the u.s. capital visitor's center will spend close to a year in prison. a judge sentenced larry dawson to 11 months for the c confrontation that happened about a year ago. in northern virginia, the state attorney general is wrapping up a news conference with local police where they revealed new details about a massive drug bust. investigators say a group was trafficking a number of drugs including heroin. local and state police in virginia and maryland joined forces and arrested 11 people over the weekend. police seized ten guns, cash and several vehicles along heroin, cocaine, pot and pcp. julie carey is working this story. she'll join us live at the top of the hour. more college s

and why critics aren't too happy about it. you're watching news4 at 4:00. the fbi as part of our counter intelligence mission is investigating the russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. >> fbi director james comey on capitol hill stating publicly that there is in fact an investigation underway into russian election hacking. and that includes whether the trump campaign was involved. >> mark murray is looking at some of that fallout from some of these revelations. now that we officially know there is an ongoing investigation, how does this impact the white house? >> it impacts it at least in the short-term, chris. this is now an ongoing investigation. as we ended up seeing with hillary clinton and her e-mails during the 2016 election, once you have an fbi investigation, you don't know how long it's going to go on, the leaks

eventual resolution. this is a problematic story for the trump white house and the entire republican party. this is historic because in a lot of ways you don't ever have an fbi director telling congress that the presidential campaign of the current president is under investigation for possibly collusion and working with a foreign government. now, as the trump white house points out, an investigation isn't the same thing as hard evidence. but still this might be very problematic for them. >> director comey also contradicted the president's claims that he was wiretapped during the election. let's take a listen to that. >> with respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, i have no information that supports those tweets. and we have looked carefully inside the fbi. >> just last friday the president doubled

were already concerned. there's still time for you to weigh in. just head to the nbc washington facebook page. just a few minutes ago, doors opened for people waiting to see president trump in louisville, kentucky. the president is expected to speak at louisville's freedom hall this evening. the building can hold up to 15,000 people. the president is expected to push the plan to repeal and replace obamacare. this is the president's third visit to louisville in just over a year. the state of maryland is a step closer to passing strict new policy on sex education. >> it's kind of an interesting wording. the house of delegates passed a so-called yes means yes bill. it calls for a concept known as affirmative sexual consent to be taught in schools. the legislation defines that as clear, unambiguous

between all participants to engage in each act within the course of sexual activity. so the bill passed -- hang on. there it goes. you lick your finger. it always works. the bill passed the house on saturday. it did have bipartisan support. it was 115-25. it comes as many college campuses are considering using this standard to judge rape cases. advocates say the guidelines will help prevent sexual assaults. but critics say it could lead to a guilty until proven innocent standard. maryland would become just the second state in the country to pass a yes means yes measure. california adopted a similar mandate two years ago. the bill now heads to the state senate. we're also learning new detailsbo

. here are four things to know this afternoon. a busy day on capitol hill as the head of the fbi confirms an investigation into whether the trump campaign colluded with a covert russian operation to interfere with the u.s. election. james comey is also knocking down president trump's claims that former president obama wiretapped him before the election. a prince george's county teacher is credited with stopping a stabbing suspect after allegedly attacking a high school student. the victim, a crosslands high school student is expected to be okay. the suspect is 18 years old. virginia state police have issued an amber alert to help in the search for a missing teenager from tennessee. elizabeth thomas is 15 years old. she's been missing for a week. this is video from a vigil her

avenue's website. e-mail addresses, phone numbers and product codes were visible via a specific link. the company that owns saks says, quote, we take this matter seriously and it says it's moving quickly and aggressively to resolve the situation. investigators say it is too early to know whether the powerful explosion that levelled a rockville house last week was intentional or accidental. >> an autopsy just revealed that the man who lived there, steven beck, shot and killed himself and his dog. their remains were found inside the house. >> justin finch spoke with a neighbor. >> reporter: bouquets and chew toys. a neighborhood's tribute to two lives lost inside what was a house at ashley drive and

friday morning. by saturday the remains of an adult and dog were found in the basement. >> if you had tree limbs down, he'd be there with his chain saw. he helped fix somebody's lawn m mower. >> reporter: across the street, the home looks okay but inside the impact is apparent. >> part of my bedroom ceiling came down. so they're really worried that the house torqued a little because of the door and the windows being out of alignment. >> reporter: her home, one of ten reported damaged. all weekend local and federal agencies searched for what triggered that blast. the home's gas service was shut off in june 2015. but investigators found unapproved gas access to that home dating to december. on the block, neighbors are now eager to see what happens next. >> it's like, okay, now they've cleaned up the street and everything. are we just left with that hazardous pile of debris? >> reporter:
