before you get home from work and school and a hard freeze is coming our way for overnight tonight. winds are also going to be an issue. winds gusting over 30 miles per hour in many locations now. that is that northwest wind which promises a big drop in temperatures as we go through the day. let's go to sheena with more on that. >> you see that wind gusts ushering the colder air. temperatures are dropping. the temperature in the district has dropped about four degrees. it's 52 degrees now but it's going to start feeling colder. gaithersburg, frederick both in the mid-40s. hagerstown in the upper 30s. 40 degrees just a bit ago. 45 dulles. clinton coming in at 50. but it will be getting colder today. look at the planner. by 7:00 a.m. we expect to be in the 40s. could be in the low 40s. it will be breezy but feeling like the 30s. by lunchtime only the mid-40s through the afternoon so aside r

14-year-old girl inside rockville high school. the case is also becoming split sized after -- splpoliticized after we lead that one of the suspects is an undocumented immigrant. more now from rockville. >> reporter: the more we learn the more outrage builds. there is video of the 14-year-old girl being dragged into that bathroom and like so many parents, the governor is demanding answers about how something like this could happen at a school with security and in the middle of the day. he says his biggest concern lies squarely with montgomery county's school superintendent and hogan did not mince words. >> montgomery county government and the police are cooperating. the school system is not and it appears if they have something to hide. we want to know exactly how this zz

you know, why is an 18-year-old man in a ninth grade class with 13, 14-year-old girls. >> reporter: now, montgomery county has a long standing policy where they don't ask people their immigration status. but in a case like this, a criminal case where deportation proceedings are possible, the county will fully support that. we know at least one of the suspects in this case is an undocumented citizen. that is the latest live from outside rockville high. back to you. thank you. the news 4 i-team reports there were 27 high school sexual assaults or sexual incidents requiring a response from police in the 2015 to 2016 school year. in april of 2014 the school district told the i-team it installed mirrors and cameras to reduce blind spots in some of the hallways at a different high school in rockville after two students had

54th and c streets in southeast. this happened yesterday afternoon. we'll update you as we learn more. she was doing the same things a lot of college students are doing this time of the year, hanging out with friends during spring break. that's when someone pulled out a gun and started shooting. 18-year-old mcallister was killed in a parking lot monday night in northeast washington. she was home from st. augustine university for spring break and was watching a rap video being filmed. her father says he's devastated. >> i miss her warm smile, the close relationship that we have. >> this is the second homicide to affect the same family. her cousin was murdered four months ago outside of an apartment complex in capitol heights. both cases remain unsolved. today on capitol hill, lawmakers will begin round 2 of questioning for neil gorsuch, president trump's pick for t

supreme court. he sat through just over 11 hours of questioning yesterday. gorsuch stressed his independence from the president and said quote, when anyone criticizes the honesty or the integrity or the motives of a federal judge i find that disheartening. public witnesses are expected to testify tomorrow. the other big story on capitol hill, health care. time is running out. the house is expected to vote on the bill tomorrow. health care is one of the topics the executive committee of the congressional black caucus plans to bring up when they meet with the president today. maryland congressman expected to take part in that meeting. it's now 6:07. if you work for the federal government you could be getting a raise next year. according to the washington post federal agencies have been told to build a 1.9% raise into their spending plan. the raise was not included in the proposed budget release last week but the post says the administration is recommending the raise take effect next january.

it's on the way and in many areas north and west of the district we're already seeing and look at hagerstown. 38 degrees. but it's also windy in these areas so it feels colder. leesburg 45 degrees right now. gaithersburg 45. frederick is dropping. 52 currently in the district but all these numbers will keep on dropping. we have a cold front moving in and that's going to make it colder through the day today. so by 7:00 a.m. your commute forecast dry roads but temperatures will be closer i think to 40 degrees through much of the area by 7:00 a.m. by noon only the mid-40s. and it will be windy. so it will be feeling even colder. now, aside from today's colder weather, so again, make sure you grab the warm jacket before you head out, we have some even colder temperatures coming tomorrow morning. coming up we'll be back with a closer look at that. let's check the roads this morning. so right now 15 shut down. we are understanding both directions here

murder l why -- murdered while vacationing in florida. the 26-year-old was found by a coworker he had traveled with for a jazz festival near miami. the coworker said brown had returned to the hotel early to go to bed. police are reviewing surveillance hoping to track down his killer. massive search is still underway for a missing 15-year-old tennessee girl. police say she disappeared more than a week ago with her former teacher. now the girl's father says he's afraid the 50-year-old has married his daughter. authorities say the suspect ted comens had been doing online research about teen marriage. elizabeth thomas' father says she was being manipulated by a man she trusted. >> i'd heard a lot about him not only from her, from the other kids. he had their complete trust. >> authorities say there has been no

last monday when the teen was last seen in alabama. a florida mother is behind bars after deputies say her three-year-old found her gun and pulled the trigger. volusia county deputies say that she parked her car at a school and got out to take a walk. she left her son alone in that car. she told investigators that she usually keeps her gun in a backpack locked in her trunk but forgot and left it in the driver's side door pocket. the little boy found it, fired it and shattered the driver's side window. no one was hurt. mean girls is headed to the stage in d.c. and now we know when and where you can see it. i love that movie. we told you last year it was becoming a musical and now we know it will make its world premier at the national theater october 31st. it will run until december 3rd before going to broadway. tina fey adapted her screen play into the musical version. she's so talent.

so the cold impacts for this morning, not too terribly cold yet. by later on this afternoon, northwest winds could be well over 30 miles per hour at times. so falling temperatures and strong winds means windchills will be down in the low 30s much of the afternoon and then overnight tonight, clear skies and the wind fading away, a hard freeze is coming. this is the last real hurdle for the cherry blossoms to have to clear. hopefully we can get them out to close to peak blooming period by this weekend, but they've got to make it through tonight first. a little bit of rain finally coming to an end. no need to worry about rain drops around the city for today, but look at that downward trend in temperatures. we'll spend most of the afternoon with temperatures struggling to get back into the upper 30s and low 40s. so just know it will be a blustery and cold day today and a chilly one tomorrow. highs near 49 but without the wind and plenty of sunshine, that won't be too bad. a chance of a sprinkle on friday. friday night looks dry. tu

good morning. >> good morning, chuck. yes, the cold air is about to move really through the entire area. that cold front is moving through and that's really going to drop things and the wind is going to pick up making it feel colder. here's a look at our future feels like temperatures. by 9:00 a.m. some areas could be feeling like the upper 20s and by this afternoon feeling as warm as the mid-30s so a big change compared to what it feels like right now. we go into tomorrow morning feeling like the low 20s in some spots. we expect to be down in the mid to low 20s, so it's going to be a cold one over the next i would say 24 to 48 hours. windy and colder as we go through today but we do stay dry. tomorrow we stay nice and dry. next rain chance comes early friday and then the weekend warmup begins. chuck? >> absolutely right. we can deal with a little lunchtime rain shower on friday as long as we get the warm air back in place for the weekend. saturday partly sunny skies and 76 degrees. that's the warmest day out of the n
