temperatures the way we are going to be tomorrow was back in 1993 after another major nor'easter. that one the storm of the century. this was a monster of a storm for everybody across the northeast and the mid atlantic. for our region we kind of dodged a bullet as far as heaviest snow but we saw a lot of ice and a lot of sleet and a lot of problems. some areas in pennsylvania and new york upwards of 30 inches of snow. it is all moving now. what is moving in behind it is the cold air. wind chills 16 at d.c. right now. 0 in pittsburgh and that is the way we can be tomorrow morning. we could see wind chills between 0 and 5 degrees in many locations. below freezing now through thursday. temperatures stay below freezing all day tomorrow in just about all locations. milder by the weekend and tracking our next system which also comes during the weekend. i have your foreca.

weather. >> we are from oak ridge, tennessee. all four elementary schools and we came here on spring break to see the sites and do the touring. >> from where? >> honolulu, hawaii. when we left it was about 90 degrees. >> reporter: did you come here to see the cherry blossoms today? >> i did. frozen toes and fingers. >> reporter: the park service says presence of nearby water can make a difference and increase the temperature maybe a degree or two. fingers crossed. jackie bensen, news 4. >> here is hoping. new tonight a bitter cold assignment for about 65 firefighters in montgomery county. they put out a fire at this house on blue meadow road in potomac. fire officials tweeted these pictures from the scene not far from wooten parkway. they believe the blaze began in the chimney. no one was hurt.

place to recover. crews are working to restore power in parts of the region still in the dark. fewer than 100 customers per pep co without power. about 1,700 customers with smeco. dominion power says it is working to get power on for about 1,500 customers in northern virginia. route 5 in charles county back open tonight closed all day in both directions because of the ice covered tree branches that had fallen. that caused three utility poles stoosnap and more than 1,000 homes to lose power. residents are hoping tonight's strong winds will not cause more outages. >> i won't be able to get ready for work tomorrow. i can't do that. no hot water for the shower. >> cleanup continues tonight

prince georges county to clear fallen limbs. some d.c. teachers are criticizing the school district's decision to open today. d.c. students had a two-hour delay. one teacher claimed the classroom was empty and said teachers outnumbered students today. the chancellor says staying open allowed parents to decide what was best for their kids. >> we were able to open up aska provide a place for families who needed school to be open. i think things went well and some folks weren't able to make it and made decisions to keep their children at home, as well. >> the chancellor says it is his plan to keep schools open whenever possible. schools will be on a two hour delay again tomorrow. a single tweet gaot the entire country talking. >> $38

weekend update will be coming on during the week when "saturday night live" goes on its summer break. host colin jost and michael shay will do four episodes in primetime thursday night here on nbc. some fellow cast members will join them. "snl" has done similar primetime shows in the past in the fall during election season. families may not have to leave their homes at a mobile home park after all. two nonprofits have stepped in to help. catholics for housing has offered to buy the east end mobile home park. it would allow residents to stay. they say the city was going to close the property and kick families out in order to fix the park's leaking sewer system. residents tell the city council they don't want that to happen. >> it is my hope that you will support catholics for housing offer. that would allow me

35 martinsburg. 37 in baltimore. you add the wind in and this is sustained wind brings the wind chill down to 7. 19 at fredricksburg. that is the kind of temperatures we will be dealing with early tomorrow morning. a major refreeze happening by morning. extreme cold. hats, gloves, coats. make sure the kids are ready for it. make sure you bring pets in. lots of slick spots on the roadways and on the sidewalks. give yourself a little extra time out there even though kids have an extra two hours it will not help all that much with the cold tomorrow. radar all clear in our region. we did have quite a few snow showers coming through and still lake effect snow coming down from lake superior down through ohio and towards our region. behind the

cold side. how about the wind chill tomorrow morning? what about the day? we will have sunshine so we should warm. no. the wind chill around 16 in d.c. that is going to be quite brutal making your way out and about. i am going for a high temperature of 30 degrees. this is very significant. the last time we saw a temperature march 15 this cold back in 1932. this would set a record that stood now for close to 80, 90 years. windy and cold. a few snow showers are possible. many of you may not get out of the 20s all day. the wind chills will be colder. high temperatures on thursday around 36. we don't get above freezing until thursday afternoon. 48 degrees on friday. 59, close to 60 on saturday so we start to moderate a little bit. 46 degrees rather windy during the day on sunday
