we have it all covered this morning. >> breaking news first. the russian military is claiming the leader of isis has been killed in an air strike in syria. let's get right to kooeir simmo. what can you tell us? >> it was carried out almost three weeks ago, russia waiting until this morning to make the announcement saying it's informed the u.s. that al baghdadi may be dead. the use of the word may means the fate of a man some call the invisible shake is still unclear. unconfirmed reports this morning that the leader of isis is dead. al baghdadi seen her delivering a sermon in 2014 claiming a charge area of syria, declaring an islamic. mugs administration saying he and up to 30 fighters may have been killed on may 28th. posting on

according to information being checked via various channels the leader of isis was at the conference and was liquidated by the strike. the u.s.-led coalition saying this morning it cannot confirm the reports. the raid targeted a meeting of isis leaders in their raqqa stronghold in northern syria, now believing baghdadi may have been at that meeting. but there have been a number of previous reports of his death and his where abouts have not been known for some time. this among the few pictures of baghdadi before he emerged as the leader of isis after splitting with al qaeda. he was officially designated as a terrorist in 2011. the u.s. now offering $25 million for information leading to his capture. but isis has lost considerable territory after increasing pressure from air strikes by the u.s. and its allies. secretary of state s

have announced it. but also interesting, the russian statement doesn't say he's been killed with certainty. they also say he showed up at a meeting with about 300 other militants. for a guy that's considered to be a tactical master mind, it seems unlikely he should show up to a meeting with po 300 other militants. >> if it's true, isis has had defeats on the battle field and expanding their reach to attacks in europe and elsewhere. compare this, the killing of baghdadi and the impact on isis to 2011 and the killing of oh saw ma bin laden. >> that's a great question. the immediate battle field, this was a tactical master mind. he had command and control of the battle field in iran and iraq. he was an inspiration to the organization. his death be disrupt the ability of the organization to fight

broken bone. he's in critical condition but improving. also here one of the capitol hill police officers shot in the ankle. in the meantime, all of congress and much of the community turned out to celebrate not only the victims on that day on wednesday, but the heros as well. and doing what else but america's favorite past time? >> on the field in washington, both republicans and democrats shared home field advantage. coming together at nationals park in the wake of wednesday's violence. the teams praying together on the field, moments before david bailey, one of the wounded officers who fought back against the shooter, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. the other officer, crystal griner, still in the hospital after being shot in the ankle. congressman roger williams and zach barth both made it to the game. the

some of the victims still hospitalized including lobbyist matt mika she was shot multiple times in the chest and arm. and steve scalise, who was shot in the left hip. the bullet fracturing bones and damaging internal organs. vice president pence visited the hospital on thursday. >> congressman scalise is a good man. he's a principled leader and a patriot. >> at last night's game, members of team scalise were in the stands with many players wearing gold lsu hats j scalise's alma mater. >> democrats easy defeated republicans last night. they all raised a record amount of money for their charities. >> that's really good to hear. tom yk thank you. also this morning, we're learning more about otto warmbier, the american college freed from a north korean prison where he sustained brain damage and is now in a coma. his father is speaking out.

>> reporter: good morning. doctors here at the university of cincinnati medical center aren't revealing the prognosis going forward. the family wants to keep that information private. his dad says simply they are happy to have him back home. this morning new video of otto warmbier playing in the snow with his tour group just before the arrest that changed his life forever. now home, otto's father, fred, is barely able to contain his emotion. >> i'm able to talk to you on otto's behalf, and i'm able to wear the jacket that he wore when he gave his confession. >> reporter: after 17 months in captivity for allegedly stealing a propaganda post yerks the family just wanted to be part of his life. >> i knelt down and hugged him and told him i missed him and i was glad he made it home.

describe his condition as unreimportancive wakefulness. >> he has spontaneous eye opening and blinking, however, he shows no signs of understanding language. >> reporter: with no apparent physical trauma, doctors say they don't know what led to his conditions, but they raised questions that it was botulism poisoning followed by a sleeping pill. >> you didn't find any evidence of botulism whatsoever? >> that's correct. >> reporter: the state department says it just learned of warmbier's condition at the beginning of this month. on monday a u.s. representative and two doctors visited warmbier in north korea. after discussions the north koreans agreed to let him go. this morning the warmbier family has bittersweet feelings. >> relief that otto is now home in the arms of those who love him, and anger that he was so brutally treated for so long. >> reporter: obviously there are a lot of unanswered questions

including more in the russia investigation. it's expanded to now include the fngss and business feelings of president trump's son-in-law jared kushner as the president pushes back on the fact that he's now under investigation. kristen welker has more on all the headlines. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the president traveled to miami to announce new changes to the u.s. cuba policy. his agenda overshadowed by the breaking developments in the russia investigation. the president pushing back once again calling it a witch hunt. aiming to undermine the probe which is enveloping not only him but now those closest to him as well. this morning new signs for russia probe is reaching into new places. "the washington post" reporting special counsel robert mueller is investigating the business dealings of jared kushner. an attorney for kushner saying we do not know what this report

examine financial records to look for anything related to russia. mr. kushner previously volunteered to share with congress what he knows about russia-related matters. he will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry. the inquiry at the top of the president's mind? mueller now investigating him for possible obstruction of justice after he fired james comey. >> do you believe you're under investigation now? >> reporter: the president not responding to reporters, but later lashing out in an afternoon tweet storm thursday. trying to shift the focus to his former rivals, hillary clinton. why is it that hillary clinton's family and dems dealing with russia are not looked at but my nondealings are. she leeched e-mails and had husband meet with ag days before she was cleared, and they talk about wrong doing. candidate trump repeatedly warned a clinton presidency

cosby's sexual assault trial are entering a fifth day after jurors announced they were deadlocked on thursday and the judge ordered them to try to keep reaching a verdict. stephanie gosk has more. >> reporter: good morning. one thing can be said about this jury. they are taking their time. they've been deliberating for more than 40 hours. they've asked six questions about evidence and testimony. they have been at it roughly as long as the trial it. on thursday as you mentioned, they came to the judge to say they were deadlocked on all three counts of aggravated indecent assault. andrea constand accuses cosby of drugging her and assaulting her in 2004. cosby says what happened that night was consensual. the judge sent the jury back and said try again. he can do it a second or third time, but then er

donny row and ricky dubose captured in tennessee after being on the run for three days. authorities say the former cell mates murdered two georgia prison guards during their early morning escape from a transport bus on tuesday. late thursday night, it was finally over. >> these are murders, cold-blooded murders. and we did what it took to bring them into custody. >> reporter: on thursday afternoon, police say the convicts broke into this house, holding a husband and wife at gunpoint, forcing the wife to cook for them. then tieing them up using a belt on the husband's arms, wrapping his hands in socks. >> she had made some soup, she said, beef stew. they ate it, got the man's boots, some of his clothing, some of his valuables. >> reporter: the men also stole the couple's jeep and were s

rolling gunfight. >> i got a subject in the back shooting out. >> reporter: they crashed the vehicle and then took off on foot as they disappeared into the woods, police converged from all directions. >> pair up and run the back roads and try to keep them hemmed in. >> reporter: neighbors got their guns and called police. >> they were attempting to carjack or steal another vehicle from that resident. the homeowner stepped out and held the people there by gunpoint until another neighbor came to assist him. >> they're talking toward the complain nant now with their hands up. they laid on the ground face down. >> reporter: minutes later, the suspects were finally taken back into custody. in that rolling gun battle down the interstate, bullets were flying and it did hit other cars on the interstate. fortunately, nobody was

is called aaron hills. this morning the pilot is hospitalized. an ntsb investigation is underway. >> reporter: as the advertising blimp deflated and fell from the sky in flames thursday. golfers at the u.s. open watched in horror. >> oh, my god. >> it went down in a hurry. within five minutes, there were three fire balls. >> reporter: the pilot is out, but he is injured. the blimp's only occupant made it out before the explosion but suffered burns on almost 40% of his body. seen here being carried out on a stretcher, thompson was flown to the hospital where he remains in serious condition. the scene of the crash in wisconsin just a half mile from a golf course where thousands were gathered for one of golf's most iconic tournaments. >> you think this is a cool thing and next thing you know it's on fire and going ward the ground. >> reporter: the advertising company tweet third down picture
