glenmont this morning. here's the other issue on 295 near malcolm x avenue, the milling and paving project has some slowdowns. it looks a lot better than it did earlier here this morning. right now no major issues on any major roadways. 95 northbound after woodbridge is a little bit slow and 66 in bound near manassas, same situation there. aaron? >> melissa, thank you. news 4's megan mcgrath continues our team coverage of the heat at the vienna metro station. >> megan, how are people getting ready to deal with the heat? >> well, they're wearing light clothing. we're seeing a lot of people in shirt sleeves and sun dresses and the like because it's going to be very, very hot later on today. right now actually though, not too bad. about 69 degrees at my last check here. not bad. we know all of that is going to change as the day wares on. we are expecting temperatures in the mid 90s.

like that, you need to take a few precautions. here are a couple of tips. first of all, limit outdoor activity if you can. stay inside where there is air conditioning. also, stay hydrated. that's really, really important to make sure you have enough water. also, keep pets inside. last year in fairfax county, 22 cases of incidents with dogs. also if you have to exercise, either exercise early, like right now is perfect, or exercise late. now some people not too keen on the heat, but a little while i talked to a man who works outside and he said, you know what, he's ready for a little summer heat wave. >> it's about time. because we had like a mild winter, but it was cold. i'm out here for four hours enjoying the company and doing my job, meeting great people. and it's nice to have heat. i'd rather beho

from violating anticorruption laws. we first heard about this from "the washington post." they'll brief the justice department on how this could work. the justice department earlier in the year said it didn't have legal standing. first lady melania trump and baron are waking up in the white house this morning. they made their move to d.c. official yesterday. they had been living at trump tower in new york city with barron to finish school there. the first lady tweeted out the picture #moving day" she wrote. looking forward to the memories we are making at home. barron will attend school in the fall. this morning it is still

unclear when upward bound restaurant roof started to bow. this was the scene in northwest d.c. yesterday afternoon. they opened a little over a year ago. it was part of the area that started to shift. d.c. fire and ems said excessive weight caused the deck to shift. thankfully no one was hurt. maryland state trooper is out of the hospital this morning after being hit by a suspected drunk driver. this latest incident happened in upper marlboro early saturday morning. police say the driver showed signs of being under the influence after that accident. ♪ ♪ the capitol pride festival has wrapped up along pennsylvania avenue, but now we are learning that one local lawmaker says she was left out of the weekend festivities.

norton said she never got an invitation from parade organizers. she was put on a wait list and she was told she would have to pay $600 in fees not to pay. capital pride organizers are looking into what happened. the festivals are taking the time for those who are killed. sarah rosario will show us how vision orlando are remembering the victories. that sealed it. the pittsburgh penguins are stanley cup champions again after defeating the nashville predators last night. it is the second straight championship for the penguins, and the second consecutive mvp win for penguins star sidney crosby. pittsburgh has now won five stanley cup finals which is the sixth most in nhl o

london bridge attack. we've just learned that police there have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of violating the terrorism act. police are already holding six other men in that car and knife attack that left eight people dead. that is the latest from the live desk. back to you. >> molette, thank you. 6:13 right now. more than half the people voted for referendum for state hood in puerto rico. it was the lowest voter turnout since 1967. congress will have the final say in any changes to the island's political status. it is a day of remembrance in orlando and across the country. it's been one year since a terrorist stormed into the pulse nightclub and killed 49 people. over the weekend mourners have been honoring those killed. the memories of that tragic night still haunt so many

still live with the wounds from that shooting. nbc's sarah rosario is live in orlando now. the look at this day being called orlando united day. sarah, i remember being there last year and they were talking about orlando being strong and that's the theme carrying over into this year. >> reporter: yeah, that's right, aaron. we saw the city of orlando come together like never before in the aftermath of last year's shooting. that's what today is all about. this is remembering those 49 men and women who were killed here a year ago odd and now their message is we will not let hate win. it's a message they continue to spread today as they honor and remember those lives lost. today pulse nightclub stands as a public memorial with many people lighting candles, putting out pictures, laying flowers for those victims. this as survivors, families and loved ones

state fraternity pledge was fatally hurt. timothy piazza died from traumatic brain injuries after he fell down the stairs after a night of heavy drinking. fraternity members waited 12 hours to get piazza help. today we'll find out if there is enough evidence to put those members on trial. and today marks 50 years since the supreme court struck down state bans on interracial marriage. the case known as loving versus virginia was brought by richard and mildred loving. they spent a year in jail for violating the ban on interracial marriage. the main question, did this violate the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment? the justices unanimously decided in favor of the lovings and ended all race base restrictions on marriages. the couple's story was made into a movie last fall. ♪ ♪

there's about 1200 spaces that now have multi-stays meters. the enforcement starts today. there is no grace period. it's going to cost two bucks per hour to park. you have about three hours of a time limit to park at these multi-space meters before you have to move your car. you have multiple payments here. you can use your park mobile app or use your credit card. a lot of people simply would come here and leave their car all day. take a listen to one guy that we talked to. >> i would routinely see the same car in the same spot day after day, which would indicate to me it wasn't a tourist just coming to visit the museum for an hour or two. >> reporter: remember, guys, this is seven days a week. it is from 7:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night that you have to pay the multi-space meters. two bucks an hour and

found kayla handcuffed. she had a chain around her neck. she was chained to the wall that way. she had been sexually assaulted by her kidnapper. minutes after finding her they asked her about her boyfriend, charles car very. >> he shot him. >> he shot him? >> he shot him. >> who did? >> todd kohlhepp shot charlie car very three times in a chest, wrapped him in a blue tarp, put him in the bucket of a tractor, locked me down here and i have never seen him again. >> they found three bodies on his south carolina property including car very's. kolhepp confessed to those murders along with the shooting death of two others in 2003. he pleaded guilty to those and other crimes. denied by pride? the local lawmaker says she was left out of capitol pride festival. congressman norton's explanati
