at these new wikileaks dump. lot of it now not substantiated but we'll have that and a lot more. >> thanks, lester. >> good to stop by. >> lester has more coming up at 7:00 right after this broadcast. now, to the dramatic search for a suspect in greenbelt, maryland. a man wanted for a series of burglaries is reportedly hiding inside the beltway plaza shopping mall right now. that movie theater has been evacuated. just moments ago we got pictures from inside. bureau chief tracee wilkins, the first reporter on the scene, she joins us now with the latest developments. >> reporter: prince george's county police had this suspect under surveillance. when they went in to arrest him he took off from the apartment complex next door to the

you can still see prince george's county police operating there on the top of the academy 8 movie theaters here because they believe that suspect has hidden himself inside of the ductwork here. you can see that a negotiator with the greenbelt police department is on a ladder walking toward the ceiling of the theater in direct communication with the suspect asking this guy to turn himself in. they are worried about this man's own safety. every time he crawls inside the ceiling he is knocking down tiles that are fall into the movie theater. there is a very good possibility he could fall as well. they are officially calling this a barricade situation. >> there was a chase through the mall, all foot chase. the suspect then, i'm told, ran into the movie theater. it was an empty movie theater. he went behind the movie screen,

now currently in the ceiling of the shoe vee theater. we have close to two dozen officers inside the theater as we speak. we've got fire on scene. this is a city of greenbelt police department has a negotiator here who's literally on a ladder speaking face to face with the suspect, who is still not willing to come into custody. >> reporter: this all happened just after 2:00 p.m. now, again, prince george's county police have the suspect under surveillance, watched him break into a vehicle, watched him break into a home, followed him back to his apartment complex here in greenbelt. they went in to arrest this man. that's when he took off to the movie theater. this is now officially a barricade situation. a another wave of bomb threats at jewish institutions across the country today. today at least four centers were evacuated today. it comes as all 100 u.s. senators joined forces

the trump administration to take action. the senators sent a letter to the homeland security secretary, the attorney general and the fbi director, pressing for swift action to deter the threats. more than 100 such threats have been made to jewish facilities in 33 states, including in our area since the beginning of this year. one of those threats happened today at the benter jcc in montgomery county. it's the sixth threat at bender alone. that has lawmakers asking for extra security at local community centers and schools. news4's chris gordon is in rockville tonight with the new measures under consideration. >> reporter: there are 190 young children who attend preschool here at the jewish community center in rockville. their parents say they choose to keep their children here despite the recent bomb threats because they refuse to surrender to ignorance. the bender jcc is now even more vigilant, because of the bo

threats it received today by e-mail. parents of preschoolers here at the jcc have now had to deal with six bomb threats since january. >> i mean, of course there's always a level of concern but the school has been phenomenal at keeping us updated, at making us feel like the kids are safe. >> reporter: last monday the charles e. smith jewish day school in rockville received a bomb threat. as a result, the montgomery county council is now considering a request by county executive ike legget for a grant of $225,000 to help pay for added security at the jcc and the jewish day school. >> i certainly support spending public funds to improve security at faith institutions that may be under threat. because that expands the reach of our police. >> reporter: the county money will be used to help pay for more security cameras. the jcc wants to replace old windows in its school rooms wit

somebody shot and killed a young man today in broad daylight. it happened in an apartment complex just over the d.c. line in suitland, maryland. tonight we're hearing from people who live in that area as police try to figure out who pulled the trigger. pat collins on the scene now just off southern avenue. >> reporter: jim, it took about four hours. the evidence now has been collected from the scene. detectives are out questioning witnesses. there is a lot of police work yet to be done. evidence markers scattered about the parking lot. markers of the explosion of violence here this afternoon. shots fired, a young man down in yet another probroad daylight murder. prince george's county police converged on the

breaking news in prince george's county. just moments ago an arrest as police got the burglary suspect in custody at the beltway plaza mall in greenbelt. they say the man ran through the mall and into the amc movie theater there. we're told the suspect has been hiding above the ceiling in the vents, that he was knocking down ceiling tiles in the process. that theater has been evacuated. that suspect now in

is a story that could impact thousands of commuters. metro could vote as soon as this thursday to raise fares on both rail and bus service. the fare hike would go into effect in july. rail fares would go up 10-25 cents. bus fares would go up a quarter. and parking up 10 cents. on top of that, your metro bus line could be going away for good. metro may cut more than a dozen bus lines to try to close that budget gap. adam tuss is riding along one of those routes in northern virginia. >> reporter: this is the 2t bus. these riders here say they depend on the bus, but it could be on the chopping block. 13 bus routes now identified for elimination as metro tries to close a large budget gap. the transit agency says this is the
