stopped for about 30 minutes because of that demonstration. but police say they were prepared, and they had a plan. the capital pride parade temporarily shut down by protesters, and many were angry. the group, no justice, no pride, suddenly stopped and refused to move. forcing police to reroute the parade. the group was protesting police participation in the parade, and some corporate sponsorships. >> we're all here as those who are willing to get in the streets for our community. i just don't know doing it against our own community is a productive way to go. >> reporter: the police chief was there in the middle of the protests, which he says was expected. some said they supported the protesters and others say this was not the right time. >> this is a ver

father shares his joys, and fears at the funeral for his murdered son. he was just 18 years old. he was an eagle skou acout. he and his friend, 17-year-old jamar were found murdered inside a car monday. on the eve of their graduation from northwest high school in germantown. tonight his father shares his message ris. >> he was a beloved son. before i knew how beloved he was to the rest of the community, he was a very loved son at home. because of all the busyness that happens throughout the day, the grief is there. but you have to -- you know, you have to focus on the things that need to get done. but now i'm kind of scared of what

happen. because the pace will settle down a little bit. and i think we'll probably feel it more. but we're learning to cope. >> so sad. he said he only has good memories. no regrets of his last moments with his son who paused to say good-bye to him before going out with friends the night he was killed. police have not arrested anyone, but the chief is confident the case will be solved. in northeast washington, remembering a murdered teenager today on what would have been her 19th birthday. mccallister was killed last march on east capital where she was meeting friends. she was home from college on spring break. today her parents made a plea for information about her murder, and said how they want the violence to end. >> that this community now has cameras. when iana was shot, there was no cameras. it is really about community safety. nobody should have to bury their child. we're really hoping this mm

>> her killer has yet to be found. she was a freshman at st. augustine university. we're learning new details about the crash in adams morgan that sent two bike patrol officers to the hospital thursday. one of the officers is now recovering at home. that officer was released from the hospital last night. the pickup truck driver who hit them is charged with assault with intent to kill. police say they found a military style weapon in the truck, a d.c. department of transportation aide was also hit and they're expected to recover. a new twist in the topless sun bathing controversy in ocean city. now, earlier this week, beach patrol was told not to hassle women who want to go topless. today the city council said no to their family-friendly beach. they passed an emergency ordinance saying people don't have a constitutional right to

a woman challenged the law. the beach patrol was told not to tell people to cover up until a ruling came down. so, it's certainly beach weather these days. >> i put on my graphic tonight, pretty much the best place to be tomorrow, the pool or the beach. it's going to be hot out there. plenty of sunshine. no record highs in the forecast tomorrow. but we could certainly hit a new record on monday as woel as tuesday. take a look at your weather headlines. we're tracking the first heat wave of the year. a heat wave, loosely defined as three consecutive days where we hit 90 degrees or higher. we're going to be at 90 or higher sunday through wednesday. now, take a look at your second weather headline. it is bone dry. plenty of sunshine through our tuesday. the mugginess sets in on wednesday. we're going to be tracking some late day thunderstorms on wednesday. more on that in a moment. let's talk about the rest of your weekend right now. currently we're in the 60s and 70s. it's going

tonight. here in washington, lows dipping to only 72. right now at 77. frederick and manassas, already more comfortable, already around 70 degrees. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, 72 in the district. low to mid-70s in the suburbs. it's a mild, comfortable start. but we warm up quickly. by lunchtime, we're already in the low 90s. high tomorrow afternoon of 95 degrees. not too humid, though, tomorrow. 90 degrees, though, still around 8:00 in the evening. certainly hot if you're planning to grill out tomorrow on your sunday. take a look how the weather's going to impact your day tomorrow. exercise, get out there earlier. i was on facebook tonight, a lot of people talking about and commenting if they're going to be walking the dog or going for a run, the earlier the better. the nationals game later in the day tomorrow. definitely you want the sunscreen especially if your seats are in the sun. then the capital pride concert going on. make sure you're drinking plenty of water. temperatures starting out in the

heading to the pool or beach, just a perfect day for that. on monday, record warmth in the forecast. the record at reagan national, 95 set back in 2002. a high of 96, still plenty of sunshine in the forecast. and then on tuesday, take a look at your ten-day forecast. 97 for a high. which would be another record high temperature. the record at reagan national 96. wednesday, still in the 90s. 92 for a high. also very muggy. here you can see the 50% chance of late day showers and thunderstorms. not a huge threat for severe weather. but we could see some very slow moving storms that could bring some very heavy rainfall and lead to flooding across the area. again, tomorrow on into at least monday, storm team 4 weather alert as we track our first heat wave of the year. as we look to thursday, partly to mostly cloudy skies, more comfortable. low 80s. upper 70s. then unsettled, chance of storms next weekend,
