if iran is left unchecked the united states could be facing an i am fent threat similar to the one presented by north korea. now nbc's ali joining us by phone. ali, talk to me about this announcement and how iran is reacting to all of this. >> reporter: good morning. well, first iran made no public comment on this latest development. they were made very late last night tehran time so they have yet to react. the president is out making a speech right now. he hasn't touched on the subject, but i can tell you when america talks tough to iran it doesn't usually go down very well here. secretary tillerson certainly had some strong words. also any talk of sanctions or renegotiating the jcpoa also known as the iran nuclear deal so close to elections in this country on may 19th, is going to deeply disturb the regime and feed into the hard line narrative that the nuclear deal with america was a bad one. iran should never have engaged with america because it was

be trusted. it's also very doubtful iran is going to embark on any type of renegotiation. they feel like they settled the terms of this deal and there is nothing else to negotiate. so, if america was trying to renegotiate the deal, set new sanctions on it in all probability iran would pull out of the nuclear deal in some way or another. now, none of this is going to bode well for the president. settling everything on the nuclear deal, if he's in trouble the nuclear deal is in trouble. he's in trouble, too. back to you guys. >> we'll have to see how all this unfolds of course. ali arouzi for us. thank you. >> after two decades the highest rated cable news program, bill o'reilly is waking up this morning without a job. the headlines say it all. fox news dropped long-time host bill o'reilly, cutting ties with the fire brand commentator in the wake of sexual harassment accusations and reports of multi-million dollar pay outs.

house spokesperson dana parino commented on the bomb shell news during o'reilly's coveted primetime slot. >> it is the end of an era here at the fox news channel. as we mentioned earlier, bill o'reilly is leaving this chair and this network after more than 20 years. bill has been the undisputed king of cable news and for good reason. he is an incredibly talented broadcaster who raised the bar for interviewers everywhere. >> in a statement lisa bloom, an attorney representing three of the women accusing o'reilly of sexual harassment said in part, quote, i am very proud to have stood with my brave clients who stood up for themselves and all the silenced women. fox news should have fired him in 2004 when the first complaint was made, but at least now they did. they did it because we persisted. >> and now 2006 years after anita hill ignited a national conversation on workplace sexual harassment, she's speaking out telling usa today, quote, the idea these kinds of behaviors can stay hidden because there

i think the key is to keep pushing when you deal with someone like roger ailes and bill o'reilly. the key is for people to keep coming forward. both men have denied allegations of sexual harassment. it is a dramatic fall from grace for o'reilly of course and it comes less than three weeks since "the new york times" blew open sexual harassment claims that was too much for the news giant. >> you are about to enter the no-spin zone. >> reporter: the no-spine zone is no more. bill o'reilly the controversial face of fox news for 21 years was fired by the network he helped put on the map. following in the footsteps of his former boss and mentor, roger ailes, who was also pushed out after an investigation of sexual harassment claims. o'reilly was at the vatican for what he says was a long-planned holiday with his family. but even a handshake with pope francis didn't save him.

illegally seized plants cause being the company irreparable damage. >> the families of two men at the center of separate murder cases against former nfl star aaron hernandez say they are moving forward with wrongful death suits. hernandez was found dead in his cell early wednesday as an apparent suicide. he was serving a life sentence for the murder of oden lloyd. a lawyer for lloyd's mother says hernandez was convicted so all that is left is for a judge and jury to decide on damages. he was still appealing that conviction. just days ago he was acquitted in a double murder case. an attorney for one of the victims' families says they will also seek damages despite the acquittal while expressing sympathy to hernandez's loved ones. a they take no joy in what's happened to him and to more particularly to their families -- his family. >> hernandez was 27 years old. >> a stocking scare for first daughter law
