police say it started when three men in a white van swerved into a crowd of people walking across the bridge mowing down everyone in the path. and they then droe ve to boroug market and started talking people with large knives. >> everybody all over the bars and they run in and stabbing everyone. everyone run, run, run, glasses, chairs. i tried to help as many people as i could. if i would have fell over, they probably would have killed me. >> the death toll stands at 7, nearly 50 injured. police say all three suspects were shot and killed by police officers within eight minutes. >> president trump has been briefed on the attack and he is reacting on twitter this morning. he said, quote, we must stop being politically correct and appeared to krit are size london's mayor for his xhent

forces here outside this embassy. we've also seen some local reaction among the people reacting, d.c. mayor muriel bowser with a couple tweets. first off, our thoughts and prayers are with the city of london, the victims, families and first responders. and shortly after that, another tweet, we have been briefed by d.c. police on the situation in london and there are no credible threats to washington, d.c. but again, this being an international city, it's not hard to find someone with some connection. we talked to on a gentleman who actually lived in london for some time, he lived also in vauxhall, the scene of one of the attacks. take a listen. >> what is going on now is incredible. only prayer can do this, only prayer can change this mind because this is the complete mindset, this is the complete philosophy, the complete science, whatever you want to call it. the spirit. nobody wins

a spokesperson for london's mayor is responding to a tweet from president trump. the spokesperson says, quote, he has more important things to do that be respond to donald trump's ill informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks urging londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police. >> the president's latest tweet this morning appearing to criticize london's mayor for his response to the attack, helping us i guess digest all of this. chuck todd, you're coming up with your show. but what do you make of this back and forth between the london mayor and the president? >> the president trump i think, you know, not shocking that his tweets sort of get ahead of information and who knows if somebody fed him the wrong information or if he was intentionally trying to make the individual, the marriyor of lon,

up. just another unforced error on his part, you know, to come across like the guy at the end of the bar being cranky about what he sees on television. i think the other important tweet that he made, what is interesting there, had to do with using to make the case to get his travel ban reinstated here. but it actually misses the larger conversation with what theresa may said and she really put the finger on two things. number one, she said this is copycat. it's not related with the manchester attack which some might find that good news, but it's a concern that we have a copycat situation and she said this very strong language, that this extremism has been tolerated for too long and she pointed the finger at many digital companies that need to help out. whatsapp and facebook, figuring out how to police it is a challenge.

have a first amendment, they don't. so walking that line of curtailing a community of people from being able to communicate online, programs the u comfort thinks that they have the power to do that and maybe there will be support for that. but here in the united states, that first amendment is pretty strong. >> so switching gears to james comey who will be testifying before the senate committee on thursday, after the shocking accusation that president trump allegedly pressured him to end the investigation into his former nsa director, what do we expect to learn? >> well i think there are two lines of questioning that i expect be him to talk about, that he will feel comfortable talking about. the first has to do with the meetings with the president and the pressure that he believes at least if you believe the folks that we've talked to that are close to him that it was the russia investigation was the reason why director comey was fi

questioning that you will see is that there was reports that perhaps it was fake intelligence to do what he did on the clinton e-mails. and i think that you will see that line of questioning get a big moment of attention. i think what you won't hear is a lot of details on the state of the russia investigation. i think on that front he will play law enforcement by and say i'm not going to get ahead of the current investigation going on. but take a step back here. this is going to go in the pantheon of moments where washington stops. it happened with anita hill, with ollie north, in watergate, the first time at the mccarthy hearings. this has that level of i think curiosity and also importance of what we will hear. >> and lastly another big topic for the show today, the paris agreement and the decision to pull out of it. what stands out? >> what stood out to me is both -- i talked to the

arrest 12 others this morning in about connection with the attack. a benefit concert in manchester will have increased security tonight following the attacks in london. the concert will benefit the victims of last month's attack outside of a ariana grande performance. 18 people have been arrested in connection to that investigation. 11 remain in custody. and closer to home, we'll take you to the district where in southeast one church and the neighborhood will hold a march and rally after a noose was found nearby. that noose discovered earlier this week as a construction site which is across the street from a school. tonight's rally starts at 6:00 at the east washington heights baptist church. two local firefighters will be added to the maryland wall of honor in annapolis. captain christopher hill and master firefighter recruiter -- or rescue served in montgomery county. a taste of summer on june 4th.
