targeted. >> good morning, everybody. >> we begin this morning with the snow that delayed and canceled a lot of schools around the area. we have crews driving through the region as the snow fell and for the most part it didn't stick to the roadways, only the grassy areas. >> live look from storm team 4's weather deck outside where we got a nice coating here. areas to our south got more snow, up to 2 inches in some places, sheena fparveen has how much melting we can expect. >> not much through the day today. it's going to stay cold. we're not going to see the sun and we have flakes falling right now. temperatures will be staying in the 30s through the afternoon. it's going to be a cold one. if we zoom in look at the district near alexandria, mount vernon, brandy wine, this is where we have light flakes falling. even if we head farther north, this is all continuing

mostly from west to east. a few more snow showers passing snow showers in the forecast for i think the next few hours and it will start to see things drying up. 34 degrees is the temperature in the district. 32 in gaithersburg. it is still cold, right around freezing for most of the area. we'll look at the next chance for snow showers and next warm-up ahead. >> president trump is once again defending his controversial immigration crackdown. >> he took to twitter this morning arguing that the number of people impacted was small. the president writing, only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. but also took a shot at pro testers and democratic new york senator chuck schumer, blaming them for the chaos at the airport. >> it was done in such a sloppy and careless way, major agencies and border patrol customs didn't know about it. there were major holes in how

envelope. even for those for this -- i'm o supposed, the way it was done created chaos. >> schumer will ask for a vote on the senate floor to repeal the president's executive order. >> those new tweets on come after thousands voiced concerns about the executive orders and call the orders un-american. protests happened mostly inside airports from los angeles to new york to houston to orlando and dulles international. the executive orders temporarily restrict entry into the u.s. from the seven countries highlighted on the screen, iraq, syria, sudan, libya and somalia and yemen, all predominantly muslim countries. the president insists this is not a muslim ban and the syrian refugee program has been indefinitely banned. >> the protests aren't over yet. this morning,

washington. molette green was there when it happened. she joins us live along pennsylvania avenue. what's happening there? >> reporter: pat, their message was very simple, no muslim ban. a large banner says it all. about 50 pro testers staged a short demonstration with a big message for the president and the u.s. customs and borders patrol office steps away. >> i'm here to say this is ungodly. this is not -- this is kind of behavior that is soulless and it's terrible to put on people. >> the demonstrators here say this protest which lasted less than an hour and blocked traffic coming into washington on 14th street at pennsylvania

carraway pled guilty to 15 charges of sexually abusing 11 charges. carraway is still facing 270 other charges. we now know a man hit by a car in the district last night has died. police shutdown the northbound lanes ever connecticut avenue at n street northwest for several hours. it happened just south of dupont circle. police haven't released the victim's name yet. the road has been reopened. >> also developing right now, another drugstore robbed in montgomery county. this time it was a rite-aid that was targeted by a robbery last week. county police say the store was robbed not long after midnight. this is the man they are looking for right now, police believe the same guy robbed two different cvs stores in bethesda and you're looking at video from the corner of bradley boulevard and

breaking news in the live desk, montgomery county fire on the scene of a bus crash. the bus is rear-ended by another vehicle. there were people on board. there are reports of several injuries here this morning. right now the roadway we're talking about, connecticut avenue at knowles is shut down while montgomery county fire and rescue work on those. more details as we get them. >> five people are in critical condition right now in canada and six families grieving after a deadly mass shooting in a mosque. >> six people were killed while they were praying yesterday. police arrested two suspects. this is new video when they tracked down one of them. they say he called 911 and gave

himself up. this morning the premiere expressed solidarity with the muslim community. >> we are with you. this is your home, you're welcome here. we are also connected. >> more than 50 people were in the mosque when it happened. this morning the nypd said it's increasing secure around other religious buildings because of the impact. >> prince george's county police are planning to release the names of three co-workers inside a bowie restaurant. police tracked down the suspect at his home in silver spring and say 40-year-old moy is in critical condition after he shot himself. police say this all stems from an argument between employees. expected to hold a news conference. check the washington app for in updates. >>

on lee highway this morning. since the bar was closing -- at some point after that two people were taken into custody. >> intense flames ripped through the roof. it happened in the early sunday morning hours. investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire. it had already been scheduled for demolishment and wasn't used for students. some measures to regulate and tax marijuana in maryland will be meeting today. makes the drug legal for adults 21 and older and would regulate the sale. another bill would tax nonmedical pot. in 2014 the general assembly decriminalized marijuana.

getting back to normal after a computer outage. the airline canceled 150 flights since last night and says more cancellations may happen today. check your flight before you head to the airport. delta is giving passengers waivers in august delta experienced a computer outage that caused 2,000 flight cancellations. >> the car sharing service car 2 go is expanding the current fleet in d.c. and arlington. two new mercedes bens model will be available. it helps minimize road congestion and green house gas emissions. they launched in the district in 2012 and has more than 59,000 members. starbucks is reacting to president trump's temporary immigration ban. the coffee giant says it's going to hire 10,000 refugees in its stores over the next five years. ceo howard schultz said the company will hire employees worldwide and here in the u.s. the focus will be t

will be fairly dry out there but don't be surprised if you see a few flakes around. still the chance of a snow shower but cloudy skies and 36 degrees by noon. 4:00 p.m., maybe flurries possible but again, not a big deal, upper 30s by 4:00 p.m. and 6:00, cloudy and cold and 36 by then. here's a look at the radar, a few light snow flakes falling in parts of prince george's, brandy wine as well, it will head east mostly. in parts of mount gntgomery cou seeing flurries as well. still showing maybe a few flakes across the area, pretty much dry through tonight. then early tomorrow morning 4:00 a.m., we'll have one system passing to our north. there's a chance it could try to drop a few flakes down but not going to be a big deal tomorrow morning. 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon tomorrow we'll be dry and

emotional changes. maybe you're being impatient or lose interest in things you once loved before. >> let's talk about working on stress. you say first start and end your day on a positive note. what do you suggest? >> yeah, i actually recommend when people wake up in the morning, they immediately think of something that they can be grateful for. for some people that's helpful to actually write it down or write a little note next to the bedside to remind yourself when you wake up. at the end of the day, think of what good things happened. >> it really is that easy. aren't complicated things to think about in most cases. folks should use your own breath to slow down a little bit. >> it's interesting, when we use our own breath, we tell our mind it's okay and start to slow our nervous system down. you can do that simply by increasing your exhalation, that's the most important thing or breathing down into your belly. most of the

in our upper lobes of our lungs. >> interesting stuff. you also say write down your feelings, a lot of people don't -- they go to phones first to put things down but take the time to put things on paper. >> i think there's a lot that is to be said by actually hand writing in a journal. some people don't like to handwrite in a journal or maybe recording yourself on your phone or an audio clip only for you. any time you're feeling stressed or exhausted orangery, if you actually allow those feelings to come out, it allows better thoughts to come in. >> just to get them out. >> absolutely, you can think of it as a container. you're emptying it into a container rather than maybe texting someone you care about that you don't want to empty that into. >> good point. save that text and don't get in trouble later. the last thing, try to create small weekly intentions. >> yeah, so if

degrees. oh, fun. >> the current temperature -- the actual temperature is 35 but we're looking at cloudy skies. we saw the snow this morning and had about an inch and a half in arlington, 2 near frederick, enough to give a pretty good coating on cars and grass and sidewalk. most of that did melt unless the roads were untreated then we saw that sticking. as we go through the afternoon it's going to stay cold. temperatures staying in the 30s, we're mostly in the mid 30s now and lees burg at 36 degrees. 38 in annapolis, 36 in fredericksburg. for today, you see it on radar, we have passing snow showers and we can still see some through the next few hours. we have them right now to the south and east and parts of prince george's and brandy wine seeing very light snow flakes falling. kind of scattered in parts of montgomery county but those are starting to leave the area. not going to be a big deal for the rest of the day today b

tomorrow morning and wednesday morning. here's 1:00 p.m. today, could still see passing snow showers and dry evening commute though, then we go to early tomorrow morning. another system passes up to the north. there's a chance a few snow flakes can move in. i don't think it's going to be a big deal. by the afternoon we're dry and not as cold as today either. take a look as we go through the next few days, normal high is 44. today in the upper 30s. tomorrow we'll start to get above normal around 49, wednesday 47 and by thursday we're closer to normal around 43 degrees. for today, 39 degrees, it's going to stay cold and little bit below normal. passing snow shower possible, cloudy skies, then tomorrow, not as cold, 10 degrees warmer, wednesday at 47 degrees, chance of a few early showers there. by thursday and friday we're dry and sunny but we're colder into the weekend. we're talking about the upper 30s next chance comes on sunday. thank you, sheena, more

montgomery county, derrick ward has the latest. derrick? >> reporter: we can tell you now the good news is that there were no serious injuries. take a look here. this is the afterman math the car was just towed seconds from now, saturn, early to mid late model saturn. pete, tell me the details of this. >> a little before 11:00, a rear end type collision, a saturn ran into the bus and an ensewuing fire. the drivers were able to get out. there were passengers on the bus, none seriously injured. they were evaluated by ems personnel. the driver of the bus was transported as a precautionary nonlife threatening injuries. we did have all lanes of northbound connecticut avenue were blocked for almost an hour or so. but just recently op

"fences" was a big hit last night. viola davis won best supporting actress and denzel washington won for best actor in "fences as well. we're saying we saw "fences" powerful performances by everybody in the movie. >> everybody in the movie. and so wasmanchester by the sea. casey affleck's performance was very powerful and it was intense. there's a lot of good competition. >> we'll see how the oscars turn out. >> kirk cousins was trending this morning. >> inside the 40 and 30. look at cousins -- >> he was trending after this performance in last night's pro bowl. it was all because of this play which came after he threw
