rain producer, it's just the timing. 8:00 tomorrow morning, there could be showers, around 7:00, 8:00 that will make the roads wet for that morning rush. give yourself extra time. but it's around that 11:00 hour we see the rain overspread most of the area and i expect it

in around that time, anyway. by 1:00 the heaviest rain moves out. between 11:00 and 2:00 is when we see the rain then it's out of here by 3:00 meaning most of the parade route should be on the dry side although the roads will be wet. some equipment wet, too. tomorrow night into saturday morning the fog sets in and that fog and drizzle could be fairly thick and by saturday morning we mentioned the women's march there could be fog out there, a rather wet conditions on saturday morning too. temperatures on saturday rebound to the 50s. tomorrow 49, periods of rain, steady at times but mostly on the lighter side so that impact tomorrow normally but tomorrow we'll have people out and about so that's why we have it at moderate impact. light rain, jackets, too, it will be a cool rain and much slower commutes around the area and that includes if you're walki
