call police if you have any questions. today opening statements begin in the case of two volunteer firefighters. they're charged with assault and misconduct. prosecutors say in 2015 miller and kelly responded to a house fire in high yates chill. a fight broke out when the volunteers blocked the door to the burning home so members of the career company couldn't go in before the volunteers. the trial is expected to last about four days. heather cook was driving drunk and texting when she hit and killed a bicyclist in 2014. she was supposed to spend seven years in prison. today she'll ask the parole board. they told our baltimore affiliate that they are angry she could be released so early. we're working to shine a

a taxi driver is facing charges he abducted thehis ride when they couldn't pay his charges. he was in an argument with three customers over fares when they say they couldn't pay he locked the doors and drove away from the

sally yates' testimony. >> he sent several tweets as dismissing her testimony as, quote, old news. what information did we learn? >> reporter: sally yates said there were some things that she could not talk about because they were classified information, but she did call mike flynn's behavior problematic and said that he was misleading the public and obviously misled the vice president, that's why he got fired about what he was saying and not saying about his conversation with the russian ambassador. her testimony is confirming earlier reports that he did talk with the ambassador about sanctions and fbi transcripts confirmed that. he told people he did not. that's what got him fired. sally yates said he was compromised as a result of saying one thing to his bosses and something else actually happened. they were concerned that he could be black mailed by the russians because the

knew exactly what that conversation was about. >> tracie, we're also learning that then president obama warned donald trump about hiring michael flynn when they met after the election. what can you tell us about that? >> reporter: remember the two pictures of them sitting together at the oval office. apparently minutes before president obama told mr. trump you might want to rethink hiring mike flynn as your national security adviser. flynn had been fired two years earlier by the obama administration as head of the defense intelligence agency. they said he had temperament problems, mismanagement problems. now the white house is saying, well, if the obama administration had such a problem with him, why didn't they yank his security clearance? that clearance was renewed before the administration realized he had been paid $34,000 for a speech in russia. he was cleared by the obama administration. interestingly, he never did get the additional clearance he needed from the cia to do that job as national security

chief richard bowers received an anonymous complaint. his department won't tolerate any type of harassment. >> a fire house in college park is locked in a court battle over a fence going up across the street from the branchville volunteer fire department. the firefighters say the fence puts the public in danger. they own the land. the developer didn't want the land contaminated from fire training exercises. the firefighters have moved their trucks outside so they can quickly respond to calls. i love this story. eight little ducklings are back with their mom thanks to the careful rescue of dc's first responders. the ducks fell into a storm drain yesterday. take a look. the mama duck is watching carefully as they try to pry off the corner of 12th street and west grate.
