a white house.gov petition had more than 200,000 signatures calling on the president to release his tax returns. president trump thanked law enforcement figures and others for their support at the white house blue room for a reception yesterday. he called the inaugural ceremony, quote, a safety success. before the event, he began a swearing in of his white house staff and said together they will accomplish great things. with you and all of the people in this room, we are going to do some great things had over the next eight years. 30 senior staffers were sworn in at the white house. the president took to twitter to react to the women's march on washington. on sunday, he tweeted, quote, watched protest yesterday, but was under the impression that we just had an election. why didn't these people vote? then he took a softer tone writing, quote, peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy.

a tough commute for a lot of people today. we'll check back in with chuck bell and sheena parveen in just a minute. and we're keeping an eye on the white house where president donald trump st starting his first full workweek in office. samsung says it has figured out why it's galaxy note 7 smartphones caught fire. investigators say there was a promise with the design and manufacturing of the phone's batteries. they say the large batteries didn't fit into the phone he properly and there wasn't enough insulating materials. samsung stopped selling these phones two months ago after the incidents. it is tax time. theed, irs will start accepting electronic and paper returns. more than 153 million individual tax returns are expected to be filed this year. close to 80% of those will be fired electronically. the dead last this year will be tuesday, april 18th.
