someone attacked a man at w street west. he was awake and breathing when paramedics arrived. we don't know exactly how badly he was hurt. we also have calls out to police to see whether they arrested anyone in this case. for the fifth time in less than a month, a noose was found hanging somewhere that our kids and our communities go to learn. it was found yesterday inside the national museum of african-american history and culture. >> this morning the smith zone any's -- justin finch has the latest reaction. >> reporter: good morning. for those who were there, it was simply startling. suddenly being asked to leave the exhibition without knowing what was going on. once they were told, visitors tell us with words that were simple and solemn, that they felt shocked, sadness and outrage. this all begins about 1:00 or so on wednesday afternoo

finding a noose hanging in a permanent exhibit on the museum's second level about segregation. now at that point the museum had to come in, ask those visitors to leave. the park police came in and removed the noose and began to investigate. they're condemning that noose and the symbol of violence against african-americans. >> there are people who for whatever reason can't seem to find be a way to live with their fellow human beings, but they're far out numbered, far out numbered by the millions and millions of people who do. >> reporter: the museum saying this is a reminder of how important their work is, too. of course, the museum was shut down for a few hours as park police did investigate. however, the concern is for many who are here yesterday, how was someone able to

hanging from light posts. and that happened as the first female black president took over as student council president. then on may 11th a teacher found a noose hanging from a light fixture at crosson middle school. two 19-year-old men were arrested and charged with hate crimes. last week a noose was found near a museum. no one has been arrested. for the fifth time in a little over a month a noose was found inside the national museum of the african-american museum of history and culture. 6:06. a man who d.c. police found with a pistol. assault rifle, will face weapons charges. brian knowles checked into that hotel just before 1:00.m

suspect -- when officers got to the scene, the suspect was holding the machete and had to be tased to drop it. the 16-year-old is now charged as an adult. >> reporter: i'm molette green at the live desk. a city councilman stabbed in philadelphia. the man's name is david oh. he's in critical but stable condition this morning. philly police say someone tried to rob him and then attacked him near his home. they say oh was trying to get out of his car at the time. this happened late last night. a man approached him and the would-be robber stabbed him and took off. oh lived in the west philly neighborhood and has lived there for dangers. getting a license in the district means you're automatically registered to vote. the washington post is reporting this is included in a spending measure thatee

low 80s saturday staying nice and dry. today is june 1st. that is the official start of hurricane season. chuck bell standing by with a look at what we may be able to expect. >> yes, indeed. hurricane season. they think it's going to be a slightly above average season for the number of named storms. how many might we expect? this is video from hurricane isabel which came right into the chesapeake bay in 2004. a lot of rain here. still the high water mark in places like annapolis and habinigrace. it had an 8 to 10 foot storm surge. we are not immune to the effects of a hurricane. the forecast, about 11 to 17 named storms, 5-9 hurricanes. 2-4 hurricanes in the major category. three or higher. as a general rule, we don't have to worry too much about hurricane strikes until we get later on in the summer. highestis
