injury crash out here. two cars are involved, a mercedes suv and a white dodge sedan. we're told that dodge was going northbound on indian head highway when it collided with that mercedes. that actually triggered a fire to that dodge. the driver was hospitalized for their injuries. the driver of that mercedes suffered non-life thre-threaten issues and the crash is now under investigation. cars are not allowed to make a left turn southbound on to livingston, nor can currents on livingston turn on to north indian head highway. this crash has been under investigation for some time. at this upon the, two people are involved. we are told both were hospitalized. one, that mercedes drivers suffering nonlife threatening issues. no word on the condition of that driver. back to you. >> justin, thank you. a live look

hard to imagine but at this time tomorrow we will see a lot of snow on the ground in this picture. today, in d.c., 200 salt trucks will hit the streets to coat the roads with salt. this afternoon mayor muriel bowser will talk about d.c.'s snow plan heading into tomorrow. vdot has already started implementing its snow plan. trucks started laying down brine already this weekend. if you live in an area where this storm will begin as rain, crews have not pre-treated your roads yet. they will lay down that salt once the changeover happens to snow. vdot is asking people who don't have to be on the roads today or normal to stay home. one to two inches of snow could fall every hour once the storm begins tonight. >> montgomery county bracing for some of the most snow in the area. meteorologists say 6 to 12 inches could fall in that area. county executive ike leggett tells

clear. >> we have a plan. i hope we don't have to utilize the plan to the fullest extent. it means we'll be hit with a great deal of snow, ice and wind. >> the snow is expected to be heavy and wet, which could mean power outages. because of the snow, metro access is suspending service at 4:00 this afternoon. it will not run at all on tuesday. metro says service will be restored when it's safe to do so. but it is not setting a time for that yet. the metro access call center is contacting affected customers to reschedule trips. when we're expecting snow, you can also expect to see crowded grocery stores. our cameras caught the crowds inside trader joe's. this one on 25th street in northwest d.c. people were stocking up on water and snacks just in case they had to spend a few days at home. one customer toll us the line was outside the door at one point.

i saw the line out the door that i realized the snow is coming and i better stock up. >> if you still need to stock up, you have some time to get to the store after work today. the snow will begin falling after rush hour. >> i'm going after work. tonight's storm could bring good news for maryland's only ski resort. wisp plans to reopen this week after being shut down early due to the lack of snow. the garrett county resort had about five inches fall on friday. this is video of the conditions there last night. wisp is about a three to four-hour drive from downtown washington near deep creek lake. the resort has not said what day it will start welcoming guests. >> make sure you download the nbc washington app. it will tell you when the snow is headed towards your neighborhood. storm team 4 will have updated forecasts around t around-the-clock on the app. our team is also working on air to get you through the storm. we have our serious faces on already. we'll start tomorrow at 4:00 a.m., instead of 4:26.

melissa, dead serious. >> fierce. the man accused of jumping the white house fence friday night is expected to be in court. the secret service says jonathan tran made it on to the south grounds before he was arrested. he claimed to be a friend of the president and said he had an appointment. according to court documents, police found two cans of mace on him. he is charged with entering restricted grounds while carrying or using a dangerous weapon. getting news about a trip the vice president has planned. molette green at the live desk. we know the vice president, mike pence, headed to asia visiting japan and indonesia next month as part of a tour to try to reassure concerns. that is according to reuters. reports say pence will visit tokyo for the u.s./japan economic dialogue there and the tour will take him to south korea and australia. there are some concerns overseas that the president is rolling back barack obama's pivot to asia. trump hlr

the transpacific partnership trade agreement. back to you. >> thank you. it is the start of a busy week at the white house and on capitol hill. here's what we're watching. the house intelligence committee is demanding evidence backing up president trump's claim that former president obama tapped his phones last year. they want the justice department to turn that evidence over today. the president made the accusation on twitter last saturday without providing evidence. president trump is expected to send coming his budget this week. it's expected to include a big boost to defense spending. the associated press reports agencies such as the environmental protection agency and education department could see significant cuts. healthcare is likely to dominate the week again. later this morning the president will hold a listening session on the issue. it comes as republicans try to move forward with their plan to replace the affordable care act. >> you know it will be a busy week for basketball fans. a lot of good reasons to watch the ncaa tournament.

across the country. a jcc outside of rochester, new york is back open after it received a second bomb threat in a week. that's one of six threats made yesterday. so far this year, 130 threats have been made across centers nationwide including in maryland and virginia. it's 5:15. in news 4 for your health, unsuccessful fertility treatments can put a woman at greater resi greater risk for heart tease. two-thirds of wm who undergo th treatment do not become prenapt, a pregnant, and this can put undue stress on the heart. there is a growing number of children injured while using infant products like carriers, strollers and cribs. researchers found an average of 128 kids per day had to make a trip to the emergency room. a majority of injuries are

reverse psychology on mother nature. i love the snow. you know that. snowfall amounts, yes, last year almost nothing in march. the year before, a solid almost five inches. the year before that, 2015, more than a foot in march. so, not all that far out of the question. you're right. neither one of those februarys the last couple of years near as warm as the one we just had. 19 in gaithersburg and mama's ma manassas. we'll be above freezing this afternoon, but this is the area of low pressure headed down for about virginia beach before it makes the hard turn up the east coast. it is going to have wide ranging impacts for a long distance up the i-95 corridor. not only impactful snow around here, but philly, new york and boston also. future weather,

leakly to start as rain, quickly switch over to snow by 9:00 or 10:00 tonight. most of the heavy snow comes between mid night and sunrise tomorrow. here's the one hitch in the forecast. the rain/snow line gets dangerously close to the d.c. metro area. areas north and west should be all snow all time. from 95 south into southern maryland, this could be dicey. a wide range of possibilities. find your hometown. hagerstown, frederick, leesburg, winchester, likely to get a foot or more. inside the beltway, 4 to 8 inches. probably much lower, might even get an inch down into southern maryland. i'll put up to four inches. but again, that's a very big iffy spot in the forecast. the rest of the week will be cold. temperatures in the 30s and 40s. if you're getting a late start today, if you didn't move your watch ahead, time to move it ahead one hour. let's get over to melissa mole

expect a lot of closures over the next few hours because of the coming snow. let's go to storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell before we check in with melissa molette for details on that crash. >> good morning. our last best chance for something can snow arrives by this time tomorrow. storm impacts on the whole, everybody in the news 4 nation gets at least an inch. the vast majority of the viewing area gets 4 inches or more. areas north and west of town, northern maryland, the eastern panhandle of west virginia, likely to get a foot or more of snow. nothing to worry about today. as long as the sun is out today, you have all day to get things done. it's a cold start. ground is frozen again. 18 in frederick, 24 lorton, 22 in clinton, maryland. highs today, above freezing. plenty of sunshine. highs in the upper 30s and low 40

destroyed his riverdale park home. the victorian house went up in flames saturday night. it was more than a century old and had been build by one of the town's earliest mayors. the current owner wasn't home at the time of the fire, but he rushed back when he heard the news. >> right now i don't think i can get one item out of my house. everything is gone. but fortunately no people died. and we'll get back. >> herman's dog was killed in the fire. investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the flames. a hover board fire that killed a little girl is being blamed for the death of a firefighter. this happened in pennsylvania over the weekend. the hover board caught fire while charging. the 2-year-old died inside the home. the firefighter died in a car crash while driving to that fire. this morning two other kids are recovering from serious injuries. you may have seen this next video on social

an uber and lyft driver was assaulted by more than a dozen dirt bike riders on a san francisco highway. cell phone footage shows the bikers dragging alex quintana from his car. now we are hearing for h ing fr the first time. >> during the confrontation, they were hitting me and everything, got me on the ground about three times. i tried to defend myself, after they broke my nose, it was hard to see. >> he says he started driving for ride share services because he found out he was going to be a dad. doctors say he will need at least one more leg surgery and will have to go through months of rehabilitation. a common danger on our roads. why you will need to be extra careful looking out for drowsy

the country here. our local airports have already started tweeting about what they're seeing. bwi and marshall saying they're seeing normal operations right now. though there have been some cancellations. dulles airport saying it's snow team is ready. and reagan national will get the preparations ready. you should absolutely expected delays and cancellations from airlines to start growing at a rapid pace across the country. places like chicago with a lot of cancellations. metro t will get interesting for metro. when the snow hits 8 inches, metro gets skittish about above-ground rail service because it starts to cover the third rail. if we see snowfall above 8 inches, metro may have to make that call. bus service will also have to be adjusted. and metro access will stop running at about 4:00 today. so we'll be
