popular principal in loudoun county may soon be reinstated. dominion high school principal john brewer was given a termination notice in december. this all stems from brewer writing a recommendation for a former band instructor accused of inappropriate conduct. last night the school board upheld his firing but also decided to offer brewer his old job back on a probationary basis. he'd have to agree to special training on child abuse and neglect reporting. he has ten days to decide whether to accept those terms. president trump headed to capitol hill today and he's expected to push house republicans to pass the plan to replace the affordable care act. this all comes as gop leaders are proposing changes to sweeten the deal. repealing most of the aca's tax increases this year. older and disabled medicaid recipients would get generous benefits but

require work requirements on the program. also it is day two of neil gorsuch's confirmation hearing for the supreme court. today begins the question and answer portion of the hearings. if gorsuch is confirmed he would replace the late supreme court justice scalia. kids and parents are expected to rally on capitol hill as well. they want congress to reject president trump's budget proposal eliminating federal funding of pbs and npr. they also plan to deliver a petition with 660 signatures to members of the senate. yesterday, maryland congressman and other lawmakers met with the head of the secret service about security incidents. there have been three scares. in one a man managed to jump the fence and wander around the grounds for 20 minutes before

a student in prince george's county is recovering after he was stabbed during class. the incident happened yesterday in front of cross land. the former student stabbed the student because he didn't like how he looked at him. the victim was

class, a teacher quickly tackled coats and security turned him to police. the victim is expected to be okay. montgomery county attorney says if convicted one or both of the high school students accused of raping a 14-year-old classmate will be deported after serving their sentences. this is consistent with the county's long standing policy. the victim says 17-year-old jose monotano and another took turns sexually assaulting her last week in the boys' bathroom. there is no information on the 17-year-old. community leaders want you to take notice of on ongoing problem. missing young girls in the district. on our nbc washington app there's an interactive map showing where more than a dozen teens are missing. community leaders point out that th

looking into it isn't really the smoking gun is the word they're using at this point. and they're also pointing out or trying to walk back what the president said about his phones being tapped, suggesting that it wasn't necessarily a wiretap, it could have been other types of surveillance and they are still as spicer put it at the beginning stages of trying to figure that out. although it's clear that the fbi director said they have no evidence whatsoever to support any of that. >> and the president didn't mention the news from the fbi director when he had the rally in kentucky last night. what did he talk about? >> he went there to talk about health care although it took him half an hour to get to that but when he did he insisted this republican plan is going to pass when it comes up for a vote on thursday. keep in mind that's not the final vote, but that gets it to the next step. they've made some changes in the plan. one thing they want to do is require most medicaid recipients to work. they're looking at rolling back the obamacare taxes this year,

many residents. the county council wants congress to reject the proposed budget on montgomery county residents. people that use metro are concerned that the proposed budget would hurt the agency. virginia senator tim kaine yesterday. he says he supports a fare hike and a change in governance over the troubled transit agency. >> it's rarely difficult to govern a system if you don't have a certain investment. we ought to provide them more certainty. >> he is confident the federal government will live up to its current deal. metro receives $150 million from the feds every two years. two huge construction projects going to revamp reagan national airport. this is what the north end of the airport is going to look like. a brand new concourse will be built so passengers no longer have to take buses to board commuter planes outside. new security check poin.

will start this year and we're expecting more details at a board meeting tomorrow. new details on that deadly house explosion in rockville. we now know the victim is 61-year-old steven beck. an autopsy reveals he shot and killed himself and his dog before the blast. they're working to learn what triggered that explosion friday morning. it damaged ten nearby homes. we also learned the home had been illegally hooked up to gas service since december. heroin, cocaine, guns and cash are off the streets of northern virginia and maryland after a massive drug bust. these are ten of the 11 suspects who have been arrested. a series of overdoses led to a year long investigation. police arrested her two sons duane and tonyman along with her grandson tony smith. her sons have drug addictions but they're not dealers, she says. >> it's not true. they are not in

ring. they might have purchased drugs from somebody that is selling them or you know, that got a big batch of it, but my two sons, they are not in no drug ring. >> virginia's attorney general says he hasn't tied the suspects to any overdose deaths but the investigation is still open. new rules are changing what you can and can't bring on your next trip to the beach. starting torment, tents and canopies will be banned from the beach. they passed the new law last week. life guards and first responders had trouble moving around large tents during emergencies. it also bans campfires and grills on the beach. smaller umbrellas and baby tents for small children are still allowed. violators face a $25 fine. this is a huge deal for chuck bell who likes to just really sprawl out on the beach. >> we're going to
