we welcome you in on this saturday, april 29th. we're nearing the end of the month. >> and i feel like it was just april fool's day. >> i'm david culver along with angie goff. we'll start you out in the storm team 4 weather center where it is feeling like summer out there, tom. >> it is 73 degrees already. >> yeah, it's quite humid, too. we have a lot of cloudiness. pre-dawn we had showers and thundershowers passing to the north. right now, all cloudy around the entire region. there is the live view from the storm team 4 city camera overlooking washington. a gray sky this morning. storm team 4 radar showing some showers. they had been producing a little bit of lightning in the shenandoah valley, but they are pretty much beginning to break up crossing the blue ridge. this area in the light green has a few sprinkles of light rain pulling out of the mountains and into loudoun county, pulling out of eastern washington county coming into frederick county, maryland. all this tracking off to the east. i've got the new hour-by-hour

rain chances the next few days coming up in the next few minutes. tom, we'll see you in a few minutes. now to the big developing story in montgomery county. four people shot overnight. one of them has died. the county police there in montgomery have not identified the victim. they say two men and two women were stopped inside a home in germantown. it happened on kitchen house way not far from seneca high school. police did not give us information about the suspect. derrick ward is headed that way. we'll check in with him a little later. and the story developing right now, we know that a woman was killed in calbert county overnight. detectives were telling everyone to stay inside in lusby and to lock the doors. the killing happened and james harley jr. has not been caught. they believe he shot his wife tanya hy

left. police are actively searching for him right now. one more big story happening right now in maryland, there's a hunt going on right now trying to find this man, an escaped prisoner. howard county police have looked all night for david watson who was in jesup for a psychiatric evaluation when he got away. he was serving time for attempted murder. howard county police say he managed to take off a waist chain and handcuffs while being held inside a van. watson we know has several a dues including the word "thin" on his hand and "evil" on his neck. plus a few tattoos on his face. if you see him, call 911 right away. and increasing security after another missile launch in north korea. officials in the united states and south korea say the launch failed. and that the missile wouldn't be able to reach japan. the tokyo subway shut down for several minutes after officials learned about the launch. earlier this week, president tr s

conflict. and angie, we'll stay on the topic of president trump. he'll mark his first 100 days in office with a speech. this is happening up in harrisburg, pennsylvania. our partners at factcheck.org say he started off his term just as he left off the campaign, making several false and misleading claims. >> we're finding that donald trump as president is the same as donald trump the candidate. and you saw that on day one. >> this american carnage stops right here and stops right now. >> he was portraying the united states as being crime-ridden. >> factcheck.org says the crime rate has been trending downward for decades. adding, it's less than half of what it was in 1991. >> rusted out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape.

decision by toyota to invest in its kentucky plant was made before trump became president. >> still seeing the same kind of things that donald trump is saying on the campaign, that we keep pointing out, is not accurate. >> president trump spoke about his first 100 days with fox news. one of the topics including general michael flynn who is now under investigation by the pentagon for foreign payments following a stern 2014 warning. during the interview, the president put the blame on the former president obama. >> he resigned, you said he was treated horribly and felt bad about that. given now what we're seeing on the payments from turkey and russia, would you stand by that comment? >> let me just say, i feel badly for him. he served the country, he was a general. but just remember, he was approved by the obama administration at the highest level.

pope francis is in the capital of egypt this morning celebrating mass with the cairo catholic community. this is an important trip, especially after the attack on christians that happened a few weeks ago on palm sunday. there was also a bombing back in december at a church in cairo. 10,000 people were at this morning's mass. it's the first time a pope has visited egypt in 17 years. pope francis goes back to rome today. maryland governor larry hogan will lay his father to rest today. the funeral will be at st. mary's catholic church in

park for that. >> they have a nice canopy out there. after 97 years, the national park service is changing the name of opening day from family day to carousel day. news4's barbara harrison takes us all for a ride. >> reporter: the sounds of the season, the clank of the giant doors opening, letting the unmistakable signs of spring outside in. and inside is where these onlookers want to be, opening day can't come soon enough for them. >> the only thing really left to be done is a little bit more sweeping. >> reporter: burt kenyan retired from his job maintaining jet engines in the air force. from nine of his ten years here at glen echo park, he's run the carousel operation. what did you do when you first got here? >> i was a happy worker for about the first year. >> reporter: not to say that he's not happy now, taking care of every little detail of maintaining and running the

carousel. with its hand-painted circus animals and endangered species, were it not for the loving care and maintenance they get. do you like it? >> of course. that's why i'm still here. >> reporter: it's fun? >> absolutely. >> reporter: that poker face certainly doesn't portray all the fun he's having here. but when he flips the switch for the lights, the joker fest of the jester says, this is a place to smile. and one more thing on the to-do list sure to brighten the spirits? cranking up the organ. this military band organ was ordered for the carousel in 1926. it's a masterpiece, called a rare attraction itself. it's just a few youngers than the gentle designed carousels that came to the park in 1921. this year marks the 97th year the carousel will celebrate an opening day. and there will be lots of other events to enjoy on saturday, april 29

carousel rides from 11:00 to 5:00 and it costs $1.25 per ride. >> not a bad deal. today is the biggest fund-raiser of the year for mount very nnon school in alexandria. there are thousands of items like furniture, housewares, toys sporktsi sporting goods, antiques. the funds raised will benefit the school in a lot of ways. >> it funds field trips, classroom enrichment, clubs for kids who can't afford them. we really pride ourselves at mount vernon community school being a real community school and we make sure that every student can participate in every activity regardless of their ability to pay. >> final sales are at 1:00 this afternoon. there is a fee if you want to go inside. they are now moving on to the celtics. >> the wizards just made it through the first round of the playoffs.
