county, fair surprised if that was the loudoun county storm to see this storm here. this is for warren county and rappahannock and paige county around luray. and watching this storm, no warning with this storm yet, but loudoun moving into frederick county. you know we'll keep you posted here from the storm center all evening long. >> reporter: a bizarre story out of the district now. we're awaiting the court appearance of a man who was arrested after police caught him paying people for their blood. there are still a lot of unanswered questions in this case, which is puzzling a lot of people. news4's chris gordon is working the story now. chris, what do you know? >> reporter: well, susan, police say he was running a blood bank for poor people in southwest, washington. he would draw their blood and then pay them money for

but police say it's illegal. khoa nguyen is charged with practicing medicine without a license. police got a tip that blood was being bought at an abandoned apartment in southwest. donors were being paid $30 each. an officer saw a large group of people congregating. >> you know, people with $30, people going to go and do it. >> we didn't get the money, the blood drawn or nothing. i haven't even been in the house. i was just one of the few that was in line. >> but you were willing to possibly do this? >> yeah. it was free money. >> a woman told the officer the traffic was coming from her apartment, which was enrolling people in a work study. officers entered. 43-year-old nguyen told them he drew blood from 20 people that day and 20 people the day before. but the officer says nguyen had a ledger swi

the officer said the blood was stored improperly. it was not an approved medical facility and that nguyen had no license to show he was approved or qualified to draw blood. mr. nguyen told police that he works for boston biosource. one of our editors called them this afternoon and the person who answered the phone said that mr. nguyen is a vendor who goes into high-risk areas to collect blood. ahead, how that blood is being used. that's coming up at 6:00. that's the latest from the d.c. superior court where mr. nguyen has not yet appeared before a judge who will determine if he should be released tonight. that's the latest. jim, back to you. >> chris, thank you. we have some breaking news new. police have just made an arrest in the death of an elderly man, killed inside his house in prince george's county. police tell us it was a family member. the man was found dead inside a

that's in ft. washington. news4's mark segraves just broke this news on twitter a moment ago. mark, what can you tell us? >> reporter: good evening, jim. the arrest happened over pauma road. that arrest was made within the last 20 minutes. this all started here on mill street here in ft. washington, at this house, about 9:45 this morning. when police got a call from a family member, who was concerned about the elderly man staying in this home because he did not answer the phone. when police arrived, they looked through the window, they saw the man slumped over and unresponsive. at that point, prince george's county fire department forced their way into the home. police say when they got inside, they found the victim unresponsive, suffering from trauma to the upper body. they said it was obvious this was a murder. they also say that this house was locked up and secure when they got here. so there was no signs of forced entry. that's what made them believe that it was not a random act. this is

neighborhood. neighbors are upset. here's what one of them had to say to us. >> it's unbelievable. i don't believe it. >> how long have you lived in the neighborhood? >> since 1975. >> have you ever seen anything like this in your neighborhood? >> never. >> it's shocking? >> shocking. >> reporter: now, again, an elderly gentleman found murdered in this home in ft. washington. this morning, about 20 minutes ago, a suspect was arrested not far from this location. sources are telling news4 that that suspect is a relative of the victim. that is the very latest here in prince george's county. susan, back to you. >> thanks, mark. in england, police carried out new raids, arresting two more people in connection to the deadly explosion at an ariana grande concert. as the investigation intensifies, the country is showing its support for manchester. today the queen met with some of the survivors of that

bomb-maker may still be at large. >> and as british authorities try to track down more clues in this case, they have stopped sharing intel with their american counterparts. this move after the brits were outraged over leaks that wound up in media reports here in the u.s. news4's leon harris has details on that from our newsroom. what are you hearing? >> a british official is telling the bbc that they're not sharing intelligence, blaming an official for leaking to the press. among the leaks, the name of the bombing suspect, reported by american media just hours after the attack. and yesterday "the new york times" posted photos appearing to show debris from the attack, including a bloody detonator and a piece of the backpack. the acting u.s. ambassador condemned the leaks. british prime minister theresa may said she planned to bring up this issue with president trump. >> we

in the school calendar come 2018. >> we worked to get them shorter. we're looking at having them more integrated into the school schedule, rather than be day-long events. that's a goal of the governing board that i serve on. we talk about it all the time. >> maryland state superintendent of schools says the agency has received, quote, very little feedback about the tests. but at a public meeting in baltimore, a group of prince george's county high school students asked them to scrap the test or at least shrink it. >> when you have a school that has a lot of lower socio-economic students, there is a lot of other concerns like maybe problems at home. so testing is not their main priority as it is getting good grades and trying to work and helping out their families. >> i took two park tests this year, and i'm here to tell you that it's not working and it should be eradicated.

behind us just a taste of what's to come tonight. >> jack just called me, his practice was canceled, his baseball practice. there's a lot of lightning and thunder down there. >> and we'll continue to see that over the next couple of hours. we're seeing the severe thunderstorms roll on through. we're not done with them just yet. >> heavy rainfall, lots of lightning, some reports of hail and gusty damaging winds as well. we finally got some sunshine, and then storms with it. >> we saw the sunshine come through and that helped to initiate the atmosphere and destabilize the atmosphere. numerous storms in the region. the heaviest for frederick and north montgomery county, this storm continuing to develop here. this is the area of the strongest storms, though. we've moved down right along i-95, wood bridge, a ton of lightning associated with this storm. this line of storms from calvert county, into charles county,

lightning with this one too. right around the huntingtown area, route 4, route 2, heads up, 301. you can see the lightning associated with this storm. severe thunderstorm warnings for these areas. mt. vernon, look at all the lightning now. we may see this warning push up into d.c. south fairfax county, wood bridge, and across the river to southern prince george's county. to the west, this one has weakened a little bit. south of front royal, heavy rain here. more rain around martinsburg and winchester. and this one around leesburg, let's zoom in, just to the south of frederick. coming into frederick now, along 340. if you're in buckies town, get ready. you have a big thunder boomer making its way. amelia, this is not a huge severe weather event, but we are going to see some severe impacts. >> and i think t

doug was just showing you rain closing in on 270. there you see the dark skies. still dry roads there, but they're going to be wet rather quickly. look at the severe weather impacts. flash flooding, heavy rain the biggest concern. next would be strong, gusty, damaging winds, potentially hail as well. and we're thinking the severe weather will wind down by about 8:00 p.m. tonight. >> and we're watching this area of low pressure, this upper level low, spinning back to the west. this is where the moisture is. there's another spin on top of us and that's why we have the severe weather. this moves out tonight. tomorrow, 77 degrees, peeks of sun, a little bit of on the windy side. winds 20 to 30 miles an hour. a stray shower could be possible too. the next ten days, 80 degrees on saturday. a good chance of scattered showers and storms. possibly severe.

but never something like this on the eve of an election, where a political candidate is cited or charged for misdemeanor assault right before the election. two-thirds of the vote is already in, absentee. so a lot of people from montana have already made up their minds in this contest. but that said, the one-third who are the day-of voters, which are more persuadable. if you're an early voters, you're probably a strong partisan voters. so the persuadable people could tip the balance, but we're not going to find out until late tonight whether the incident last night impacted the race. >> two-thirds is a lot already cast. that video has gone viral today from europe. president trump appearing to shove past the prime minister of montenegro, this on top of his chastising of nato allies.

continues to afternoon and evening as we track this area of severe thunderstorms moving northeast through the area. look at all of the lightning. as we count the strikes, 130 lightning strikes over the last ten minutes alone. take a look at the latest warning. it includes parts of the district, arlington, alexandria and fairfax, until 6:15. severe warning for prince george's, calvert, st. mary's counties until about 6:00 hour. and that's not all on storm team4 radar. up in frederick right now, a lot of thunderstorm activity around 70, 270 split. and we are getting reports of hail in calvert county. doug's going to let you know how it impacts the weather tomorrow and the weekend in about ten minutes. >> thanks so much, amelia. while

greenbelt too, seeing thunder already. >> yeah, and it's going to continue. we're doing the same thing, monitoring social media outlets. amelia telling me half inch hail in parts of fairfax county. these storms really do mean business. very heavy rainfall associated with these storms. watch out for isolated flash flooding, especially along area roadways. that's what we're seeing now. look at what's happening. fredericksburg, down to the south, i think you folks are just about out of it, but not quite done yet. you may see another round later today. but this is the area of severe weather, new storms developing within this line, and this is a line. look at all of the lightning associated with this, coming from fairfax county, through prince george's county, anne arundel county. i'll zoom in, take the lightning off of this. anywhere pink or darker reds, that's where we have some of the hail. we continue to see that hail being a threat. mostly pea sized hail, but reports upwards of

something to keep in mind as we approach this memorial day, celebrating its true meaning. there's a veterans support group doing just that. they're called "carry the load" and, they organize marches nationwide and also trek across the country, carrying the names of fallen friends on their fully loaded bags. you'll hear more about this group and see as they walk from boston to ground zero to new york to meet with first responders. that's all coming up on "nightly news." >> that's a lot of steps. hats off to them. it's a moving sight every year at arlington national cemetery. >> in a tradition that goes back 60 years, old guard soldiers placed an american flag at all 400,000 graves today. >> kristin wright talked to them about what it

coming through downtown right now. we'll continue to see this over the next hour or so before it starts to move out of here. let's show you what's happening on the radar. the heaviest rain coming through d.c., in through prince george's county, a lot of lightning with the storm. look at this line here, to prince george's county, calvert county as well and frederick. this has been the play-maker, it's caused a lost of hail for st. mary's and calvert county. reports of hail for fairfax county, but right through the district, notice the amount of lightning and the extremely heavy rainfall. taking the lightning off, you can see the red, that's where we have the heavy rain. but even the yellow is still heavy rain and we're going to continue to see that whole line moving north. another area of strong thunderstorms, these just developed within the last half hour to 45 minutes. right around bethesda, over towards rockville, making their way to olney
