p.m. today likely to be our last day in the 80s for a while as a cooler weather pattern starts to roll in tuesday and wednesday and there may be another chance for storms coming up on friday. right now you can see the line of thunderstorms all the way from kentucky into northwestern georgia. that's all coming in our direction. we are under an enhanced risk for severe storms late afternoon and then primarily into the evening hours on the i-95 corridor. be weather alert. give us a friend, follow, like, or share to help get the word out to have severe weather by later on this afternoon and evening. for more on that, let's go over to sheena. >> as far as the enhanced risk is concerned, basically it means you can expect potentially damaging winds across the area. that is going to be the main threat on our storm impact scale from about after 5:00 p.m. to midnight because, again, that's going to be general time frame. after 5:00 p.m. this is

high winds will be the highest impact. never can rule out an isolated tornado. still low. hail possible and brief periods of heavy rain. keep all of this in mind as we go through the evening. monday planner looking good. warming into the 80s by 7:00 p.m. we're talking about severe storms possible. we do have a problem out there on the beltway. good morning, melissa. >> problem on the beltway. we'll watch to see how quickly this starts to back up. outer loop, approaching 7, the right side of the roadway is getting by. you can't see any major delay. inner loop as you're approaching rockville pike do have a little slowdown from some earlier road work. 66 is fine, so is 95. fairfax station road at colchester. we will update you on the beltway. take a look at travel times coming up. severe storms moving east this morning leaving devastation

discuss new regulations for food. >> over the last eight years former first lady michelle obama was trying to make lunch healthier. news 4's justin finch is live in leesburg with the announcement at a virginia school to change the rules. justin, that's about? >> reporter: hey there, eun. good morning. 12:30 today ago culture secretary sunny purdue is set to have lunch here and the details are not yet out but this could lead to schools having some wiggle rooms in meeting federal school lunch requirements and could amount to a roll back of obama plans.

suspended their ground search for inmate david watson. the u.s. marshall service believes that watson could be in delaware now. there is a $5,000 reward leading to his capture. maryland state police say speed caused a deadly motorcycle accident in prince george's county. a 32-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his bike, skidded and collided with a guardrail. happened yesterday evening at largo road and central avenue in largo. police say a man was riding with a group of motorcyclists when this happened. maryland state police say they've seen a spike in weather crashes since the weather got better. a tacoma police officer is in the hospital after a man ran over his foot. the man left the hospital, jumped into a

dranesville road. one vehicle in the median. we'll look at travel times straight ahead. aaron? >> folks, thank you. in the south folks gearing up for another round of severe video. this is a deadly tornado in canton, texas. >> nbc's jay gray joins us live from missouri with more on the deadly storms. jay, good morning. >> reporter: hey there, eun, aaron. it was the wind in texas, it was the water in missouri. take a look. this is the kind of devastation that people are dealing with across the strike zone from the deep south to the midwest. this building was pulled off of its foundation, ripped apart by the raging flood waters. the water here reached historic levels in many areas and it's still blocking some of the roadways, some of the highways around this region. there are a lot of people that want to get out, clean up and th

your brain. >> reporter: sugar can be very tempting. it's everywhere, and it can be hard to avoid. there are the naturally occurring sugars, the ones in fruits and some grains and vegetables, and then there is the added sugar. dr. nicole earhardt is an endocrinologist at george washington university hospital. >> sodas, snack packs that have added sugars. your yogurts have added sugars. all those types of things like a yogurt may appear healthy but it's not healthy if it has 28 grams of sugar in it. >> reporter: i started paying attention to the sugar in my diet several years ago because of family history of diabetes puts me at risk. so when eun and aaron signed up for the sugar challenge, i joined them. >> i don't think about it. i eat what i want to eat, drink what i want

quantico, 70 at leesburg. patchy fog in northern maryland and the inner harbor. for today, partly and cloudy day. breezy, temperatures well into the upper 70s and low and mid 80s. chances for rain come in later on today especially this evening. school day forecast, not much of a chance for rain before 4:00. after 5:00, 6:00, it will be an increasing chance for showers. sneaking ahead for the weekend, way cooler. highs only in the 60s. for today there's an enhanced risk for severe weather that includes all of the news 4 nation today. our primary threat time in weather alert mode from 4:00 p.m. to midnight the likelihood of storms reaching i-81 about 5:00 or 6:00. could be inside the d.c. metro area between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. there's that swath of rain ahead of it. cold enough on the back

where that is snow all the way down to kansas and nebraska. with that much cold air on the back side, that's the reason we have an opportunity for stormy weather. warm. 85 today. 70s later on in the week. might have some strong storms today joompt outer loop here at leesburg pike, a little alert here. 1 mile backup. that has slowly built up here in the past half hour or so. so, again, only getting by on the right side of the roadway. we'll keep an eye on that one. eastbound 7 at dranesville road. one car flipped in the median. fairfax station at colchester road, have that crash reported as well. minnesota avenue between mannie helen boroughs, repairs on 44

friday, 15-year-old shanetta payne disappeared. there was concern because the kids are 1 and 3 months old. d.c. police tweeted overnight that they were all discovered unharmed. speed may be to blame for a deadly motorcycle accident in prince george's county. this happened yesterday evening at largo road in central avenue. man died when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a guardrail. a prisoner who escaped from plips custody is still on the run. take a look at this picture of david watson. he took off from jesup, maryland, but could be in delaware. serving time for attempted murder. government shutdown averted. they struck a deal to keep the government running until september. angie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun and aaron. negotiators working to hammer out the last remaining sticking points to keep the government open. overall this is a $

>> the bill could come up for a vote in the house. republicans have been working behind the scenes to get the votes to pass it. yesterday on "meet the press" vice president mike pence says they weren't ready to repeal obama care. i think we're close. >> there is a question on whether pre-existing conditions will be covered in the republican bill. president trump says it will while some republicans want to allow states to opt out of it. meanwhile, you can expect a day full of marches to happen. this is video from last year. people are protesting against president trump's efforts to boost deportation. here in washington people will gather at noon in lamont park in mount pleasant. d.c. police are looking for 16-year-old sade williams. she was last seen on saturday on call place near

michelle obama made a public push for schools to offer healthier options. they have been an $11 billion plus effort serving some 30 million students nationwide and for years many republican lawmakers have voiced concerns about the lunch program's price tag. in loudoun county where this announcement is being made, nbc news reports school lunches have gotten $6 million. the agriculture secretary will eat lunch and be on hand for the announcement. kansas senator pat roberts will be joining him for that. i'm justin finch, news 4. 12 minutes before the top of the hour. it was a physical game on the court. the wizards facing the boston celtics. >> they play again tomorrow
