officials from the white house are going to be meeting with chinese leaders later today, they will talk about adding pressure on pyongyang. angie goff has more on what happened to warmbier. >> reporter: what we have is news video held to honor the student, otto warmbier. uva community coming together to mourn the loss of their fellow student who was supposed to graduate from the school this year. as far as what officials say about his death, still no official conclusion on how otto warmbier died while being detained in north korea for trying to steal a propaganda poster in a trip last year. the 22-year-old was released from north korea in a coma. whether this is a catalyst can redefine the u.s. and north korean relations remains to be seen. we learned that his funeral, public funeral

for charity tonight. this time the women, the 9th annual congressional women's softball game gets under way 7:00 p.m. in d.c. the game pits members of congress against women of the d.c. press corp to raise awareness for young women with breast cancer. the game is on track to be sold out. one week after a man opened fire at a congressional baseball practice in alexandria, the field it happened is back open. a look at how it is bringing the community together in a few minutes. >> great to see the kids back out there. right now, police want her home, so does her family. this is 16-year-old that's missing. lives on ridge line drive in montgomery village and she is not the only girl missing in maryland. another was last seen tuesday at home in frederick. she's 13 yea

police are asking you to call if you have any information on either girl. angie goff is back at the live desk with this extreme heat out west and what it means for you. angie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, another day of extreme weather. we know anyone, any of you that planned to travel to and from the west, maybe you have loved ones, you can be impacted. temperatures remain in 120s throughout the week in parts of southern california, nevada, arizona. scorching temps causing power outages and already dozens of flights had to be cancelled yesterday because of those conditions. the air is just too thin to fly when it gets that hot they say. excessive heat warnings are in place now and also growing concerns of wildfires and streets and roads buckling. we will keep an eye on it. back to you. >> even for phoenix. that

scale. that determines whether or not states would be able to pick up the slack. it is a big question that will come out with details in this plan. >> why is this process behind coming up with the plan been so secretive in the first place? >> reporter: because according to lawmakers on both sides, only a handful of people have been working on details. supposedly 13 lawmakers, bipartisan group who were giving input, but some of them said they haven't seen it, that senate leadership kept it close to the vest, concerned about rushing a vote, and trying to get the vote done before the july 4th break. they're concerned about rushing the vote when a lot of members haven't had a chance to see or read this bill. >> tracie potts. thank you. it was one week ago today when a gunman opened fire at a congressional baseball practice and today we're expecting to get more information on the investigation. the fbi and other law

down around the gulf coast, still in gulf of mexico, could be bringing rain this week. remnants of it. won't be a tropical storm when it gets here. going through the week, we have shower chances. nice day to dine outside. parts of the area may notice more cloud cover today. we will see sun and clouds by lunchtime. mid-80s. this afternoon, temperatures close to 90 degrees. still warm by dinner time, mid-80s. here's a look at the area. we have thin clouds around. more cloud cover south and east of the district. that's where we find showers in parts of virginia, virginia on the eastern shore. if we take a wider look, there you see that tropical storm cindy off the coast of louisiana, a lot of heavy rain around the gulf coast states but eventually this storm system will get wrapped up in a cold front. that moisture heads our
