whack. that's about all i can say. our warmest february on record is going to be continue to be crazy weather for swings up and down the next couple of days. >> 49 degrees in the district. we have some 30s on the map though. 34 frederick, 43 in lor ton, but as we go through the afternoon we'll be milder today than we were yesterday. so look at the numbers going up to near 60 by lunchtime. we'll be in the mid to upper 60s later on this afternoon. that is going to come with rain later in the day. this morning we're staying dry and most of the day we really are going to stay dry but you will notice the change in temperatures and tomorrow we'll be even warmer in the 70s, but that's also going to come with a risk for possibly severe thunderstorms. let's get a closer look at that with chuck now. >> absolutely just like we had on saturday, temperatures surging way above average. some places could be as much as 30 degrees above average for tomorrow. for today,

as the north american free trade agreement. ahead of the confirmation vote chuck schumer acruised ross of having questionable business ties with russia. he was approved. parents and staff are on alert at three local jewish day schools after bomb threats. the school was forced to evacuate after a hoax call. minutes later other schools also received threatening calls. we'll have a live report on all these threats and how schools are trying to keep students safe. in d.c. wilson high school's principle is asking parents to talk to their children about what could have been a dangerous situation. yesterday a 16-year-old was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to the school in northwest. the student was stopped at a security check point on campus before heading to class. the teen's name has not been released. angie is following some

>> this deadly scene not too far away from dunbar high school. we've had footage here of officers responding to hanover place northwest. this is near north capitol street. a man who has not been identified yet, he was shot right before midnight. police saying that he did end up dying at the hospital. we are still working on getting more information about the victim and a possible motive. eun? thank you. the fbi believes they tracked down a maryland 4-year-old boy who's been missing since last year. matthew carington went missing from maryland back in october. we've posted this picture on our facebook page. it's on my facebook page as well so you can share it. the 4-year-old was spotted over the weekend in birmingham, alabama. investigators believe he's been in that area since shortly after he was missing. the fbi also says carington is with people who are armed and dangerous.

house that was destroyed in this plane crash. this is in california. it happened overnight. three people did die though and two are in critical condition right now. investigators are still working to learn what caused the crash. they say the people on board that plane were coming home from a trip to disney land. the passengers included a husband and wife and three teenagers. injuries at one of rio's famous carnivale parade. at least 17 people were hurt after part of this float collapsed. the parade was delayed but the show went on. this is the second time there have been injuries during celebrations. on sunday 20 people were hurt when a float crashed. oscar oops. after the biggest gaffe in hollywood history. and what female workers say happened to them and how the company is responding now.

as the early sun rises are pleasant. there's a pretty big range in temperatures. upper 30s to low 40s in most of the nearby neighborhoods. so kids going out to the bus stop this morning may want to have that little umbrella just to play it on the safe side. not for rain now but for rain chances that come in later in the day. between now and then temperatures go from 30s and 40s to mid-60s for today. so again, an umbrella, maybe just a little jacket for early this morning. rain drops near cincinnati now. they're only about ten hours away. be ready for those. a complete check of the forecast coming up in just a few more minutes. >> chopper 4 over the top of the beltway at connecticut avenue. so everything there looking pretty good. a brand new problem chopper is going to head to right now. this is 450 at cooper lane. a crash reported in that area here this morning. taking a look at travel times. 270 south, top of the beltway, both of those things looking good. 66 inbound

oscar officials have not said whether they'll make changes with this accounting firm next year. after reports of widespread sexual harassment uber is taking a closer look at its employees. the company just fired the vice president of engineering. he didn't tell executives he's been accused of sexual harassment at his previous job. and uber is not the only company dealing with these sorts of allegations. the company that owns several big name jewelers is being accused of fostering a culture of sexual harass mat and discrimination against female employees. sterling jewelers is being sued by hundreds of former employees. sterling jewelers responded to allegations saying in part, quote, complaints that were reported to the company were thoroughly investigated and action was taken where appropriate. it's now 6:13.

we're sure you probably say this to your kids but here is another reminder for them to not play with fire for the second time in a week a child accidentally started a fire in their home. and fire investigators say this case happened saturday morning. a 6-year-old was playing with matches when his mattress caught fire. everybody escaped safely but the fire caused at least $250,000 in damages. it also came just five days -- or days after a five-year-old died in a house fire. investigators in that case say the child had been playing with a lighter in the garage. 14 after the hour now and a downtown bethesda landmark may soon be up for sale. the owners of tasty diner tell bethesda magazine that they are in talks about selling the property where the restaurant has been since 1958. mariotte announced a plan to build a new headquarters on that same block.

there are no firm offers on the table and he's not even sure he wants to sell. new this morning summer will be a little longer for students in montgomery county public schools. the board of education voted last night to update the district's calendar. school will start on september 5th and end on june 12th. that change follows an executive order from governor larry hogan requiring schools to start after labor day and end before june 15th. all this week on news 4 today, we are trying to help you get less stressed. >> hard to do. we introduced you to a local meditation class in bethesda for kids. angie is taking us back to class and beyond with some specific tips on what you can do with your kids at home. >> and now breathe in and breathe out. >> at just meditate, young minds at work. it's a class just for kids, but their parents not far

so i do feel badly for the ski resorts and those that really want winter weather. however, i also love my flip flops so this is great news for ones that like the milder weather. warmer today than we were yesterday. it has been so up and down and wait until you see the rest of this week. tomorrow we'll be in the 70s. thunderstorms in the forecast. weather alert day tomorrow because some of those storms could be severe and by severe we mean damaging winds. very strong thunderstorms. i'll show you the area that can expect it. current temperatures about the mid to upper 40s. 40 dulles. frederick at 36 degrees but most of us in the mid to upper 40s. locally we're dry. a decent day but later in the day there's an area of rain that will be moving in so for the evening commute i think that's the time when we'll see a lot of the showers starting. here is the severe threat for wednesday. the yellow shaded area which is our entire area, this has been extended farther north and

this is the area where we expect to see some strong to severe storms tomorrow. so any strong to severe storms, lightning, hail and heavy rain, so this will be an issue as we go through the afternoon hours. here's a look at the timing. today we're mostly dry. 6:00 p.m. we'll see some showers develop. 9:00 p.m. they noomove to the south. a line of very strong storms approaching the district. some of those storms could be severe. by 5:00 p.m. that all moves to the south and we're basically drying out all the way through thursday and friday. here is the temperature trend as we go through the rest of this week. yes, you thought we were on a roller coaster ride, well, we have another one in the forecast. 77 tomorrow. we are below average as we go into friday. there you see it. windy thursday, much cooler. coming up chuck will have a closer look at your extended forecast as well. but now let's check the roadways with melissa. >> so chopper made its way over to the situation here. chopper 4 showing us from above here,

many of us have been inside the u.s. capitol for a tour, maybe a school field trip back in the day. this morning we're getting a behind the scenes look at a rarely seen area. matt lauer explains. >> this is called washington's tomb. it's one level below the crypt here at the capitol. now, this is where george washington was supposed to be buried along with his wife mart martha, but he made it clear he didn't want to be buried here. he wanted to be at the family home at mount vernon.

even though there's no body here, this place is still under lock and key. >> you can watch mar of matt's story on the behind the scenes areas as he anchors from the hill today. everyone wants to know what the president will be saying but there are some other news coming out of the white house today, specifically the oval office and advisor kellyanne conway. take a look at this photo. take a look here. it shows president trump meeting with leaders from black colleges and universities and conway has her feet up on the couch. here's a closer look. a lot of people say they're offended that this is disrespectful, telling her to take her feet off the couch. some people are also pointing at the reactions of other people in the room. a couple of people, their faces aren't smiling here and some are taking they couldn't take the meeting seriously. others though in response to all this controversy are saying that these are other photos that they've seen with president obama with his feet up on

forward. and a maryland boy has been missing for five months and the fbi thinks they may have tracked him down. 4-year-old matthew carrington disappeared back in october. the fbi says he was spotted over the weekend in birmingham, alabama. the feds also say carrington is with people who are armed and dangerous. threats to jewish day schools and community centers have been ramping up across the country. >> even three schools in our area have been targeted. justin finch live in fairfax county with a look at how schools are responding to those hoax bomb threats. >> reporter: aaron, eun, these were deemed hoaxes but they are still frightening for parents and students so local jewish day schools and centers are working with police and taking them quite seriously. more than 100 students and staffers were evacuated here at gesher jewish day school after that threat was called in monday

evacuated. charles e. smith school was also threatened with these bomb hoax threat calls at the 9:00 a.m. hour on monday morning. no explosives were found. >> we have been increasing security. we've taken another -- a number of measures. we have local police who are here at dropoff and pickup every day and that's new this year. and that's really in response just to the heightened security concerns that we have. >> reporter: and again, these threats were deemed not credible so gesher and the other schools were given the all clear and there were no reports of any injuries. back in to you. >> thank you. 6:32 now. did a mother's mental health issues play a role the her son's death? prosecutors say angelique

the woman is accused of killing her teenage son christopher perry last week. she's currently being held without bond. >> there was a very serious mental health illness that the mother was suffering and we believe that, you know, now we'll have to investigate and see how this contributed to this crime. >> police say chase shot her son in the chest after they had an argument. prince george's county schools could learn today whether they will get a waiver from the state to begin the 2017-18 school year in august in an 8-4 vote the school board chose to defy the order man dating maryland public schools have a post labor day start. they received a formal waiver request from prince george's schools last night. a formal decision could be handed down as early as this morning. the i-team has learned this prince george's county case will be closely watched by other districts around the state. montgomery county schools voted for asc

begins post labor day for 2017-18. >> developing this morning, take a look at this. this is the last time anyone saw angelica rivas. this is surveillance video of her leaving work mid shift on saturday. her family hasn't heard from her since. there's been reports that s's been found with family in another state but police have not been able to confirm that. her family here fears for her safety because her 15-year-old cousin was recently murdered. several gang members are charged in that case. a labor dispute is heating up that could impact your ride on metro. the transit agency is trying to limit the number of hours certain members can work to cut down on tired bus and train operators. union members are threatening to leave the metro short staffed. metro may bring in outside contractors to fill shifts. metro and the union are in the middle of negotiating a new

security was about to issue a warrant for her arrest. she was told to go to a fake dhs website and use itunes gift cards to pay a bail bondsman. this morning fairfax county police are trying to figure out how someone ended up dead on a trail in centreville. chopper 4 was over the scene along cub run stream valley park last night. someone found the body just before 6:00. no word on whether the victim is a man or a woman. no details on how the victim died but say there isn't a large threat to the public. some breaking news in northwest washington now. a man shot and killed overnight. we're working to learn his name this morning. the man was shot on hanover place about a block from dunbar high school. when we find out more we will let you know. and just in, there are reports of injuries at rio's famous carnivale parade. the parade was

weather for today into tomorrow. a huge warmup and then a big blast of cold wind comes in for thursday and friday. off to a quiet start this morning. got to love these early sun rises now, but for tomorrow, we do have a slight risk from the storm prediction center out in norman, oklahoma. we were under the slight risk for severe weather potential tomorrow. primary threat will be gusty winds and small hail but there will be just enough spin in the atmosphere where they couldn't rule out an isolated tornado. just a big blast of wind and potentially some larger hail. so here's future weather for tomorrow now. starting at 8:00 in the morning, a lot of clouds around and then quickly a line of storms developing out here on i-81 about 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. that comes racing through the i-95 corridor between 3:00 and 5:00 tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow evening and showers with a few rumbles of thunder fading off as we get toward wednesday night but then a big blast of colder air comes into

friday. so for tomorrow, starting out with temperatures near 60 by this time tomorrow morning. mid-70s at noon and notice those rain chances going up during the course of the day. high tomorrow up near 77 degrees with a howling southwesterly wind. that northwest wind brings in a chance at least for some snow flurries on friday. let's go back to sheena for that. >> temperature range here, 67 today. 77 tomorrow with those late day thunderstorms. then we get cooler and windy on thursday. look at that. 54. we keep on dropping friday, 43. we wake up to the 20s on saturday and another blast of cold air going into the weekend, but your weekend does look good. 70 -- 47 on saturday. 60 on sunday. so once again, it's going to be two different days temperature wise. we keep on warming into the start of next week and we go back down again, so we are just on this roller coaster ride no matter what kind of weather you like, at least we have it in the forecast
