yesterday's 93 degrees. this morning we are down into the 60s with a fresh breeze coming in from the east. and that has made all the difference. and some clouds as well, but they are not producing any rain. we have had some sunshine in and out and clouds are now back over the metro area. a live view from the tower camera. so the rest of the day is going to be very similar to what has been happening this morning. no more rain on storm team 4 radar. just clouds coming and going here for the rest of the day. a little sunshine in and out with temperatures in the 60s to near 70. reagan national at 70 degrees. we are going to flat line with our temperatures for the rest of the day all the way into the afternoon hovering in the 60s to near 70. look at our chances for rain over the next ten days. that's in just a few minutes. thank you very much. developing this morning, someone was seriously hurt on the university of maryland campus. and a suspect is in custody. >> this happened with a lot of families in town for graduation. and derrick ward is live outside montgomery hall right now with the very latest. hi,

>> reporter: good morning again. well, we have a lot of unanswered questions about this. when we got here this morning, it's been a crime scene. and now the tape has been removed. we don't know if the incident happened inside or outside. if it happened inside and spilled outside or happened outside and spilled inside. it was 4:00 a.m. when police were called here to montgomery hall to the report for a serious cutting. that's how the campus terminology was that they are using for this. one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition. another person is in custody. we don't know if either of these people were students or not. now, this is montgomery hall that houses about 280 students. softmo sophomores or seniors. we talked to a student in the dorms here who said she doesn't feel threats, she feels

>> yes, i do. >> reporter: are you worried something like this can happen again? >> yes, but the police seemed to have it under control. >> reporter: there's a phone mounted as to where this has been. we have talked to parents who, too, feel the security measures here keep the student safe. this incident is under investigation. we don't know much about the identities of anyone involved. we did talk to a student whose window is sort of in that area who says that they heard someone asking if someone else was all right at 4:00 a.m. this morning. that's all we have been able to gleam from this. we are awaiting a response from the campus police. we are live in college park, derrick ward, news4. thank you very much. we don't know how this fire started, but the montgomery county fire department says it was probably an accident. take a lk

pictures from a bus depot near the shady grove metro station. several school buses were damaged in the fire here. one totally destroyed, you can see it there. according to the county, the fire cost an estimated $100,000 in damage. president trump is in saudi arabia right now. we just got brand new information about his visit there. >> and the united states and saudi arabia have agreed to a weapons deal worth $110 billion. and it takes affect immediately. the full deal is worth $350 billion over ten years. it strengthens saudi arabia as an ally. even with that news of a weapons deal, it will be difficult for president trump to avoid questions about the white house's connection to russia. >> hallie jackson explains the impact they could have on the president's visit abroad. >> reporter: president trump touching down in saudi

former trump advisers. but now we're told that the investigation actually reaches into the white house. >> reporter: secretary of state rex tillerson, attorney general jeff sessions and adviser and son-in-law jared kushner have already acknowledged contact with russian officials. the white house says as the president has stated before, a thorough investigation will confirm that there was no collusion between the campaign and any foreign entity. these domestic crises coming as the president begins a critical overseas trip. the first of his presidency. diplomatic land mines at every step. today he'll meet with key middle eastern leaders before a speech tomorrow aimed at the arab world with a message, unite against islamic extremism. then it is israel, the vatican, brussels and sicily. five countries, nine days, no room for error. >> that doesn't take him away from the drama at home. and it doesn't make the challenges of accomplishing anything any easier

there either. >> that was hallie jackson reporting. today is armed forces day. this morning noncommissioned officers will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown in arlington. the joint chiefs of staff and command chairman will be among the group. the ceremony gets underway at 10:00. actually, it's about seven minutes into the ceremony right now. well, expect traffic problems and repair work to continue on macarthur boulevard in northwest. this has been a pain. a century-old water main broke on elliott street there and opened up a sinkhole. crews replaced the pipe on friday night and spent yesterday filling the hole with dirt. it's not clear when macarthur boulevard will reopen fully to traffic. fire totally consumes this furniture refinishing business in montgomery county. take a look at the video here. the flames were so intense at one point that part of the roof collapsed. the firefight was tougher because thereer

busy moment before he hit the gas in the car. the police don't believe this has any link to terrorism. an 18-year-old woman die in the crash. 22 other people were hurt. and right now a state of emergency has been declared in one indiana county. and that is due to all of this. look at that flooding. this was the scene in washington county last night. as you can tell, look at the vehicles that were submerged and entire homes under water. the indiana department of homeland security said a travel warning had been heading for the area, but luckily there are no reports of injuries. and police say the water is receding. 10:11. we'll take a live look outside. it looks like the clouds are starting to break apart a little bit. but the temperatures continue to drop. tom is tracking a much cooler weekend and how soon rain will be back in the forecast. and we have seen a lot more boats on the rivers lately. and you probably noticed out there there's a lot more trash as well. we'll take you aboard a new ride setting a course to clean up the waterws around here.ay

>> reporter: when christopher jones isn't teaching reporters out to operate his boat, he's out picking up trash. he's been working for d.c. water for about eight years. jones is the captain of one of two new skimmer boats along the southwest waterfront. >> we pick up bottles and a lot of wood, just about anything. you may run into anything out here. >> reporter: d.c. water general manager george hawkins says removing all the trash from the rivers is important for the environment. >> it's about 40 to 50 tons of debris a month. 300 to 500 tons at least a year. think about it, that's all in the river. and we are removing it all and getting it out so the river is cleaner for everybody who enjoys it. >> reporter: for brian meyer, removing the debris is also important for boater safety. >> it's greatly important because a lot of times you can't see what is in the water. so you can paddle right into it and not know and just fall off.

so getting the large debris is very important. >> reporter: tommy wells oversees the d.c. department of energy and environment. he wants more people to start enjoying the rivers. and what they have to offer, especially one aspect of the rivers. >> the catfish, in particular, are getting cleaner. if you get any snakehead, by any means, take it home, filet it and put it on the grill. we are trying to get the snakehead out of here and they are good tasting fish. >> reporter: christopher jones has a sweet job getting paid much of his time to be on the river, but it is also rewarding in another way. >> it works both ways because you enjoy yourself and then get a feeling like that. people appreciate what you do. so it makes me feel good, i love it. >> reporter: along the anascostia river, mark seagraves, news4. and if you're putting money on the preakness today, a lot of people are dreaming again, always dreaming. the horse that won the kentucky derby is the favorite up in
