breaking tonight at 6:00, police set to give an update on a missing teenager in fairfax county. police say the girl was last seen near dranesville road. starsy spencer is life nearby with breaking new information awaiting a press conference as well. darcy? >> eric yashgs we're right here at the adam center. it is very well known mosque here in the sterling, virginia, area. i just got off the phone with fairfax county police with breaking news update on this case. a very tragic end to this missing person case. fairfax county police now confirming what we had been hearing from family and friends that police have in

the remains of a female that they do believe was the victim in this case, that person, the remains were found in a pond here in sterling, virginia, right around 3:00 this afternoon. so just a few hours ago. now police tell me that they haven't have in fact t sneenomeo into custody that they believe is connected to this incident. but that person has not yet been charged we want to show you video showing this young lady that we're talking about. she was just 17 years old. again, we're now confirming that her remains have been found. she was identified as nabra hofanine. what was told to me is there was an event here at the adams center late last night early this morning. she had walked with some friends to a shopping center and was walking back towards the mosque

there may have been an exchange of words, something happened with someone who pulled over in a car. friends are saying that she may have been assaulted and that the person had a bat. now police are telling us that they did confirm that there was a bat found. they collected that into evidence. we do not know if she was a a. saulted with that bat. but when the friends came back here to the adams center, they reported this and then someone here got in touch with police, reporting this as a missing person's case. and so police have been on this case since about 4:00 this morning. can you see from the video that they were out searching for her all throughout the night. and again swresh, we have confi the last couple minutes that they believe her remains have been found in a pond just a few hours ago and not far from here. so we are awaiting a press conference involving fairfax county police and the loud on county sheriff's office. we understand the two

graduation. word of an arrest in this case bittersweet for them. derrick ward has more from the grieving parents. >> reporter: three suspects in custody, 24-year-old edgar garcia and 19-year-old roger garcia, they're brothers. also arrested, a 25-year-old jose kianes. they face first-degree murder charges and conspiracy charges related to the murder of two 17-year-old boys. they were killed as they sat in a parked car in montgomery village on june 5th. >> i want to thank all the police officers, detectives, chief of police, all the that made this possible. >> news of the arrest are bittersweet for the father. police say tipsters said they could be retaliation for a robbery last december. they say the robbery victim was the at the tire glfriend of jose

a man from prince george's county faces charges in a crash that hurt a maryland state trooper. police say he hit the trooper's car so hard that it plowed into the vehicle that the trooper was trying to help. the crash happened early this morning on the shoulder of i-495 near allentown road. we're told everybody involved had to go to the hospital with minor injuries. this is at least the 38th time this year alone that a maryland state trooper has been hurt in a traffic s

captured the man wanted in a terrifying crime that has people in arlington on edge. want to show you this new video from inside the atrium on key boulevard. in the video you can see the suspect walking up to the door signalling somebody inside to open it. and then walking inside. police say that he knocked on several apartment doors claiming to be with building maintenance and then sexually assaulted a woman that answered that door trying to get this video for you. arlington police say that they are devoting a lot of resources to this case. >> while we continue to work our leads and this is a top priority of the department we're using lots of resources from different areas. we're working with our regional partners. but the public plays a key role in this. we want you to take a look at this surveillance. we know somebody out there will recognize that individual. we just need you to come forward and report that information. >> there's that video. so this attack happened on sunday, may 7th.

darcy spencer is on the scene with now more emerging details on the case of this missing teen in fairfax county that authorities have just revealed to us has been found dead. darcy? >> erica, that's right. this is not the ending that people were hoping for with this missing teen case. we want to show what you is happening right here behind us right now. we're at the adams center. it's a very well known and popular mosque here in sterling, virginia. this is where her family and friends are gathering. we understand that they've been getting information and updates today. and, of course, praying here for a different outcome. as we've been reporting, the 17-year-old had gone missing very early this morning and we have confirmed with fairfax county police that they believe that her remains have been found right about 3:00 this afternoon. so a few hours ago in a pond. and the 21500 block of ridge top circumstancent

it looks like it's about two miles away from the mosque here. let's take you back to what happened very early this morning. apparently some young people were here at the adams center and had walked up to a shopping center not too far from here, a mcdonald's perhaps to get something to eat and were walking back towards the mosque when there was some sort of encounter, altercation with a man who apparently pulled over in his car along dranesville road in herndon. and some of the friends of this teenager said that this man had assaulted their friend and police confirming that they did recover a baseball bat. we do not know if she was beat within that bat. but we do know that was recovered from the scene. so police have been searching for many, many hours. this was reported right around 4:00. and they've been in a wooded area in different areas searching for many, many hours. and again, right around 3:00 this afternoon these remains
