now. >> it's wednesday, everybody. just two days to the weekend. good morning. i'm y asm in. >> i'm frances rivera. north korea fired another missile both the u.s. and south korea militaries are saying the launch failed. this followed north korea's waurning of a preemptive strike and release of a fiery propaganda video, a plane blowing up of the u.s. s. carlson. nbc's janet is in beijing this morning. janice, thanks for being with us this morning. what more do we know? >> reporter: good morning. this is just the latest provocation from north korea. this missile apparently exploded seconds after being launched. that coming in the way of a confirmation from a spokesman at the u.s. pacific command. they say they continue to monitor very closely for further actions from north korea. it's unclear at this point what type of

whether there were any u.s. cyber warfare efforts that were involved in sabotaging it. it's just simply impossible to know. what we do know is that the signals stepping up efforts by north korea just a few days ago they had that successful test of a rocket engine earlier in the month they fired four intermediate ballistic missiles. and, of course, last month that first rocket test of the trump presidency. secretary of state rex tillerson is saying at this point all options are on the table. north korea, however, says that it's not intimidated. it released that propaganda video yesterday threatening that there will be fire to come if the u.s. decides to strike. >> we'll see what the options of the united states takes, if any at all. nbc's janice, thank you for that report. >> amid the international turmoil, the white house just announced that president trump will travel to brussels on may 25th for a nato summit. it will be his first foreign ip
