alexandria fire house into a polling place. voters, as you head out, a thing to know here, polls will close at 7:00 p.m. if you are in line at 7:00 p.m. you will still be able to vote. you will need a valid photo i.d. that could be a passport, valid driver's license or state i.d. you can go to a voter registration office and get yourself a voter photo i.d. you have to do that today. if you do not have a photo i.d. you will have to get a provis n provisional ballot at your polling place and you will have to have until friday to get that i.d. you will need to chazz a ballot that's democrat or republican. some polling places are going to be schools. you are asked not to drop in

african-american history and culture is going to open on time after the security scare that they saw last night. park police quickly clearing people after they got a call about a suspicious package on the second floor. they determined there was no threat. the scare made visitors question whether the museum is being targeted since a noose was recently discovered inside. >> it is frustrating because this is something new that it seems like it's only happening here. >> very orderly and calm and people were i guess just very frustrated that this continues to happen. >> brought that concern to the park police and they say they don't believe the museum is being targeted but they wouldn't say what the suspicious item exactly was or whether they believe it was put there intentionally. five minutes after the hour. after hours of deliberating the jury had more questions about bill cosby's case. they will start talking again later this morning. cosby is acc

good morning, everybody. tuesday off to a muggy start. just like yesterday, code orange. it means the very young, elderly and folks with heart and respiratory issues need to limit their time. the heat wave ends today. five-day forecast with cooler temperatures coming right up. >> i like that. sounds good to me. taking a look right now at a couple of issues on the beltway. inner loop between saint barnabas blocking two lanes. outer loop blocking one lane. unbelievable video here showing a new york city taxi in flames. take a look. this happened yesterday as temperatures soared past 90 degrees there.

two passengers were in that cab when smoke started rising from the hood. the driver pulled over and asked them to get out. wasn't long before flames started rising. firefighters were able to contain it in about an hour. no one was hurt. we do have more details, right, aaron, on the roof incident at uproar lounge restaurant in northwest d.c. well, we know now it's going to remain closed at least for now. firefighters say there were too many people on the roof when it started to give on sunday. the lounge's main building and adjoining building are closed until officials can determine they're safe to reoccupy. we've learned the building inspector has launched an investigation into the construction work that was underway on the building at the time of the incident. it's still at least four years away, but folks are talking about the district's first wegmans. it plans to open its first store in what is now the fan a

headquarters. they'll get the first look at the plans from a developer at an advisory commission meeting. at 7:30 at the second district police station. the plans include office space, retail and some housing. the redskins will be in ashburn for mandatory minicamp. we could learn big news about the team as well. his name is lynn forkes. starting off his cross-country adventure today and he's doing it to raise money for the nonprofit called hope camp. it connects kids to cancer from his kids and classmates. he got the idea when his son matt was battling leukemia. he's battling each day of the race to a child with cancer. many reach out with letters inspiring him all along the way. >> i'm trying to get to the finish line in annapolis, maryland. these kids are fighting their own mortality. they're fighting for their own survival. if there's ever time i need inspiration, i think of the children and how they need to overcome it. >> adding to this his son matt is joining his as a videographer and blogger. you can join him across 3,000 miles. search race across america. leon harris, news 4. >> i just love what h

and online banking, physical money really is becoming alien to our kids. there are four things you can do to counter this new reality and set our kids up for financial success. number one, teach them the power of earning. nothing comes for free, and your little ones can start earning this as young as preschool. give them small chores to complete for rewards. number two, provide a modest allowance. pay them in cash and help them set a budget. decide how much goes to charity, savings and spending. have them count it each time they earn more so they can see how each is growing. >> it will become practice. it will be instilled in them so later on they're practicing savings. they're practicing money management. >> number three, bring them back to reality. a couple of dollars here and there add up quickly for in app purchases so the next time they ask to spend a few bucks on a virtual treat, offer them a real one instead, like an ice cream cone so they can see the value.

4's justin finch is live. >> the popular national museum of history and culture will open on time this morning. this comes a day after the museum was temporarily evacuated because of a suspicious item. attorney general jeff sessions is getting ready to face some tough questions from lawmakers today. he's set to testify before the senate intelligence committee in their russia investigation. it's the same committee that former fbi director james comey testified before last week. and that is one of the stories the white house will have to deal with today. the other centers on a rumor that president trump is thinking about firing the special counsel in the russia investigation. >> and news 4's molette green is in the newsroom now joining us with more details. molette? >> reporter: angie, aaron, this rumor could play a role in that hearing with attorney general jeff sessions today. it gained traction after a supporter of the president's told pb

philadelphia sister station explains what's happening today. >> reporter: the jury did not come back with a verdict last night but they did come back with a question. they had a question from bill cosby's deposition from ten years ago. they wanted to get more confirmation on what he called pills, pills that were his friend. the jury discussed the case until a little before 10:00 weighing the charges of aggravated indecent sexual assault. the day started with the defense making its case in just six minutes calling one witness to the stand. by comparison, prosecutors took a week to lay out their case against the comedian. the district attorney hammered home that cosby's accuser was a victim of cosby while they focus on constant's statements branding them as inconsistent and unreliable. he did not take the stand in his own defense. the jury is due back here at the
