someone attacked a man at w street west. he was awake and breathing when paramedics arrived. we don't know exactly how badly he was hurt. we also have calls out to police to see whether they arrested anyone in this case. for the fifth time in less than a month, a noose was found hanging somewhere that our kids and our communities go to learn. it was found yesterday inside the national museum of african-american history and culture. >> this morning the smith zone any's -- justin finch has the latest reaction. >> reporter: good morning. for those who were there, it was simply startling. suddenly being asked to leave the exhibition without knowing what was going on. once they were told, visitors tell us with words that were simple and solemn, that they felt shocked, sadness and outrage. this all begins about 1:00 or so on wednesday afternoo

finding a noose hanging in a permanent exhibit on the museum's second level about segregation. now at that point the museum had to come in, ask those visitors to leave. the park police came in and removed the noose and began to investigate. they're condemning that noose and the symbol of violence against african-americans. >> there are people who for whatever reason can't seem to find be a way to live with their fellow human beings, but they're far out numbered, far out numbered by the millions and millions of people who do. >> reporter: the museum saying this is a reminder of how important their work is, too. of course, the museum was shut down for a few hours as park police did investigate. however, the concern is for many who are here yesterday, how was someone able to
