this morning, the release is raising questions about who leaked the form and why. overnight a rare look at documents president trump is still himself refusing to share. >> we have his federal tax return for one year for 2005. >> msnbc rachel maddow airing a portion of mr. president trump's 2005 tax return. the words client copy stamped on the pages. it reveals he paid $38 million, writing off more than $100 million in losses. his effective tax rate, 25%. the reporter who obtained the document suggests they could have come from president trump. >> he has a long history of leaking material about himself when he thinks it's in his interest. >> the white house preempting the release while attacking the

senator whitehouse have given director comey a deadline of today to let you know whether there is an active investigation into russian ties to the trump campaign. a, is it true. b, do you think you'll get that information today? >> yes, two weeks ago we met with director comey who i like and admire and told him bitt 15th we would like to know if there's an active criminal investigation because congress shouldn't interfere. we're going to have a hearing on russia, i don't want to bump into a criminal investigation if there is one. in terms of the letter we wrote, i want an answer. the fbi and department of justice last week, for any evidence of a warrant that would allow wire tapping. >> if it doesn't happen the fbi is about to screw up big time, what happens if they don't comply? >> congress will flex its muscle here. senator grassley has

subpoena to get the information. we'll hold up the deputy attorney general's nomination until congress is provided with information to clear the air as to whether or not there was a warrant issued against the trump campaign. >> number one you're saying director comey should tell you whether there is even an investigation into trump campaign ties to russia. number two, the issue we're talking about, theresident made an accusation against then president obama that he wire tapped his phones. you have asked the fbi to produce evidence for a warrant, application for a warrant any requests to surveil trump or trump tower. do you think you'll get the information today? >> if we don't get it today, congress will ramp up pressure. there are two different questions. is there an investigation. because i need to know before i move forward into investigating russia from a congressional lane. i don't want to interfere with a criminal investigation if there is one.

and because she was a everybody wanted to, you know, tear her down in some way. >> the 34-year-old is a mother of three. you have young girls, what do you hope you do as far as changing the conversation about what they can become? >> my daughter, you know, since she was five, has kind of talked about her desire to someday be president. and she sees that there is a path that someone like her mother is able to hold public office. >> omar also recognizes the responsibility of being a first female ippolitics. >> when you are the first, it's really important that you are not just climbing the ladder yourself. but that you are leaving the ladder for everyone else to climb after you.
