time of year. normal is at 49 degrees. tomorrow, rain comes and we drop big time going into sunday. now to that story developing hour by hour. police officers not in the district and the suspect killed. we have live team coverage. we wanted to started with megan mcgrath near holbrooke street in the northeast. >> the shooting happened last night at the intersection behind me, the trinidad anybodihood. we still don't have much in the way of detail in terms of what led up to the gin firunfire. officers came here because of another shooting. when they got here, there was more gunfire. >> reporter: many residents were winding down for the evening when sde

was dead and two d.c. police officers wounded. >> seven or eight bangs. a few sirens and then half the cops in the city. >> reporter: it happened around 10:40 at the intersection of holbrooke and morse street in northeast. the officers with the crime suppression team came to the area after shots were fired earlier. once at the intersection, shots rang out again. a suspect was killed, the two officers hit in the lower body. police say they found a gun which they believe belonged to the suspect. residents say there have been problems with drugs and other shootings in the neighborhood, but this is extreme. >> it's not even safe to bring your children, let them play, don't have to worry about nothing. now you have to worry about your child getting hit. >> a video has been posted on twitter taken by a man in the area at the time of the shooting. take a look. the video shows ju

it was shot from a distance. and at times it is difficult to make out exactly what's happening. we are airing only the portion that happens after the gunfire has ended. because of the disturbing nature of the video. in an earlier portion of the video, gunshots can be heard while police are interacting with the suspect. it's not completely clear what exactly happened. now, a spokesperson with the police department says they're aware of the video, but he cautions this only shows a small portion of what happened, and does not necessarily show accurately the full picture. their investigation continues into exactly what happened. now, with more on the officers' conditions, they were taken to an area hospital after being shot, we'll go to my colleague, justin finch. >> megan, that's right. those officers spent the overnight here at medstar washington. one recovering from

that shooting left both with lower body wounds. this morning the mayor arrived to visit the wounded as well as fellow officers holding vigil. peter newsham did come by to visit as well. moments after they were shot last night, police say those two officers were brought right here to medstar awake and breathing. at least one was driven here in the backseat of a police cruiser. one officer went right into surgery, likely to remove a bullet. the second may have injuries which include a leg wound. this morning both are stable and in good spirits. as they recover now, their accounts of what happened will become wicritical in the shooti investigation. >> the two best witnesses that we have that we know of now are the two officers, and they're at the hospital. it will take us some time before wen

them and detail as to what transpired. police sources confirming to us a short time ago, those officers are resting and continuing their recovery and remain in stable condition. we're live at medstar, justin finch, back in to you. >> thank you. it was a violent night in the district. four people were hurt in three shootings on wheeler road in southeast. the shootings happened within a couple hours of each other. one witness that we spoke with said he heard eight gunshots. police have not released information on the victims or the suspects in these cases. now disturbing new information about a deadly shooting on butler road in clinton, maryland. prince george's county police say a mother killed her 17-year-old son. they charged angelique chase with second degree murder and assault. police say she admitted to shooting her son, christopher perry. this happened during an argument between the two last night. chase is 48. perry was 17 years old. nearly half of

be on the lookout for fake money. here's how you can protect yourself. police recommend using counterfeit detection pens or uv light detection devices. plus also recommend doing something as simple as posting that sign, write on that sign that you use special detection devices. and be cautious if someone uses a large bill to make a small purchase. investigators in california are trying to figure out what happened in an off-duty l.a. police officer's front yard that you're witnessing here. this cell phone video shows a scuffle between him and a group of teens before he pulls out a gun and fired a single shot. though it looks like he fired into the ground, he could still face criminal charges. >> let go of me. >> reporter: anaheim police say this is the first physical

off-duty l.a. police officer and a group of teens after a series of previous complains about neighborhood kids trampling the officer's lawn. the confrontation quickly escalated as the officer and teen argued. after struggling with the boy for several minutes, the officer was surrounded by teenagers and tackled by one of them before pulling the gun, firing a single shot. police say the officer felt threatened, and made the decision to use force. >> during the confrontation it's alleged the 13-year-old made a threat against the officer that led the officer to believe that he was going to shoot him. >> today city leaders and police are shaken by what they see. though the video does not show the entire encounter. >> i'm deeply disturbed and frankly angered by what it

the two betweteens involved in incident were arrested and released hours later. all could face charges down the road. as anaheim police review this case, so is the lapd where the officer is employed. parents, students, school leaders and taxpayers of mond montgomery county are trying to figure out how to deal with school overcrowding. they met last night to discuss reopening woodward high school in rockville. the plan would be for woodward to handle some of the overflow from walter johnson and other high schools. seniors at maryland and virginia high schools are really prepared for college. according to the college board, maryland seniors had the third highest a.p. exam scores in the country. virginia students were the sixth highest. students in both states had scores much higher above the national average. mi

shed less during this time of year what are these products that we have to help with that. >> a couple different shampoos. one of the main things is to get a shampoo made for pets from your store or veterinarian, and then use it according to breed. >> we have oatmeal shampoo. there are also some deshedding shampoo out there. i use a deshedding shampoo, i notice it has different oils in it to loosen up the fur. >> yes. you can also give your dog fish oil under the advice of your veterinarian, and it can cut down on the shedding. >> let's talk about brushing. brushing dramatically reduces shedding. how often should we be brushing? >> it depends on the breed of your dog. you can brush every day, maybe once or twice weekly to cut d

house. >> hyper allergenic dogs. what are some types of breeds that are hyper allergenic? >> no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, but the low or n no-shedders, are the poodle, portuguese water dog, s schnauzers, and a few others. if you go on the akc website, you can find some breeds. >> with the warm weather and the dogs shedding, cats shedding, we are also seeing pollen levels rise. what can you say about pet allergies? >> pets can be allergic to pollen like people, but the most common pet allergy is to flees. if you keep your pet on a monthly flee and tick prevention, you can prevent that. some dogs are allergic to pollen. some dogs are allergic to the
