they all received bomb threats today. >> two of the schools are here in the auguwashington area. they each got the call this morning. >> mark segraves is live in rockville to tell us what happened here. >> reporter: good afternoon. things are back to normal here at the charles e. smith jewish day school. earlier this morning montgomery county police were on this campus looking for a bomb. police were on scene within minutes. about 15 minutes before the threat came to the rockville school, a similar threat was phoned into the gesher school in fairfax. in both cases, no bombs were found. these latest threats come on the heels of dozens of similar

across the country, as well as vandalism at jewish cemeteries in philadelphia over the weekend. >> it's terrible and it's anxiety provoking for the families and the school and people who work here and the students. i think it's a terrible situation that lisexists right . >> reporter: the head of school here at charles e. smith told us they ramped up their security this year beginning in january before this incident actually even occurred or any of the recent bomb threats. police are looking for vandals who over turned more than 100 head stones. the area does not have surveillance cameras. neighbors gathered last night to denounce the vandalism. the

offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. a local mom just appeared in court accused of shooting and kill her teenage son. lawyers say angelique chase has a history of mental illness. chase killed her son, but her defense team says the gun went off by accident. president trump just met with governors from around the country. he gave a few hints about what to expect in his budget announcement to congress tomorrow. your social media feed is probably full of folks talking about that stunning end to the oscars. price waterhouse cooper has apologized to the academy for the envelope mixup, as well as the last and crew of "la la land" and moonlight. another local teenager disappears. >> that teenager is related to

in fairfax county just a couple months after she went missing. >> reporter: she's 18 years old. she danced here for tips. her cousin was murdered by a gang. now the 18-year-old has gone missing, cause for concern. 18-year-old angelica last seen around 9:00 p.m. as she was leaving the wok express in the montgomery village shopping center. on weekend nights the owner says the wok express goes from restaurant to disco. he says angelica would dance here in return for

customers. surveillance video shows her leaving the restaurant, walking alone the down the sidewalk. it also shows a man standing nearby with a cell phone giving her the eye as she passes. it's unclear as to what, if anything, he has to do with this. angelica is the cousin of alexandra reyes, a 15-year-old who went missing from montgomery county months ago, her body found in a wooded area in springfield, virginia. police have charged several ms-13 members in connection with her murder. as for angelica and her disappearance, police say they're working the case. so what about angelica? does she have gang ties? is she in harm's way? coming up at 5:00,

the president plans to increase defense spending by $54 billion and will cover the cost by reducing the budget at other agencies. the president will speak to a joint session of congress tomorrow night at 9:00. you can watch that speech live right here on nbc 4. there's an around the clock cleanup underway today two days after a rare winter tornado. an ef-1 touched down saturday evening in the town of conway, massachusetts. a church and at least six homes were severely damaged. thousands of trees were toppled. it's the first tornado ever to touch down in massachusetts in the month of february. high winds and hail in charles down the

breaking news in montgomery county. firefighters are on the scene of a fire at a restaurant located at the corner of bonifant street and georgia area in the downtown area. >> when firefighters got there, smoke was already coming out of the roof of the restaurant. right now police are diverting traffic around that area. we'll bring you more information. the host of nbc's biggest loser is recovering from a very serious heart attack that left him unconscious for two days. bob harper said

collapsed earlier this month while he was working out in new york city. there was a doctor in the gym who performed cpr. harper was hospitalized for eight days and is still recovering. he's been with biggest loser for all 17 seasons, first as a trainer and now host. your tax dollars going toward the salaries of workers who look at porn on the job. the news4 i-team filed a freedom of information act request to see how often this is happening within the federal government. the i-team found more than 100 cases of federal workers who admitted to surfing for porn while at work over the last five years. scott macfarland is on facebook live right now explaining how and why the i-team launched this investigation. check this out on the nbc washington facebook page. screaming and looting in the streets and r

prosecutors are preparing to file more charges against a man who drove into a crowd of people

nielson rizzuto faces four counts. his blood alcohol was nearly three times the legal limit. people were watching a parade when he plowed into them on saturday. d.c. police received an in-depth review of their handling of the inauguration and the big women's march. the district's police complaints board issued the report to acting chief peter newsham along with the mayor and the city council. it found that police were generally positive and professional in dealing with protesters. but there were concerns that police disbursed irritating sprays and stingers without warning people first. the report also found police arrested some who were not even involved in any of the rioting or the vandalism. but both of those concerns could be potential violations of the department's standard operating procedure. the complaints board issued several recommendations. they

appoint an independent consultant to review the findings. the board also encouraged police to update its s.o.p. to include warnings before deploying irritating sprays. as far as the women's march is concerned, there were very few concerns about that. the report did question whether some uniformed officers should have been wearing those pink hats in solidarity with the marchers. it also found a lack of traffic and crowd control in areas away from the main rally point. the last republican president says the american people deserve to know what contacts the trump campaign had with russian officials. george w. bush made the rare public comments this morning speaking to matt lauer on the today show. >> i think we all need answers. i've never been a lawyer. you know, i'm not sure of the right avenue to take. i am sure, though, that that question needs to be answered. >> president bush said he favors a welcoming immigration policy that upholds the law and he

they slowly move to the south and east across the southern part of maryland, northern neck and the eastern shore by 11:00 tomorrow night. wednesday all this zone here in yellow including west virginia, all of virginia, maryland, the district, this is the zone of potential severe storms on wednesday with perhaps damaging winds, lightning and hail like we had on saturday and heavy downpours as well. that's wednesday afternoon. and look at wednesday's temperatures. after we hit upper 60s on tuesday, soaring into the 70s on wednesday. a blustery wind ahead of that front. that front comes on through likely triggering those strong storms wednesday afternoon. here's the roller coaster ride right back down again. highs in the 50s for thursday. friday will be near freezing in the morning. afternoon highs mid 40s. same thing on saturday. sunday bouncing back up again,

appoint a special prosecutor to investigate trump ties to russia. >> what i've been told is there's nothing there. >> how many people have to say there's nothing there before you realize there's nothing there? >> reporter: russia, your tax dollars, all of it fuelling president trump's upside down approval ratingratings. the top democrat on the intelligence committee agreeing with his republican counterpart that they really see no evidence of ties to russia. on the budget, john mccain saying the president may not be spending enough on the military, while another democrat says trying to balance it with foreign aid and state department cuts is foolish and mathematically impossible. prosecutors and defense attorneys have reached a compromise in the sex assault case against bill cosby. his lawyers wanted to get the trial moved out of suburban philadelphia. the trial is going to stay in montgom

but they're going to pull the jury from another county and they will be sequestered during the trial. cosby is accused of drugging and molesting a former employee at his home in suburban philadelphia. cosby says it was consensual. a new study says d.c.'s public schools are still highly segregated. according to the "washington post" many schools are enrolling almost exclusively students of color. that's despite a steady stream of white families moving into the city. the civil rights project put out this report. the group says city officials haven't done enough to lure white families into public schools. class is back in session at savoy elementary school in southeast d.c. after an infestation of bedbugs and rodents forced student out for weeks. parents have mixed feelings about the quality of the cleanup.

if you want to beat the traffic in northern virginia, you'll have more ochptions to p to do that. >> transportation officials just approved another stretch of express toll lanes. >> reporter: like it or not, express lanes or express toll lanes are now part of the fabric of how we get around in northern virginia. they are here on roads like the beltway, 95. and they are coming to 66 and now the 395 corridor that runs through alexandria and arlington. the commonwealth transportation board recently gave the go-ahead
