there's still so much raw emotion this morning after the death of a 6-year-old boy. it's hard to make sense of a child dying that young. even harder to cope with when you learned that xavier lucky was hit and killed while walking home from his birthday party. ♪ ♪ >> he never got to hear his friends sing him happy birthday before he died on a crash on livingston road wednesday night. that group of children you just saw sang it last night at a vigil. xavier's family is describing the person who hit the 6-year-old as a careless driver. so far police have not filed any charges. >> he had to lose his life because someone was careless behind the wheel. >> he was a good friend. we played football. we went to the playground and played on the playground. >> going to miss him? >> still unclear how or why xavier decided to cross livion

chopper 4 was over another terrible accident on our roads. may have been stuck in this bad traffic as police investigated a deadly pedestrian crash yesterday in gaithersburg. a woman was killed crossing the street at the intersection of emery grove and wood field drove. the driver of the truck that hit her stayed on the scene. that wasn't the only deadly crash during the evening russ. a school bus collided with another car in camp springs. there were no children on that bus at the time. you can see the bus went off the road into the trees. the driver of the other car died. the crash shut down part of temple hill's road for several hours. d.c. officials are investigating the death of an n inmate accused of shooting a 9-year-old at a playground. kenneth parker was found unresponsive in his cell yesterday. charged with shooting jayden stancil. he was shot in the head near the shootout. he survived. d.c. jail

released any information on the circumstances surrounding parker's death. this is the second inmate death this month. virginia state police are canceling the amber alert. there's still no sign of them. they found the car the pair was traveling in earlier this week. they disappeared on april 30th while on their way to buck road beach. police had to terminate that amber alert because of policy. they're not supposed to go past seven days. a silver springs family is worried about the missing 92-year-old woman. she suffers from dementia. her family believes she took off from foot in the calverton area of silver springs. call police if you know where she might be. >> reporter: good morning. back here at the live desk. we are getting word of a shooting investigation in southeast d.c. we understand it happe

daniel boak refused to stop. he was wanted on a misdemeanor charge. when officers tried to approach him he put his truck in drive pinning an officer against another car. the medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. new this morning, we now know what sparked a fast-moving town house fire in berk, virginia. a floor lamp was to blame there. the fire started wednesday morning on spring oak court. three people were sent running out of that building. two suffered burns. the third injured in jumping out of that building. new details that will help you navigate metro's final safetrack surge. it will take place next month and impact the red line montgomery county for eight days. it starts june 17th.

reports of possibly some shots fired in the city limits. they responded. we understand they saw a vehicle that matched some sort of description that could have been involved in this. when they began to pursue this, the driver of that vehicle did not stop and this wound up ending up at a park. officers fired shots. the driver of the car is 18-year-old was struck. officers rendered aid as we understand it and then the 18-year-old had to be flown to an area hospital. his injuries or their injuries are described as serious. there was somebody else that was also in the car. we understand it was a juvenile. they were not injured in this. again, this all unfolding a few minutes ago. this information, news into the live desk. we have a crew headed to the scene. as soon as we have an update we'll have it right here. back to you. >> erika, thank you. right nowre
