someone lying dead on a hallway in your building. a man was found b shot to death in largo last night. police georges county police have not identified the man nor have they given a motive for this killing. this morning, a manassas man is face ago long list of charges involving a hit and run involve ago stole b b snowplow. police say officers saw the plow hit a car and then take off. police went after the truck that matched the description of a stolen b truck in fairfax county. 26-year-old william sanchez can was arrested and charged with dui, hit and run and other charges. no one was injured in that hit and run crash. a man and his dog are recovering this morning after a harrowing experience in rock creek park. take a look at this video. d.c. firefighters shot while having to rescue the pair yesterday afternoon. the temperature at that time was below freezing. you can see the man there holding on to the trees.

trail near 16th street and colorado avenue when the dog took off. the dog slipped down a snow covered hill and became stuck. that is when the owner tried to rescue it and also became stuck. >> he was probably 200 feet down on a 60-degree incline and he was holding on to a tree that was keeping him from sliding further down the hill and into rock creek. >> the man and his dog were stranded for about two hours. first responders say he suffered minor injuries. the dog is okay. it was about 20 degrees when all this happened. that's not including the windchill. firefighters say as passerby heard the man yelling for help. my goodness, i can't imagine what would happen if someone didn't hear hill. because that park is remote .it's so cold, not a lot of people were out there. >> frozen to death down there. a plea to drivers this morning to clear off the tops of your car. >> and the snow that fell on them monday night is now ice in a lot of cases. it's dangerous thou. megan mra

roads to explain how quickly this ice can derail your morning commute. megan. >> yeah, it really can be very dangerous. we're out here on the beltway. we're just passing tyson's corner right now. and take a live look here from our drive camera and you can see we have traffic on the road. i don't know how well you can tell in this lighting, but actually the minivan in front of us has some ice and snow on its roof. that's the kind of thing that can really present a danger to the motorists that are behind you. as you're driving along, especially as you pick up speed, that can fly off and on to the windshield of the car behind you. local jurisdictions are reminding people, the police departments, to clear off your car. take a look at this video. fairfax county, they began to tweet about this situation .they actually put out this video here saying don't be this guy. obviously, an extreme case here with all the snow on this particular car, but certainly a lot of people are out there with snow and ice on the roof of their car. and

yesterday, they had about 20 complaints of ice flying off the tops of cars on to nearby cars. they had actually three incidents where drivers had eye injuries because on of shattered windshields, the glass getting into their eyes. so it can be a serious and potentially dangerous situation. if you are heading out for work this morning and you have not yet cleared off the roof of your car, please do so now. back to you guides. megan mcgrath, live for us on the road, thank you. that's not the only problem the ice is causing this morning. if you've noticed your car shaking since tuesday's snowstorm one may not need to run to the mechanic yet this weekend. the issue is the ice and snow build up in the wheels that can cause the tires to become unbalanced. once the snow melts, your car should drive normally again. if you're really worried, you can use your snow brush to clean in between the spokes of the wheels, if you will, to knock off some of that snow and ice. in just a few hours, we could know the fate of the

departments, right? >> exactly, like the epa and state department. secretary of state rex tillerson in tokyo at a joint news conference was asked what about that 28% cut to your department? how are you going to deal with that? interestingly, he's not fighting it. he says it's a high level of funding that our state department has had has simply not been sustainable and that we're going to have fewer military conflicts around the world to deal with. he said the foreign aid that gets cut, they want to use that more effectively and be more efficient with the money that they do have. this has been a source of concern, but these cuts at the state department, the epa and what many critics believe will be many other areas with social programs are all designed to help boost the military a big 10% increase in military spending. all right, tracie potts on the hill for us, thank

ban is not going into effect today. that's because a federal judge in hawaii blocked it last night. the judge found that 90-day ban on travelers from six countries would likely discriminate against muslims. the president called the ruling judicial overreach and he vowed to go to the supreme court if necessary. maryland lawmaker res now looking at possible changes to a law that could save a child's life. this comes after a prince george's county mother pled guilty in court to killing her two young children. back in 2014, sonia spoon suffocated her son .daughter inside their home. her family says there were warning signs. >> nobody helped. nobody reached out to anybody. nobody reached out to anybody to help. they just let her out, two days later, to kill my daughter .her brother. >> lawmakers want to require anyone who learns of a threat against a child to report it, not only to law enforcement, but the

was put out, tweeted out by fairfax county police. just to give you an idea. granted, this is an extreme case here, the person in this car. but it's just an example of the kind of thing that they really don't want you to do. it is a danger for people who are behind you and we have seen a problem here in recent days. maryland, by late arch, state highway folks, they said that they got about 20 complaints of ice flying into cars. in three of those incidents, the drivers were actually injured because of shattered windshield, glass getting into their eyes. maryland state police reminded people that they can write tickets if they see you and you have a lot of ice on your car. they can pull you over and write a ticket. as you head out this morning, if you haven't already done it, definitely, you'll want to clear off the top of your car. back to you guys. it's 5:47. this morning, a manassas man is facinging a long list of charges
