let's get to it and show you what i'm talking about it on storm team 4 radar. i've been watching this storm, it's moving quickly. the biggest threat is going to be winds. let's zoom into this area, around leesburg, moving to the east and it's moving fairly quickly, probably at least 30 miles per hour. but right now, around leesburg. this is only going to be for wind. but we saw strong winds last night that took down some trees. this is until 4:45. i'll zoom in a little bit more, so you can see the towns. if you're in poolsville or darnstown, heads up in those regions. notice the lightning associated with this. if you're in this area, this is river road right around this area. there's more lightning there. heads up gaithersburg, rockville, germantown, severe thunderstorm warning until 4:45. there's a couple in our region, but i'm not expecting many more to

>> about 15 minutes, all this happened in 15 minutes. >> reporter: the wind took down massive trees. some fell without hitting anything, but others took down power lines and came down hard on vehicles. >> i didn't see the damage until this morning, and i saw where the trees had come down and some people have obviously lost their vehicles, which is unfortunate. >> fortunately, no injuries occurred, but damage to cars, some buildings, town homes. >> reporter: hundreds spent the night without power. >> the rain was coming in sideways and i saw a big flash before the power went out. >> reporter: and a few spent the night without windows to keep out the rain and the wind. and we are waiting to find out whether this was some sort of tornado or whatever. more likely a microburst. that will be up for the national weather service to determine. we're live in adelphi, derrick ward, news4. >> thank you. now fairfax county police need help

responsible for killing an elderly man in a nursing home. cong huu nguyen was found dead in his home at the little river glen yesterday. the medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. northern virginia bureau reporter david culver is working on this story. he'll have a live report on news4 at 5:00 and at 6:00. we're learning how much mold was inside district heights elementary school and what the district is planning to do about it. the district ordered mold testing after people complained of getting sick last month. an initial test showed only one classroom with elevated mold levels. that classroom was closed and the school ordered retesting and found levels that were below federal guidelines. the school is now implementing two recommendations from the testing company, including cleaning the bathroom ceiling in one of the classrooms and adjusting the h vac system in another classroom. additional testing will be

if you life in spotsylvania county, you're being asked to boil your water. there was a water main break and it caused a significant drop in water pressure. that means things like bacteria and organisms could be lurking in the water. county leaders say boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking, food, and making ice. they hope to have it fixed in about 72 hours. now that police know the identity of a teenager found dead in prince george's county easter sunday morning, they can move ahead with finding her killer. 17-year-old tasia chase was stabbed sunday morning in forestville. she staggered onto a stranger's doorstep looking for help before she collapsed and died. final goodbyes today to a soldier killed in the black hawk helicopter crash on monday. a memorial service was held at the chapel at ft. belvoir to remember jeremy tomlin. th

that includes montgomery and northern fairfax counties. approxima the biggest threat will be some strong winds which could take down some trees. coming towards gaithersburg, i want to show you where this storm is and where it's heading. river road, darnstown, heads up, this storm means business for you folks. extremely northeastern portions of loudoun county, extreme northern fairfax county. but gaithersburg to rockville, around potomac and here's some of the towns that we'll see the storm move through. gaithersburg and rockville, great falls, 4:27, rockville, 4:29. wheaton, 4:42, bethesda, 4:44. heads up, be indoors. now, other storms, d

stafford county, moving over i-95 towards quantico, and up to the east of manassas, seeing a shower. this one will move right down and come to wood bridge. a few more as well and we could see a few more popping up as this front meanders down to the south slowly. behind this system, though, look back to the west. we have a pretty big area of low pressure, moving along this boundary. look at all the moisture with it. a lot of rain over the next couple days. and that rain moves in early tomorrow morning. by 7:00 a.m., already some rain around waldorf, southern maryland, back to the west seeing the rain and everybody gets in on the action around 9:00, 10:00, 11:00. we think it could be a wash-out between 2:00 and 6:00. this will be the heaviest rain overnight saturday night into early on sunday. sunday, also expecting some showers and not just that, let me get out of the way here, we're

coach charged with child pornography. he worked at an leamtary school in prince george's county, and it appears none of those children were hurt. meagan fitzgerald was there when the man appeared in court. >> reporter: christopher speights was in court for the first time tonight, and he will stay in jail pending the outcome of this case. maryland state police have been investigating speights, who up until this week worked as a substitute teacher and basketball coach at brad bury elementary school. he uploaded more than a hundred videos of child pornography and then admitted it to police when they searched his home wednesday morning. investigators say child pornography was found on his cell phone, laptop, and ipad. this is an ongoing investigation, but the state's attorney's office says they have no reason to believe that any child at brad bury elementary school was a victim. meagan fitzgerald, news4. president trump has one

take a look right now, a severe thunderstorm warning again until 5:15 for montgomery, prince george's county and parts of d.c. a lot of lightning associated with this very heavy rain. along i-270 and democracy boulevard, at a standstill, almost looks like snow. extremely heavy rain through the area. this is always a mess in this region, but it's going to continue to be a big mess as we move through the rest of the

app, you would have gotten a push alert for that if you're in montgomery, the district, parts of prince george's county. take a look outside at our rockville camera. 3:55 here. you can see the storm starting to push out, moving east at about 30 miles an hour. so here is where it is on radar. you can see impacting northern parts of the district, starting to move into prince george's county and then also some heavy rain starting to move into parts of charles county as well. so take a look at that. but i want to time out the severe thunderstorm warning for you. crofton, right around 5:20. scattered thunderstorms early in the evening. i think later tonight will be mainly dry. and this sets us up for a chilly and rainy weekend. say goodbye to the 80s and hello to the 50s. more showers on monday and tuesday, after that a big warm-up follows towards the end of next week.

90 degrees. right now at 81. scattered thunderstorms until about 7:00. by 9:00 p.m., still mild, low 70s. i can't rule out a shore ovwer overnight. we fall into the 50s and stay there throughout the day tomorrow. the temperatures near steady or slowly falling as we head through our saturday. so some showers possible during the morning hours, as we head into the afternoon hours, those showers turn to rain, periods of rain at times. the most and steadiest rain will be falling tomorrow evening for your saturday night. so you want to keep that in mind. take a look at your weekend weather outlook. yard work this weekend, if you're looking for an excuse not to do it, you can use the weather. the best time to get outdoors will be sunday afternoon. mainly dry at that point, but earth day tomorrow, a lot of outdoor events going on for that. definitely have the rain gear handy, the long sleeves as well. saturday night, have the umbrella with rain impacting the area. not the best weekend to get the car w

still a warning until 5:15 for prince george's county, montgomery county and even parts of northern d.c. as well. we have numerous storms out here, but this is the game in town. right here, through northern prince george's county, a few more storms towards charles county. but we've been watching this one, has had a history of producing wind and hail through montgomery county and is now right on top of college park. if you're around the college park area, i'm going to zoom in and show you where it is. right around college park, along the border with d.c. look at the lightning here. a ton of lightning, and this has been enhanced over the last 10 to 15 minutes. that tells me the storm continues to strengthen on this trail moving to the south and east about 30 miles an hour. largo 5:19. heads up in these areas. get inside your house. if you're out and about, you do not want to be out when this storm moves in. no more severe weather this weekend but a lot of
