early today starts right now. i'm francis rivera, and we begin with breaking news in kabul where a standoff is under where where gunmen stormed the military hospital near the embassy. what more do we know? >> braking news this morning. an attack on one of kabul's main military hospitals, it's left three dead and more than 66 injured. it is one of the top medical facilities. and it is 2not far from the u.s embassy. the attack is ongoing, there are at least four gunman, probably five, fighting in the hospital. one assailant already blew himself up in order to make room for the oer

surrounded by levels of security. and this one is one of the most secure. the gunmen entered through a back gate, using a suicide bomber to clear the way. they were disguised as medical personnel and used automatic weapons and hand grenades to attack staff. this is just part of what donald trump is inheriting as president. >> thank you. here at home, at least six people are dead after fast-moving grass fires raced through the center of the country. more than a million acres have been scorched across texas, colorado and kansas. in oklahoma. 22 counties were under evacuations. at least 10,000 people evacuated their homes. at least four moreti

of up to 60 miles per hour had increased the risk for wildfires. the situation is still dangerous, but fire activity is slowing across the region. oklahoma's storm prediction center expects the winds to die down tomorrow, making it easier to fight the fires. biloxi, mississippi is reeling after four people were killed in a collision. a freight train slammed into this bus and carried it down the tracks. first responders had to pull some people through windows and use the jaws of life to remove two victims. eight had critical injuries. the bus was traveling from austin to a casino in biloxi. witnesses say the bus became stuck on the tracks, and police say the crash happened at a quote, steep crossing and that they recommended buses not cross the tracks

the enit ntsb has a crew on the. wikileaks released what it says contains the cia's entire hacking capacity to get into your smartphones, your cars, tvs and other electronics. apple this morning releasing a statement saying many of the issues leaked were already patched in the latest phone software. microsoft and google say they're investigating. but for some americans, this could hit closer to home. peter alexander reports. >> reporter: wikileaks posting a giant trove of cia documents that it claims reveals secret techniques. all of it to spy on their owners. nearly 9,000 documents that expose software tools designed to break into android or iphone and bypass secure messaging apps like whatsapp and signal. one

launching banned missiles like it did on monday and the u.s. and south korea should halt their joint military exercises. we're following the story from beijing. tell us what else prompted today's warning. >> reporter: good morning, frances. china's foreign minister sounding the alarm today saying both sides of this looming crisis need to quote cease and desist. what china is now calling for is for north korea to halt its nuclear and missile testing and also for the u.s. and south korea to stop its joint military drills that are currentry under way and also to reconsider deployment of thaad. this is the controversial missile defense system that the u.s. is deploying to south korea. the first parts of it have already arrived and it's due to be operational this year. the u.s. says it's purely for defenses, but china sees it as a way for the u.s. to upset the strategy eck balance in the region, that it will align the

near quantico, a crash blocking the right side. as we head north here, 118 west of darnstown road here, wires down, all lanes blocked. we just got that report in here right now. this has just cleared out of the way. georgia avenue south of 16th street, had an overturned vehicle there and riggs road just west of south dakota avenue, water main break with all lanes blocked there. it was the march that sparked a movement and today the same organizers behind the women's march on washington are encouraging women across the country to stay home from work. and there are a lot of ways the march could impact you. we'll give you a look at what you need to know about today's a day without a woman event. the organizers want women to stay home and take the day off from paid and unpaid labor. the group wants to call attention
