so in 2014, about 27% of cars were leased. so they're rolling off lease this year, they will be sold as used cars, some of them certified, some of them not. but also we've seen a lot of technological innovations go into cars in the last couple of years. the ones than don't have them are available for much, much less. >> a lot of those cars still in good shape. >> yeah. >> you say there are four conditions you want to follow. let's start with this first step. >> when you're comparing used cars you're comparing them based on the car itself, the make and the model. the mile aej on the car, the conditions on the car and the omgss on that car. and depending on whether you want a car just to get you where you want to go or a much newer one, that will determine where you're going to shop. so if you're just looking for a car to get from point "a" to point brks "b," your train station car for example, that's an older car and you're going to look online, the craig's list, facebook marketplace. but if you want a new car you're going to try to go to a dealer

financing and sometimes there are terrific deals there. right now bmw offering 0.9% financing, ford and chevy offering 1.9% and 2.9% on used cars. that's very valuable. >> let's move to final step and that's cost. what should we be expecting as we pay for these used cars? >> we talked a little bit about the captive financing. people tend to think about buying the car they don't tend to think about financing the car. if you pay a high interest rate, that can add up. if you're into the going with that manufacturer's financing, you want to walk in with financing. credit unions have made a great market for used car financing, so look at that. but also compare the costs of owning the various cars that you're looking at, insurance, taxes, maintenance, kbb and edmonds both before v these handy little widgets that let you compare the ownership lifetime of the cars. >> thanks so much. good to seep sfwlu nice to see
