this cruiser towed away. over the right wheel, there is a bullet hole. this stems from an incident that happened about midnight where shots were fired at one of their cruisers. they are looking for a white four door sedan, late 90s, possibly early 2000 sedan. either a mazda or toyota. it has black molding on the doors and they say a passenger window is shot out. it was last seen westbound on georgetown pike. no information, again, about a suspect or any motive behind this. police say they do believe it is a random incident, but they desperately want to find that car after one of their cruisers were shot and apparently hit early this morning. we are live here off georgetown pike. >> derrick, thank you. 5:30 03 now. we want to get to angie goff at the live desk. >> aaron, eun, take a look at this picture we just got from montgomery fire and

morning, probably about an hour and a half ago to two hours ago when they found this had house fire in the 2600 block of hanes road. when firefighters ar arrived on the scene, they say they were met with heavy fire conditions. they were able to get everything out, just putting out hot spots now. they also tell us that there was no one home at the time of the fire. but still no word on what actually caused it, what sparked it. we'll stay on top of it. aaron, back to you. >> angie, thank you. 5:04. it's the beginning of the first full week of trump's new administration. >> the the president will kick off the week with a breakfast and business meeting with business leaders. he will hold a reception with congressional leaders from both parties. a lot of eyes will be on white house press secretary sean spicer's briefing this had afternoon. >> this comes on the heels of his statement on saturday where he accused the news media of falsely reporting the number of people who attended the inauguration. he also claimed it was the biggest inauguration ever. >> this was the

this morning, we're getting a look at the impact the women's march and the inauguration had on our area. on saturday, more than 1 million people used metro for the women's march. that is the second busiest day in transit agency history. metro served more than 2 million passengers from friday to sunday. general manager paul wiedefeld congratulated them on safe ridership service. d.c. based charity martha's table is asking for people to donate unused cards. they will give them to people the to take advantage of their no cost clothing or food programs. you can drop off or mail unused cards to martha's table. let's go to angie goff with some new information on deadly storms down south. hordes of peoplee

up to a trail of devastation and destruction. storms ripped across the state of georgia over the weekend. we know that 14 people died in this state alone, along with four others in mississippi as the storms swept through the south. entire homes were ruined. trees, power lines knocked to the ground. more than 20 people reported injured. president trump saying those impacted by the severe storms will get help from the government in georgia. right now, much of florida, though, is under a state of emergency bracing for powerful storms there and possible tornados. aaron. all right, angie, thank you. it's 5:08 right now. united airlines is flying again this morning. domestic flights were grounded due to a computer outage last night. the faa says that outage came down to low bandwidth. united says international flights were not affected by the ground stoppage. it took about two hours, but flights out of reagan national and around the rest of the country resumed around 9:00 lat night. two of the best quarterbacks in the nfl are about to face off

the driver was stuck inside as flames and smoke were coming from the hood of the car. the driver said that she had just driven over a patch of ice when her car shut off and burst into flames. similar life saving scene played out in our area. >> yeah. corporal angelo piaza saw a big plume of smoke. he raced toward the crash and found a semi and a car in flames there. the truckdriver managed to jump out, but the other driver was trapped. piazza and some strangers sprang into action, grabbing fire extinguishers and getting down to work. >> another citizen used my knife to cut the driver's seat belt off and that is when we started working to get them out of the vehicle. >> i think it's great that citizens

on georgetown pike in great falls. >> derrick ward w joins us live from the scene with the car police say they're looking for in connection to the shooting. derrick. >> yeah, indeed. and we've got a bit more information about how all this started. this is georgetown pike. it started with a traffic stop just a bit dune the road there. i want you to take a look at some video. this is the cruiser. if you take a look, it's being taken away from here. police took it away a short time ago. it has a bullet hole over the rear wheel on the passenger side. police say around midnight, that police tried to pull over a car. as they pulled it over, the passenger got out of the car and ran. the cruiser started to follow that passenger. the cruiser turned around and started heading back towards the police cruiser. police say someone inside that car shot several times through the glass at the cruiser. they did hit it at least
