robert collins iii was supposed to sooef his degree from bowie university. instead, he'll be remembered with a moment of silence. a tribute was held last night for collins on the bowie state campus. he died early saturday morning after what witnesses are calling an unprovoked attack. collins was out celebrating after he learned he had been commissioned to serve as a sikd lieutenant in the army. >> i can talk a lot about direction because he was a good person, a great leader, but the one thing i'm going to highlight most is his character. >> bowie state community will be on maryland's college park campus today for graduation. skmensment is being held at the xfinity center as originally planned. we're told collins was following in the footsteps of his father by enlisting in the

covering northern virginia this morning, two 16-year-old boys have been charged with distributing xanax to students. both are students in loudoun county. they shared a drink mixed with xanax with as many as seven eighth graders. none of the middle school students were harmed. they passed a ban last night by a vote of 4-1. the opposing council member said that they will move down the street in front of other businesses. new construction on beach drive could soon make a mess of your morning commute. the project will soon be shifting to its second phase in northwest washington. that involves this highlighted stretch from children's street to broad branch

some riders who don't pay their fares on metro buses are becoming more violent. scott mcfarland and the news 4 eye team uncover a disturbing trend. >> there's a surge in the number of cases of people who cheat paying their fair on metro buses. what's more, our investigation shows an increase in those cases leading to attacks against the bus operators, actual assaults. video obtained by the news 4 iteam through a public records request shows some of those assaults. bus drivers being spit upon, punched, in one dramatic case that went to court earlier this year a passenger actually stabs the bus driver after a dispute over fare cheating.
