news4 midday. metro needs even more money to keep the system up and running for the next decade. >> the breakdown looks a bit like this. metro wants $15.5 billion over the next ten years. that's 1.5 billion a year. it also wants dedicated funding to the tune of 500 million every year. for d.c. and virginia, you'll likely pay some kind of tax. the cap increases at 3% a year. just a few minutes ago, wiedefeld was asked if he thinks this proposal will become a reality. he says he remains positive. >> the system cannot fail. we've got to get this right. the future of this region is dependent upon it, and we have to do what it takes to get there. >> for workers, wiedefeld wants changes

forecast coming up. a metro car is getting transformed, and there's a chance you can see it again in montgomery county. a sculptor is returning the retired car into benches and industrial art. we are live at his warehouse in brookville, maryland. what does it look like? >> reporter: this is really a cool project. just take a look behind me here. we've been hearing for sometime about how the metro is decommissioning the 4,000 series rail cars. five squares development has teamed up with new york artists and they are literally slicing up an 80,000-pound metro rail car. take a look at the video of some of the work they're doing here. they're going to turn some pieces of the main body of the car into

right now in the district the police are looking for the same man in two separate sexual assault cases. the first happened just before 10:00 in the morning. that was on april 6th. police say a woman was groped by a man twice. that second incident happened a week later on 34th street around 6:30 in the morning. in this case the woman said the man had a knife. the description of the suspect is similar in both cases. he was wearing a black jacket with green on the sleeves. now police are also looking for information from parents in montgomery county after a man tried to abduct two boys from a playground and exposed himself to a young girl. on easter sunday, montgomery county police say he tried to pull the boys into his apartment in white oak. they were able to get away, but that happened after police say he exposed himself to a teen girl.

person was able to talk my son into texting. >> reporter: this mom, who does not want to be identified to protect her son, says the chat filters which were able to block curse words couldn't stop the man from sending his phone number. for one month, they sent each other thousands of text messages. >> texts with this person were very dark and sexual and violent. >> reporter: because her son deleted all the messages, she couldn't read them right away, but through a private investigator they recovered many of them and they were able to trace his phone number. >> the person told him he was 15. he was a 56-year-old man in virginia. >> reporter: after the texts were discovered, the boy contacted his so-called friend to warn him. his friend wrote, if they want to clear up the whole predator thing, they only need to call.
