with breaking news about a plane crash in australia. >> yes, we want to tell you about the embassy right now working closely with australian officials trying to help the families of the victims. video footage shows burning wreckage right there. this is actually after the point of impact. you can see that huge cloud of smoke. the fire ball in the sky. and as you take a closer look at the damage done and the wreckage, you can see pieces of that plane scattered across the shopping mall's parking lot. this as that big cloud of smoke continues to rise. the charter plane carrying four americans and an experienced australian pilot slammed into the building and exploded after taking off at a nearby airport. we know all five on board including two texans were killed. no one on the ground was hurt. the mall wasn't open yet. officials saying that this

the worst aviation accident in 30 years and it is still too early to say what caused it. bao bao is enjoying her final few hours at the national zoo. at 10:00 a.m. she'll be loaded on to a truck and taken to dulles international airport. >> it is there where she will board a one of a kind plane. this is going to be a first class trip for bao bao. she's on a private nonstop flight to her new home in china. more on bao bao's trip today. >> reporter: hey, how are you doing, guys? guess what? the zoo is closed to the public until noontime to allow for bao bao's departure from the zoo. here's the plan from the zoo. keepers and the fed ex panda team will then arrive at dulles airport sometime before noon for that

it's going to take about 14 to 16 hours to get there, and when they do -- during the flight of course she will be flying in style, i should say inside a custom built enclosure where she can play, she can move around and she can be able to eat lots of treats. we saw just how playful she was yesterday when the public came out for the final visit before bao bao makes the trip. and she rolled around and she jumped from tree to tree and she was scratching and she was playing. just looked like she was putting on a show to say good-bye to all of us. the specially outfitted 777 freighter, it's a fed ex panda express freighter i should say. it it's going to be able to accommodate all her needs including the carry on luggage that she needs to eat during this flight. bao bao does leave behind

he's expected to carry out president trump's plans to downsize the epa. coming up we'll have details on the president's new national security advisor. the tsa is being accused of failing in two different ways during a security lapse at new york's jfk airport. now passengers are among those looking for an explanation. yesterday 11 passengers walked right through an unmanned security check point without being screened. surveillance video shows three of those passengers tripping the metal detector and they weren't given a secondary screening. it took tsa two hours to even report the incident to airport police. in a statement the tsa says in part, a canine team was present at the check point at the time of the incident and we are confident this incident presents minimal risks to the tror

breaking news overnight. a deadly accident is impacting your commute in northern virginia. >> american tourists killed. a plane nose dives into a shopping center. >> black history month visit. president trump is getting a personal tour at one of our most popular museums. it is 6:29. a deadly crash investigation underway on route 28. we're monitoring the traffic here in herndon. here's a live look at chopper 4 at this hour. justin finch begins our team coverage right now. >> reporter: this is now a fatal single vehicle wreck investigation. one woman dead and one male driver now facing dui charges. the backup continues here on route 28 northbound. the loudoun county sheriff's office remains here on scene investigating the scene

here. this is where this all begins, a jeep crashing into that median and that there is the jeep involved at the heart of this investigation. we know two women were ejected from that jeep. one has died, the other did survive but is injured and expected to survive from her injuries. as you can see they're prepping now to remove that jeep here from the scene. the male driver here was injured as well and he is now facing dui charges. this all happened about 2:00 or so this morning. the investigation has congested traffic here for some time. we're watching cars being diverted on to the dulles toll road here from route 28 northbound which is closed here in this particular area. i know melissa is tracking this back in the studio. i'll send it now in to her. >> so let's take another live look here from above. looking at chopper 4, you can really see these delays here this morning. really backed up right no

three and a half years. they will be lifting her giant crate with a forklift, and then putting her in those trucks and taking her to dulles where she has a 1:30 flight for a nonstop 14 to 16-hour trip to china. she'll be flying in style of course in a custom plexiglas enclosure inside a specially outfitted 777 fed ex panda express, big enough for her to be able to move around, play, eat, on board, she'll have 70 pounds of treats. that's considered her carry on luggage and they made sure to map out the flight path for the easiest experience for her. of course, as i said, nonstop flight and fed ex of course absorbing the entire cost of this first class trip. it's a really big effort and very emotional

things -- deportation hearings could be accelerated. guideline from the agency are expected to be announced today. president trump is also expected to announce a revised travel ban this week. today maryland lawmakers are debating a major change to how sexual assault cases are prosecuted. last night hundreds gathered for a women's rally outside the state capital in annapolis. a hearing will be held today on a bill that would allow prosecutors to bring up a defendant's past sexual aggressive behavior. the tsa is being blamed for a serious security lapse at jfk airpo airport. catherine has more on the breach live from jfk. what happened? >> reporter: a lot of people asking how did this happen? first of all, kennedy airport like a lot of the airports, you can't even drive up to the dropoff pickup area without

is it that 11 people made it through security without being stopped? at this point the tsa is still looking for eight of those 11 people who went through security without being screened. 11 people in all. they were traveling through the terminal 5 here which is the jet blue terminal. they managed to walk through a check point without being screened even though their carry on bags were screened. three set off the alarms of the metal detectors yet they were not given a screening. it took two hours for them to report it to authorities. by that time the passengers had taken off on their flights. one of the check points was about to open but it was not fully staffed yet passengers were able to go through it. we're also hearing from the tsa. it says it is thoroughly reviewing what happened, how the process failed. it also said that possibly the employees involved in this might be disciplined and also
