afternoon. but by and large, not a whole lot of sunshine here the first part of the day. you can see on storm team 4 radar just a couple sprinkles way up across parts of northern maryland. no rain around the d.c. metro area, but a whole lot of cloud cover. couldn't rule out a stray sprinkle. not much to impact your day. we will break out into a fair amount of sunshine, enough to make today about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. we were only 74 with the rain yesterday. we should be 84 degrees this afternoon. again still carrying a small 30% chance for showers into the afternoon. but again, if you need to go to the pool, don't forget your spf. >> thank you so much, chuck. today is memorial day and all over our area, there will be tributes to remember the brave men and women who died for our country. >> and one will take place at arlington national cemetery where thousands of soldiers are buried. justin finch is live with more on the

>> reporter: good morning. we can tell you large crowds are expected here as well. already we have seen flags and place cards for the fallen here as well as mourners gathering to have a moment of reflection or two here at the wall. and later today, there will be a ceremony here to honor the men and women who have served. a culmination of a week of tributes in our area. we know that on sunday, 300 plus volunteers did place 160,000 flowers on graves of the fallen at arlington national cemetery. and today some 75 volunteers will hand out 30,000 roses to visitors and their families at arlington. they will be based at the welcome section where many iraq and afghanistan service members are now interred. and we know that president trump as well will be visiting arlington national cemetery today. there will also be a national day of remembrance today at 3:00 this

where they will have their ceremony today in honor of the vietnam veterans who have given their lives and sacrificed so much for us here. back into you. >> justin, thank you. folks are gearing up for the national memorial day parade in d.c. today. that parade itself runs along constitution avenue between 7th and 17th streets. road closures begin starting at 9:00 this morning. it doesn't kickoff uni willti u. several roads will be closed beginning 1:00 around the national mall and all closures should wrap up around 5:00 p.m. and due to the holiday, metro won't open until 7:00 this morning. the all five orange line stations are still closed. red line the rhode island avenue station is closed to concrete repairs. buses are replacing trains betweenro

all others are running trains a. every 20 minutes. parking is free today and no mark train service today. and we have a complete roundup of memorial day events happening around town inside the nbc washington app. montgomery county police on the lookout for a group of people who beat up a man outside a motel killing him. detectives say the 24-year-old was attacked outside the day's inn on 13th street yesterday morning. he died at the hospital. police don't know why he was attacked, but are treating the death as a homicide. in the district police are looking for more than one person involved in a shooting that left one man dead and several others injured. police are describing the incident as heartless and callus. it happened just south much bloomingdale neighborhood on q street northwest early saturday. 32-year-old similharvey jones w killed. men

he wanted to make sure that there was a tribute for him like other soldiers buried here. colonel shelton knew the tribute would require a trip to he wiee salvad salvador. >> it was months and finally came to me and said i want to honor him. >> reporter: this 18-year-old is a junior and also a native of he will salvadore. for this year's spring break, he was going home. >> i wanted to represent the program at the school over there and i feel proud for what i did. >> reporter: in his full dress uniform, he carried a wreath to place on the sergeant's gravesite in a slow refverent march. >> and it was done very well. >> reporter: but it meant finding the cemetery, reach rg out to the family and securing a wreath before he left the u.s. this video brought his fellow cadets to tears. >> it was actually when they saw the video that it hit home,

picture here early this morning would lead you to believe. sun is already up, but you'd never guess to look out there early this morning. 64 degrees currently in washington, it's really note ra not raining much, but there is a lot of fog and mist early this morning. 65 in manassas, 64 frederick, maryland. 63 martinsburg, 62 in clinton, maryland and 64 down in st. mary's county. again, a little mist and fog around the metro area, but any real steady rain chances are way out here west of hagerstown and up into part of southern pennsylvania. that is where the bulk of the rain threat will stay. this weather front will be sagging down through here during the afternoon today. might fire off one or two more rounds ev s of showers between and 3:00 or 4:00. but any severe weather threat is well to our south. so maybe a passing shower, but not really much of a thunderstorm chance for us today. so 40% about chance of mist and drizzle and light rain between now and about 8:00 this morning. sunshine bin

night. he was a student at quinn park high school inbrandywine. he died in a car crash. they chanted 51, the number of his jersey as they walked to his parent's house in clinton. his teammates organized the vigil as a way of coming together and supporting his family. >> we just showed love to his parents, his mom and coach hayes and the football team because it hurt. so just wanted to bring the whole school together. >> white was killed tuesday night after losing control of his car in clinton. prince george's police still trying to figure out what happened. anyone with information is asked to give them a call. you may be one of the people worried about all the children that we hear about going missing in washington, d.c. the city just started a website to try to explain how many of them are found. missing.dc dot governor show that 90%
