now, they're working on outbound lanes. aaron. >> melissa, thank you. it's 5:02 right now. this morning, two montgomery county families that were supposed to be preparing to send their kids to college are planning funerals. this is shadi najjar and artem ziberov. the two high school seniors were killed while sitting in a car in german village. najjar's father said his son told him he'd be late coming home tuesday night. like most parents he asked for the teen to keep in contact. but that final check-in from najjar would never come. >> it was 1:00 or 2:00, he did not answer. i waited. i asked are you okay? are you okay, my boy? are you all right? >> now, coming up, news4's justin finch will have more on the investigation and the resources available for grieving students at northwest high schools. you're looking at chopper 4 footage of a frightening situation in

night. take a look, montgomery county investigators say at least one child is being treated for minor injuries after a fire inside a storm drain tunnel near north better this bethesda middle school. apparently there were other children involved. a prince george's mother faces 45 years in prison for suffocating her son and daughter. she pled guilty to killing her children inside they are home in cheverly back in 2014. days before their death spoon received a mental health evaluation after the children's grandmother called police. she killed the children two days after she was released. we're getting new developments in the russia investigation this morning. >> angie goff is at the live desk with details. angie good morning. >> we can tell

report angie was going to tell us centers around the director of intelligence dan coats and the president. and now coats reportedly said he thought intervening would be inappropriate. a spokesman for the director said coats never felt pressured by the administration or any others to influence any intelligence matters or ongoing investigation. eun. let's take you live to capitol hill in just a few hours coats will appear before the senate intelligence committee. and he will likely face tough questions about that "washington post" report. this hearing could also provide new information in the russia investigation. the witnesses include coats and several other key people connected to the investigation. as we reported, coats will

and then silence. that is what one montgomery village man says he heard on monday night on gallery court. and his security camera at his home recorded it. he later learned that two teenagers were killed right on his street. shadi najjar and artem ziberov were killed. montgomery county police are trying to figure out why the young men were in that neighborhood. >> the two honor roll students were supposed to graduate from northwest high school the very next morning. >> this morning, justin finch is live at the high school with more on the resources available to students there. >> reporter:

doubt a hard week for students and staff at northwest high school. that's why they had grief counselors at yesterday's graduation. we now know they will be back on campus. northwest now grieving two rising seniors, 18-year-old artem ziberov, as well as 17-year-old shadi najjar. both set to graduate yesterday. we now know najjar's cap and gown were still unopened at his father's home when we visited him yesterday. ziberov an najjar were found shots to death. now, the father has a very stern message for his son's killer. >> why? why? why you kill my son? what you have to gain? your anger? you're going to be caught. >> reporter: and najjar says this has been

who had to be hospitalized briefly as a result of her grief. we are hearing that najjar's funeral should be happening today at 1 room 30 in the afternoon. aaron, eun. >> all right. justin, these two young men were pretty far from home. what are police saying is the possible motive for the murders? >> reporter: police are saying that remains murky. they're working to figure out where ziberov and najjar were and who they were with hours before their death. that's why they're reaching out to friends and the public for any help they can get to provide that time line. >> justin, thank you. >> now, the entire school community observed a moment of silence yesterday at dar constitution hall. shadi najjar 17 years old and artem ziberov, 18, had been going to the same schools since middle school. >> i h

artem and shadi's principal at the middle school and now. we stand true to our motto, all for one. >> as we mentioned before, grief counselors will be at the school to help students and staff. here is a look at some of the top stories this morning. another person is in custody this morning in england. police arrested a 30-year-old man in connection to the attack in downtown london. he is the second person in custody right now. seven people were killed in the attack this past weekend. all of the attackers were shot dead by police. police are not saying how the two people arrested are connected to the attack. today, the man accused of killing two passengers and hurting a third on a portland train last month will be arraigned. 35-year-old jeremy christian is facing multiple charges including aggravated murder. witnesses say he yelled hateful comments at two

today, in the bill cosby trial, the defense will continue questioning the accuser. constand called the experience humiliate, yesterday, the defense highlighting the inconsistencies in her story. dozens of women are accusing the comedian of sexual misconduct. he has denied all of the allegations. we're learning more about the 24-year-old contractor charged in the first intelligence leak case. prosecutors say reality winner leaked to an online magazine. winner spent six years in the air force as an intelligence analyst. her mother spoke to nbc news about her arrest. >> my biggest fear at this time is that they will try to make an example of her. they caught, you know, their first big

instrument that can steal your bank information. >> well, now, there is a new warning to keep in mind next time you fill up your gas tank. news4's angie goff shows us how you may not notice stealing your information. >> a lot of us go to the gas pumps every week. you need to think about this. and now people are worried about skimmers that you can't even see. even if you're looking for them. fairfax county police saying they're seeing scammers hide new kinds of blue tooth skimmers that are you actually inside the gas station pumps themselves. they posted these pictures. this is on facebook showing how intricate of a scam with devices installed inside of that pump. even though it can be hard to detect. there are some things you can do to protect yourself. try to avoid the older gas pumps, they say. those are easier to alter, to manipulate. also use a credit card not a deb the or a
