course. 301 south of gunston road. cleanup happening now. inner loop and outer loop, more on this problem in bowie coming up. thank you, melissa. breaking news this morning, two people are dead in a mysterious shooting montgomery village. this all happened on gallery court which is a pretty secluded cul-de-sac. >> news 4's justin finch is live on what led neighbors to call police last night. justin, what's the latest? >> reporter: hey there, angie. good morning. it was the sound of gunfire that got a neighbor to call 911 last night. that brought montgomery county police here to this scene to just about that area right there where that car was found last night. that wet spot there gives you a sense of where that vehicle was. inside that car they did find two people, two people dead inside that parked car. here ace a look at that e.

there was broken glass that did spill out onto the 8200 block here. again, inside two people were deceased, dead, apparent gunshot wounds we now have learned. major crime division is now on this case, and back out live again, that is where that vehicle was parked. that wet spot is where crews came in to wipe away the remains of that scene. at this time, no identifications of the people who were inside that car. that could come with more updates due out today. there is a reward of up to $10,000 being offered for tips leading to an arrest in this case. we are live here montgomery village. i'm justin finch, news 4. back to you. >> justin, thank you very much. we want you to take a good look at this surveillance here. d.c. police hope you can help them solve a deadly shooting in northwest d.c. it shows a shooting that killed algernon harvey and injured seven others on memorial day weekend. d.c. police released a video in the sha

also injured when a truck packed with military grade explosives blew up in an area of that city that houses embassies and government buildings. no group has claimed responsibility. angie, back to you now. >> molette, thank you. just in, people in london just held a moment of silence for the victims from this weekend's terror attack. police are out in force around the london bridge this morning. they are looking at some new video into the newsroom as they continue to search for anyone connected to the attack that killed seven people and injured dozens. the suspected attackers were also killed. so far we know two of their names. neighbors say they reported him to radical islam. a third suspect has not been named. president trump used the london terror attack to make the case for his travel ban on twitter. >> it's raising questions of whether his tweets could come back t

that left five people dead. the orange county sheriff said john newman jr., recently fired worker from an awning company followed through with a plan to kill his former colleague. newman singled out five people shooting them in the head before killing himself. he said he knew the gunman and said he never saw it coming. >> what he did, you know, i'm shocked. i'm really shocked to hear that that came out of him, you know? but that just shows you how people can be hurting inside so bad and nobody enos. >> now the sheriff says newman had a negative relationship with at least one of his former co workers. he wouldn't say why newman was fired in april. despite the pleas of the victim's mother and prosecutors, two 17-year-old girls convicted in a school bathroom brawl last year in delaware get very little or no jail time. the brawl led to the death of amy joyner

of six months in a juvenile residential facility and then the other got 18 months of community supervision and a third girl was acquitted back in april. hard to believe, but today marks 73 years since u.s. and allied forces stormed the beaches of normandy marking a key turning point in world war ii. there will be services to remember d day. more than 100 veterans and volunteers will clean up the world war ii memorial on the national mall. thursday is a special day in our area, especially for nonprofit organizations. more than 600 of them are trying to raise as much money as they can in a 24-hour period. it is called do more 24 and it's a day-long fundraising drive coordinated by the united way. you can find out more about do more 24 in our nbc washington app. two weeks away from father's day, our day.

3-year-old, 1-year-old. i'll probably get nice drawings. americans as a whole though, they're expected to spend more than ever. the national retail federation just did a survey on father's day shopping. shoppers will spend on average 135 bucks on dad. that's up from $126 last year. $9 more. today's spending is expected to be the highest ever. whopping $15.5 billion. you think that's a lot of ties, right? it will be spent on special outings, baseball game, concert, dinner. survey shows those are the things a majority of dads love to receive the most. >> and the homemade gifts, we talked about that, right? >> i just want some peace and quiet. let me be. maybe ten minutes by my zblef youth and children. >> not something -- >> we love them. not something you'd expect to see in d.c., but you should watch out for coyotes. >> everybody is talking about this. many d.c. pet owners are on high alert. one man said he was walking his

"news 4 today" begins with breaking news. >> at 6:29, we continue to follow breaking news this morning. this was the scene last night on gallery court montgomery village. about a dozen detectives collecting evidence from a double murder scene. things are much calmer now as you take a live look. montgomery county police are still trying to figure out why the two people were killed. news 4's justin finch will have a live report on that investigation. we're also following a number of big stories for you today here on "news 4 today." we have team coverage from new projects on metro to a

county police are investigating a double murder there. news 4's justin finch live with how neighbors woke up to gunsho gunshots. adam, good morning. close to 11:00, the sound of blasting bullets from this quiet lot got neighbors up to call 911 alerting montgomery county police to the spot just above the mailbox. that wet spot is where a car was parked and two people were found dead inside. i want to take you now to video. this is how this double homicide investigation did begin. dark blue honda civic sedan. inside two people were dead. those people for some reason were brought to this area and were found dead inside their vehicle. let's take you back out live. you can see the wet spot is where that honda civic was parked. that spot was washed away. washed away

investigation overnight here. we do know at this time police have not identified those who were inside that vehicle. updates are due out sometime this morning. we spoke to neighbors off camera. they tell us this is not something they would ever expect on their block. they describe it as very quiet, very family oriented and not a major thoroughfare. how that vehicle got here and how they died remains a mystery. live from montgomery village, justin finch, news 4. >> thank you very much. president trump used the london terror attack to make the case for his travel ban on twitter. his latest tweet says, quote, that's right, we need a travel ban for certain dangerous countries, not some politically correct term that won't help us protect our people. end quote. the president's tweet could complicate his efforts to persuade the supreme court to reinstate that ban. >> plus, take a good look at this surveillance

can. d.c. police hoping you can help them with a deadly shooting. algernon harvey died and 7 others were hurt. police say that the group may have been gambling when the shooting began. metro plans to make security changes after the agency put hard drives up for public auction. the problem, personal and business information was still on those hard drives. thousands of files could have been compromised when computers used by metro are auctioned or thrown away, all of the files are supposed to be erased. that didn't happen with two computers. meanwhile, metro has replaced so many wooden rail ties during safetrack that you could stack them as high as the washington monument, two times. that's a lot. that's one of many reasons why metro says that safetrack has been a success. what comes next? news 4's derrick ward is live with a look at that. hey, derrick. >> reporter: hey. well, you know, three years worth of work in a year's time, it is something to crow about,

happened to her one night in 2004 in bill cosby's home. the prosecution, however, has gun with a sto begun with a different woman. kelly johnson says she was also drugged and molested by bill cosby in 1996 in los angeles. she was an assistant at the talent agency for bill cosby. he invited her, according to her, over to his hotel, the bel air, for lunch. while she was there she was given what she described as a large white pill that left her incapacitated. now on cross examination she faced some tough questions from the defense team that went after her sequence of events and her memory of them. she was shaken. she was crying. today testimony will likely continue. the judge is going to decide whether her mother can take the stand to corroborate her story. back to you guys. >> stephanie gosk live in norristown. jury trial starts in the sex e
