throughout the morning and the day. breaking news at the life desk. this fire in rockville. erika gonzalez is on it for us. >> firefighters very concerned this morning because they can't seem to locate the person that owns this home. this was a fire late last night in rockville on the 16,000 block of willow lane. look at how massive this fire was. this home completely consumed. because of that, firefighters are calling this a total loss. it took 75 firefighters to be able to put this out and, again, the concern still this morning with firefighters staying on the scene overnight is that they cannot seem to find the person that owns this home. >> thank you. developing right now. police are investigating several shootings in the district. you're looking at one of the scenes near the rhode island metro stop. police say five people were

last night and one is a juvenile. police are investigating a shooting on brentwood road and another on rhode island avenue. just a few hours before, police say two people were also shot on fairmont street northwest and police have not released any suspect information and we are told all seven victims have nonlife-threatening injuries. this morning, counselors will be at the potomac high school to help students cope with loss of a classmate. student was shot and killed yesterday. we are not releasing the teen's name because the police have not yet. one student was at a loss of words. >> that is depressing. we just lost a student. like right -- >> police say the teen was shot on iverson street a few blocks west of the high school and they are searching for a suspect and a

more calls this morning for attorney general jeff sessions to resign after revelations that he spoke with the russian ambassador during the presidential election. a small group of demonstrators gathered outside of the white house last night holding signs that read lyin' jeff and sessions lied. this morning, it's unlikely president trump will ask for sessions resignation after releasing a statement calling him an honest man. a series of tweet the president acknowledged that sessions could have, quote, stated his response more accurate to congress and it's saving face for democrats losing an election that everyone thought they were supposed to win. the president said the real story is the illegal leaks of classified information. while jeff sessions will remain attorney general, he will not be involved in investigating ties between russia and the trump campaign. sessions recused himself yesterday from any current or potential investigation. all this follows reports that se

about hearing shots fired in the area and they did find one person dead inside an apartment. this is in forestville on the 7,000 block of donel place and a number of investigators on the scene and they don't think this is random. this morning, they are still looking for a suspect and a motive in this case after one person was found dead inside an apartment there. from the live desk i'm erika gonzalez. we are making calls on a serious crash on landover road in prince george's county. this is traffic camera video right at the interchange with the beltway. prince george's county fire officials tell us an infant was critically injured in this two-car crash the last half hour and two adults were also hurt. we will bring you updates as they come. get ready for slow downs on metro. safetrack surge 13 starts tomorrow and runs through april 9th and impacts yellow and blue line riders. trains

the their solidarity. women are being encouraged to take the day off from work, paid and unpaid labor. the organizers of the women's march on washington are planning a day without a woman demonstration. they say it is a way to highlight the economic power that women hold in the u.s. and global economies. fairfax county police are identifying the officer who shot a man near herndon. the officer shot a man outside his home back in january. he later died. investigators say he shot his brothers and refused police orders to drop a knife he was holding. at the same time smoke was coming from that home and another man was trapped inside. >> the department is supposed to release the name of an officer involved in the shooting within ten days unless there is a threat to the officer or their family. a judge recently ruled there is no threat. the officer is a 16 year veteran of the department. he used deadly force twice in the past in 2005 and

made public and determined to be a lawful use of force. some neighbors in fairfax county are on edge after days of police combing the area near their homes for human remains. the fbi and fairfax county homicide detectives remain tight lipped about what possible murder or disappearance they're investigating in the park. the recent tip led them there. more than a dozen gang members were arrested for two murders in northern virginia but police want say if those arrests are connected to this search. no remains have been found so far. pieces of an army uniform are stolen in the middle of the night. now the fbi is looking for the thief. he was caught on surveillance camera early thursday morning. this is the armed man. he also took a government owned 2015 elan tra. a note left on the building

every high school in virginia. lawmakers passed a bill that adds no means no classes to sex education courses. it calls for age appropriate discussions of consent. that includes what it means to agree to have sex and the legal ramifications of not asking for permission. schools must step in because these conversations aren't happening at home. >> i thought, you know, if the first time our -- our students are hearing about what's appropriate is a college orientation, then we've missed the boat and it's too late. >> fairfax county high schools already have this curriculum. if the governor sign it is bill into law school districts and individual stuntss will dents w allowed to opt out. >> several big name tech companies are taking the side of a transgender teenager. apple and other companies are asking the u.s. supreme court to allow gavin grim to use the
