it hasn't been showing slowing down anyone though at today's capital pride event. news 4 darcy spencer is live at tonight's festival. more from her in a minute. first, let's check in with our meteorologist. it is so hot out there. >> it's not the warmest day so far this year. our official high at reagan national, 93 degrees. but what today marks the beginning of our first heat wave this year. heat wave again, i said this yesterday, i'll say it today. it is loosely defined as three consecutive days where we're 90 degrees or higher. take a look at the current heat index. this is when you add in the humidity. right now you may not think this is the case. the humidity is not all that bad. currently our heat index across the area in the low 90s. the temperature also right at 90 degrees. but here's the thing. look at your morning planner tomorrow. not only it is warmer but feeling more comfortable. 7:00 a.m.,

a church celebrated a major milestone this weekend. it is one 150th anniversary. jesse norman helped them celebrate today. she was a soloist at the church 50 years ago when she was a student at howard. you may notice a change along the national mall. parking meters starting tomorrow the national park service will activate meters in several popular areas. that means you're going to have to pay. you can see the areas on this map. the only free parking is on ohio drive in east potomac park. it is

he did confessing both of them and killing brown's boyfriend. these are the moments here when police go in and rescue her. so besides the boyfriend's body, police found two others on the property. tonight nbc news talks to one of the men who rescued her. he describes what was like to find her in such terrible conditions. that is tonight right after news 4 at 6:00. we are learning new detail about a crash that sent a maryland state trooper to the hospital. he was working an accident scene in prince george's county erie they are morning. an impaired driver struck his patrol car from behind and also hit a pedestrians who was involved in the initial crash. news 4 raes derrick ward has more on how this all unfolded. >> one crash led to another. when it was over, the roadway would be scattered with twisted metal even debris. a maryland state troop woesh hospital yigsed and a maryland man charged with udi. it was 3. 306789 in the morning.

now the drill at this point. our second weather headline, not only it is hot and humid but mainly dry through tuesday. on wednesday we'll have some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms that cool us down then for the rest of the work week. i have to say, it is going to be down right muggy, uncomfortable, sticky out there on wednesday. the humidity levels continue to climb. currently the temperatures are in the upper 80s and low 90s. 90 degrees in washington. tomorrow morning, 75 degrees. so it's already a warm start. low 90s by lunch time. also noticing the humidity more so tomorrow. plenty of sunshine though virtually blue skies in the forecast once again. a high of 96. you have dinner plans outdoors, you might want to make them indoors unless you love the heat. 90 degrees at 8:00 in the evening and dry at that point. the commute, hopeful lit air is working in your car. you definitely need it. heading to the pool, the place to be with the kitd. make sure you have the sunscreen. if you're going to the playground, make sure it has lots of
