the white house is denying a report that it plans to use the national guard to round up undocumented immigrants. the a.p. says it obtained a memo detailing the use of 100,000 guard troops from washington state to louisiana. president trump called it 100% not true. immigration raids appear to be picking up steam under the trump administration including here. >> news4 was first to report that immigration and custom enforcement agencies detained some men as they left the local hypothermia shelter. >> reporter: for the third time in two weeks ice agents were at this annandale apartment complex making arrests of undocumented immigrants. it was the arrests in the southern part of fairfax county last week rig

protesters are missing the bigger picture, that these ice arrests are making the community safer. going down to mar-a-lago for the weekend is becoming a trend. it's costing the secret service and taxpayers a lot of money, especially when you consider the president isn't the only trump that agents have to protect. today the "washington post" did an in-depth story about the cost of protecting the family. this weekend alone what we're looking at, you know, agents are deployed at the white house, they are deployed at mar-a-lago, they are deployed at trump tower. all of that is just here in the u.s. they're also traveling to the united arab emirates so eric and don jr. can attend the opening of a trump golf course. three prior trips to the florida resort probably cost in the neighborhood of $10 million. it includes money for the coast guard to continuously patr

associated with securing a seaside resort, everything from tents and light towers as well as porta potties and golf carts. the nypd officers are most affected day in and day out. some of the smaller departments like palm beach police are also dealing with scheduling changes and over time. don't forget about the small town of bedminister, new jersey where the president has a golf course. some of these departments are asking to be reimbursed by the government. what's the bottom line? judicial watch reports it costs about $97 million to protect president obama over an eight-year period. at this rate, that number could be in the hundreds of millions for president trump. it's been anothero

here in washington. how the drama of the white house is resonating the voters across the country. there is progress to report at the d.c. public school that's been closed because of bedbugs and rodents. savoy elementary in southeast will reopen later this month. according to the school's facebook page, the building has had a thorough cleaning, carpeting, pillows and other soft materials have been replaced. the school will reopen on monday, february 27th. the deep cleaning started earlier this month. as a precaution, students have been attending school in another building five miles away. the west coast has been bombarded with rain this winter. the latest storm came through thursday and triggered heavy flooding in washington state. more storms are on the horizon and some could drop 5-10 inches of rain over the next few days. that leads us to storm team 4 and some changes coming just in time for a long weekend. >> you mentioned those storms in

tests we're hearing from pregnant women and doctors who cannot believe that zika tests for more than 400 people were botched by the d.c. department of forensic sciences. brandon and melissa, eight months pregnant, found out their zika tests were mishandled by the lab meaning the couple was told their tests came back negative for the virus. now they don't know 100%. they moved to d.c. from miami to get away from the zika outbreak down there. >> we did everything we needed to do. we left miami. we escaped zika. we moved here. we got all the testing done that we needed to get done. and we're told you're in the clear. >> reporter: the baby looks healthy in the ultrasounds but they'll have to wait a few weeks to get those new test results back. the cdc is doing those retests while the lab here does an internal review

matter. 46% didn't care about age. what did they look for? anyone flashy. 45% said nice clothes or jewelry first caught their attention. >> if they wore like shaggy clothes and gym clothes, i wouldn't bother. >> reporter: about a third looked for those who might not fight back. one out of four said they targeted anyone who looked lost or drunk. most attacked on the streets or inside or outside a building. 27% preferred the subway. >> i would be on the platforms closer to the subways, the tunnels. that would be my get away, inside the tunnels. >> reporter: that's why it's safer to stand in the middle of the platform. we're all surrounded by surveillance cameras in the city but the muggers said that gives people a false sense of security. nearly three quarters of the muggers we surveyed said they didn't mind being caught on camera. they just hide their faces.

speak at a massive campaign style rally in orlando saturday. for the second straight day, tens of thousands of people are expected to skip work to protest the trump presidency. today's demonstration is being called a general strike. at least 100 rallies are underway in 30 states and even in mexico. the idea was float bid the advocacy group strike for democracy. yesterday restaurants and other businesses shut down across many major cities to try to show the impact that immigrants have on the u.s. economy. a week of ups and downs is coming to an end. started off really cold this morning, then really warmed up. amelia is in the storm center trying to track all of these changes. >> for the most part we're only looking at ups from here. highs this afternoon around 50 degre

some new numbers out today show the impact the flu is having around the country. 29 children have died so far this flu season. 46 states are reporting widespread activity right now. the cdc reports only colorado, hawaii, oregon and utah are designated at a step below widespread. the cdc also says this current flu vaccine is only so-so. it's shown to only protect people half the time. this weekend is your last chance to see bao bao at the national zoo. the giant panda's trip to china is now just days away. the national zoo's prize panda will leave washington on tuesday morning. she's leaving for china to be part of a conservation program. the zoo has a busy schedule for her and for visitors this weeke weekend. i shared a survival guide to visiting

a florida man is in jail accused of a bizarre plot to put bombs in target stores up and down the east coast. >> it's worry some. >> reporter: federal agents say mark barnett is accused of master minding a scheme to put bombs in ten target stores in different states across the east coast to drive down the company's value and buy its stock cheap. investigators claim barnett build deadly bombs inside pasta and breakfast food boxes using gun powder. they say barnett tried recruiting someone to put the
