>> five adults and three children had to be taken to the hospital and being r being treated for carbon mob oxide exposure. d.c. police got a call saying people had fainted. their carbon monoxide detectors had gone off. we are being told this morning all the adults and the children are expected to be okay. >> thank you, erica. we're following breaking news concerning attorney general jeff sessions. he is under fire from democrats after his spokes woman confirmed that he spoke with the russian ambassador twice last year while he was senator. sessions was a top policy adviser for the trump campaign. that is one of three major headlines this morning. sessions did not disclose the meeting during his confirmation hearing. he said he never met with russian officials to discuss issues

the wael "wall street journal" examined contact sessions had with russian officials. some obama administration officials worked to preserve evidence of russian hacking. in our next half hour, we go live to capitol hill where news 4's edward lawrence will break this down for us. he'll have more on what the attorney general is going to do in light of these reports. a grim search will continue today in fairfax county. local and ferls agents are looking for human remains. >> now with more on the tips that led police to this park. justin. >> eun, police are taking these tips quite seriously after a series of gang arrests here in northern virginia. and so for a second day, fairfax county police and search crews will resume their search in the

specifically around the 6,000 block of crater place. the initial search involved lemon run park, but nothing was found there. the search themselves are significant because two years ago, police found remains of two people, both reported to have been bruthsly murdered and this new search comes after the arrest of several suspects in the death of a fairfax county man in january. also, his case has been linked to that 15-year-old alexandra reyes found dead in springfield, virginia, just last month. her family says she had been a target of the gang ms-13. we are told federal investigators will be with them. >> justin, thank you. also in northern vi

is involved in the murder of a man at an arlington house party. they're still looking for the shooter. monique williams is charged with accessory after the fact in the killing of michael gray. investigators say jason allen johnson is the trigger man. johnson is accused of shooting gray last month in an arlington fashd. a new plan to turn penalties into parks in downtown bethesda could move forward today. to add five acres of green space, you would vo to lose 500 parking spaces off wisconsin avenue. these parking spaces, if they end up going away, the county says they could be replaced possibly by putting parking under any new parks. a portion of the reconstruction project is being

how much longer people will have to use alternative routes. >> good morning. a few months more, not a good situation for people who use beach drive. look behind me here. you can see the close on your. all the barrels and the barricades and the signs. beach drive closed between rock krooel creek and tilden. it was supposed to reopen in the spring, but we have now learned that that is not going to happen. folks are going to have to wait a few months more. krngters will do some multi tasking here. that's going to be more efficient. but it is going to drag out the timeline. we're going to be extending that timeline, what we understand, until august. the good news here is work crews will make improvements to the bike path that runs along beach

eisenhower kidnapped and killed nicole after meeting her online. her body was killed three days after she went missing. he was charged with helping hide the body. a prince george's county mother is pleading for help to find her daughter's killer. 18-year-old shamika woods was shot sunday morning. she was found lying in an intersection by a neighbor. her mother wants the killer to hear this message. >> you're heartless. you took someone's life. you took my flesh and blood. you took my older, my first born. >> prince george's county police are following up on leads in this case. they're asking anyone with information to give them a call. it's 5:12. lawyers for joaquin "el chapo"

>> just go foster a cat. it is going to get a lot colder as we go through tonight. today we'll start with this morning because it is blustery outside. we're not talking about blustery with temperatures in the 30s. we're in the 50s. well, mostly the 40s. but around 50 in the district. so your morning compute, the impact this morning, not too bad, but it is very gusty out there. so while you're driving, you might feel the car tug a little bit. but recess, a jacket possibly because it's so windy, kind of chilly. if you're exercising long sleeves, the evening commute is still blustery as we go through the evening hours. win gusts, anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour. this morning, we have a wind advisory, so we could see gusts near 50 or higher until about 10:00 a.m. temperatures are feeling like the 30s in gatingers brurg. approximated at dulles and frederick. in the district, 50 degrees is the temperature.

7:00 p.m., could see a few showers moving into the higher elevations. and then tomorrow afternoon, there's the snow shower activity we're talking about some passing show showers. so if you're planning your friday early in the morning, look at that temperature. 35 degrees by 7:00 a.m., it will feel colder with the wind, passing snow showers even by noon only getting into the mid 40s tomorrow. it will be a breezy and colder day. for today, though, 53, gusty, mostly sunny. as we go into the weekend, we do, in fact, stay dry. but temperatures will only be in about the mid to upper 40s. we get back into the 60s on monday and even warmer as we go into tuesday. lauren will be back with a closer look at your forecast for that. let's check the roadways this

to discuss issues of the campaign and he's calling the reports false. sessions was an early supporter of the president's campaign and served as one of his top foreign policy advisers. what we know is that one of those meetings with the russian ambassador took place in sessions' senate office in september. all of this raising questions about whether he misled senators who asked about the trump campaign's ties to russia during his confirmation hearings. news 4's edward lawrence is going to have more on that in just a few minutes. stay with us. >> thank you, erica. 5:33. today, the fight between a fairfax county school board and a parent will head to the supreme court. the parents say the school system broke the law when they added gender identity sexual orientation to the policies. the commonwealth does not include those identifiers in its discrimination laws. according to dillon

local laws can't be more stringent than the state law. a case surrounding virginia student gavin grim and his fight to use the boy's bathroom at his high school, now the gloucester county school board wants the trump administration to be able to weigh in on the decision. a delay the could allow time for senate confirmation of judge neil gorsuch to the supreme court. the argument is set for march 28th. the school board wants to delay by at least a month. another metro safetrack surge. we're talking about surge 13. it will impact yellow and blue line riders starting this saturday and runs into april. trains from huntington to braddock road station will be single tracking. there will be longer times between trains. metro officials are urging people who look for those stations to look for other ways to get arouhi

anticostia. their carbon monoxide detectors had gone off inside, but we are told everybody will be okay. >> thank you, erika. new details after a deadly accident involve ago pedestrian on i-270. last late night, we learned the name of the victim, shamen pun. the 46-year-old was walking on the highway near the cloper road interchange when she was hit by a tractor-trailer. state police say she was walking in a travel lane at the time and they're still trying to figure out why. this the may have you looking over your shoulder the next time you are out and about. a woman in fredericksburg said she was sexually assaulted inside a restaurant bathroom. and this morning, police are looking for the man spotted running out of that area. this was inside the capital ale house on caroline street two weekends ago. police say a man walked in, struck up a conversation with friends and followed thewo

assaulted her. the suspect said he was in miami and was in the area contract work at a nearby military base. a traffic alert for you now. there is more stress ahead for drivers who need to use beach drive in northwest washington. >> that's because the first phase of the reconstruction project is being extended. news 4's megan mcgrath joins us live now with why this part of the work will take so long. megan. >> well, good morning, guys. beach drive closed between rock creek and tilden. these barriers, the signs, they've been in place since september. and now, some bad news. it's going to be inconvenient. this closure, it is going to drag on a bit longer. now, contractors, they are taking on some additional work in the area. they're going to be doing some d.c. water projects, some other repairs. it's more efficient, but it is going to take longer to do and it will drag the timeline

is not expected to reopen until august. it was supposed to open back up this spring. now, the good news is that the bike path, that multi use path that runs along beach drive now because of the way they're doing things, that path is going to be improved. and it's been in some bad shape, disrepair for a while now and it's a heavily used path. so that is the silver lining here is that that will be upgrait graded as a part of all this. but bottom line here is for people who use this stretch of beach drive, it is going to be august, not spring, before you're going to be able to use it before things open back up. it's been inconvenient, the detour in place a bit longer. back to you guys. it's 5:48 right now. finding parking in the district can be a struggle, we know that. and this might make it even harder. from now on, you'll have to pay to park at a red top meter in parts of downtown. paid parking will only be f
