this is a story you'll see only on news 4. our cameras were there when venus returned home. >> her family had no idea where she was or whether she was safe. >> more on this emotional reunion. >> reporter: just hours affair fax county police raised this oa critical missing persons case she came home on her hone bringing with her hugs, tears and even a valentine's gift for her mother. this happened just about 9:00 or so last night when she came back to her home just as news 4's derrick ward were speaking with her mother about her being missing. the two shared long tearful hugs during which she apologized for running away after a dispute with her mother. she says she was safe in her month away though she did not say where she was.

suspects, but for now, that's the latest from the live desk. back to you. >> a new report from the new york times down a big talker on capitol hill today. the paper reports that trump's campaign officials had repeated contacts with russian intel swrejens officials in the year before the election. phone calls intercepted at the same time that officials discovered russia was trying to disrupt the election by hacking into the democratic committee. nbc news has not confirmed the details in the times report. and if fallout over michael flynn's resignation is growing this morning. members of congress want to know more. meanwhile u.s. officials say that fbi agents interviewed flynn about the calls a few days before he came the national security advisor. that was part of the agency's investigation into russia's attempt to influence the

face to face with benjamin netanyahu today. it is his first meeting as president. netanyahu will head to capitol hill for several meetings. you may see more d.c. flags flying high today. that's because activists will be asking to make d.c. more safe. act vits will also be lobbying to prevent the new assisted suicide law from being struck down. a house committee voted in favor of a resolution that would get rid of it. today it is out with the old at metro. the transit agency retiring its first 4000 series rail car. it will be loaded on to a truck this morning. back in november metro pulled those cars from being used in

area. not a big chance for any accumulating snow coming our way. i looked back through the record books. keeping track of snowfall records since 1888 and only 36 times, roughly 25% of the time we don't even get an inch of snow in february even though almost 6 inches is an average amount. so far this february not even an inch of snow. if we're not going to get an inch of snow and i don't see anything but 60s over the weekend. it is 40 in washington under a cloudy sky. southerly breezes will help to warm things up later today. skies are clearer across southern maryland and a whole lot more cloud cover down to the south of us. you're going to want to go ahead and grab the umbrella because there could be a quick lit chance for a shower just about anywhere today. better rain chances down to the south. so typically cold. getur

to disrupt traffic in fairfax county in the name of natasha mckinney. she was stunned by a taser and died at the county jail. she suffered from mental illness. her death was ruled an accident. protesters plan to block the intersection at the corner of route 29 and route 50. fire investigators are trying to figure out what started this fire. the flames are finally out at the waste facility in lorton. firefighters had been working around the clock to put it out but it was difficult because there was so much trash. the commute is well understood way and chances are you drive over a bridge or an overpass. >> over more than 1,000 bridges in d.c., maryland and virginia were marked structurally deficient. we're joined now live in prince george's county.

you. you know, so we have this long list of bridges across the d mechanic v labeled structurally deficient. it's likely of course a bridge that you cross every day is in need of some sort of repair. just this morning we shot some video over the beltway at 214 central avenue and as chopper 4 goes around and our crews go around, we are on bridges all the time. this federal analysis found more than 1,200 bridges in the dmv. more than 1,200 are in need of a key element of repair. some of those include the inner and outer loop over the beltway over suitland parkway. the arlington memorial bridge just to name a few. they say they have a key element that is in need of repair but it is important to note it doesn't mean they are unsafe or in danger of collapse. these numbers are actually below
