sanders. he is in the thick of it in alabama right now. kerry, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. the impacts from tropical storm cindy being felt from florida far west to texas. here on dolphin island in alabama you can see the impact of the storm. the rising tide continues. you can see some homes threatened. this morning there are more than 7,000 people without electricity as power crews try to keep up with the impacts of tropical storm cindy. this morning tropical storm cindy's loosely defined eye making its way onthshore with a massive wet punch. 12 inches of rain in spots flooding coastal towns and spawning water spouts in the panhandle. winds of more than 50 miles an hour taking down trees, leaving a baseball field in ruins. in alabama cindy has already

it makes its way friday into saturday into the tennessee river valleys. the moisture will spread to the east. as it comes on shore, weakens on land, we'll look for rain in the southeast and midwest. then it will interact with this cold front pushing down from the north, and that's going to squeeze out even more moisture, more southwest through the mississippi and ohio river valley. by saturday into the northeast looking at severe storms as the tropical fed moisture continues. here is the flash flood risk. the highest around the eastern parts of texas into louisiana and parts of arkansas. but as you can see, by tomorrow we have got a flood risk all the way from alexandria, louisiana, up into bingamton, new york. we're talking about 3 to 5 inches of rain. some areas picking up as much as a foot. nashville to memphis, they'll see 5 inches of

this. it will be a big impact throughout much of the country. >> incredible to look at the map. al, thank you. thanks very much. a possible motive emerging in the chilling terror attack at the airport in flint, michigan, where a police officer was stabbed in the neck. a canadian man has been charged as the fbi launches an immediate investigation. blake mccoy has the latest. blake, good morning. >> reporter: matt, good morning to you. the airport in flint is back open after the lone wolf attack. this morning we are learning more about the attacker who came from canada and our law enforcement sources tell us was not previously known to the fbi. overnight police in canada searching the home of a michigan terror suspect. a simple person, calm, i never saw anything bizarre says his neighbor. according to the fbi, 50-year-old amor ftouhi left his home in montreal last friday, entered the u.s. through new

flint, michigan, where he is accused of attacking an airport police officer. lieutenant jeff neville, father of two, is recovering from a stab wound to his neck. >> he is a good friend of mine, yes. it was very terrifying to see something that quick. >> reporter: the attack happened before the security checkpoint of flint bishop international airport. witnesses say ftouhi yelled all all allah akbar during the attack which means god is great. >> reporter: the attack is similar to one last september at a shopping mall in saint cloud, minnesota, where another knife

country. now the insurance institute for highway safety says the three states that started with legalizing pot have already seen a higher risk of people getting in accidents from drivers high on weed than even people in neighboring states. more and more drivers today are taking the high road. and the results already are deadly. those killed on colorado roads by a driver high on marijuana are up for a third straight year. >> you smoked 30 minutes ago, and you're saying i'm not going to find any weed in this car. >> reporter: sergeant rob madden is with the colorado state patrol which now makes almost a fifth of dui arrests for pot. >> although marijuana is legal, to possess and to use in the state of colorado, it is not legal to use marijuana to the point where you are intoxicated and drive a motor vehicle. >> reporter: a new study out s

institute for highway safety finds colorado has had 21% more crashes than its neighbor, utah, since colorado sparked the trend, a hototal of 38 states n allowing medical marijuana in some form. eight and washington, d.c., permit recreational pot including oregon and washington state where the study also found crashes are up. >> we see a 3% increase in the risk of insurance claims in the states that legalized marijuana. we can't explain it by any other means. >> reporter: the marijuana policy project, which pushes to legalize pot, acknowledges that states that made marijuana legal saw some increases in collision claims. but adds, there is no evidence that marijuana contributed to the accidents. back in colorado, more than half of marijuana users in a state survey said they think it's safe to hit the roads after smoking pot. so the states rolling out ads like this. >> rolling one up now could mean

rub it in. my sort of personal favorite is to take a spray that's more of a lotion and spray it on and then rub it in so you can see where it's been. >> i like this segment a lot. >> the combination of these kinds of sprays together are great. kids love them. they're super fun. >> this is a cool one that i have not seen yet. we'll show you and reveal. this is a new one. it is mousse! suntan mousse lotion. >> suntan mousses are fun. you put them on, rub them together, spread them on. they are not greasy and they disappear easily. okay. so you have a lot on there. we can take this and rub them off. >> i got it. >> they work really, really well. what i am loving about all these new products is that they are products you can use on any part of your body. we have primers for under your makeup. you can apply a tinted moisturizer that has sunscreen on so

enjoy the weather with a nice, simple meal. before you send out invitations you need a go-to menu, caterer. contributor elizabeth has that covered. great to see you. >> hi. >> we're going to make a couple great dishes and serve the dishes on a beautiful table. what have you done down there? >> this is my favorite time of year. normally you invite people over. scrubbing baseboards. trapping the dust bunnies inside your house. take them outside. we took pots planted in the garden, put them on the table. farmer's market bustling with fantastic produce. throw it in the middle. all edible and incredible. >> a little fancy there. do you mind when people do plastic plates and forks and knives? >> absolutely. i want this to be easy. rarely do you have eight of anything. always something is broken or missing. mix and match. that makes it even more fun. >> what are we making. >> avocado

salsa. >> simple ingredients. >> five-second rule. >> exactly. >> we pull that out. now we'll cut this. you have a rolling ball, a sharp knife. you want to give it a flat side. i like it to be a little bit chunky but remember you want it to get on the chip. we have beautiful funs. >> different kinds of tomatoes. >> lime juice. we have also got olive oil. and then all of these wonderful things. >> name them as they go in. >> green onions. cilantro. jalapeno peppers. we did not add the seeds for that. it's not going to be as hot. you can do it if you're bad, matt. you want to add them, add them. it will be a little bit more spicy. >> the colors look great. >> you can make this in the morning. let it marinate through the day. we have enough lime juice that your avocados will not turn

brown. >> serving it with the great chips. >> the blue chips make it look fancy. pork shoulder. talk about the ingredients. >> the pork shoulder from your butcher. seasonings. bay leaves and a little bit of dark beer. when you see these in the store -- when i first started cooking i thought, how do you turn that into anything. it's simple. you put hot water on it, and then what i like to do -- they're going to want to float because they're so light. take a plate, put it on top, press it down. that keeps it submerged. i'll reserve the liquid because it has a ton of flavor in it. we might need it when we're making this. this is where we're going. we have more lime juice, sugar, then turn the blender on and blend it. you may have to add a little bit to get it -- >> to make it moist. >> right. >> that's

for at the end. >> here is the gorgeous shoulder. people ask me do i season all sides and the bottom? yes. if you're going to eat all sides, honey, we're going to season all sides. with the paste. with this, since we are on tv and don't want to get too dirty -- >> how far in advance do we do this before we cook it? >> you can do it two days before you cook it. it will be better. if it sits in the refrigerator and gets worked in. at home i would throw that in the sink and get my hands all on it. this is where we are with it. we're already sweating some onions. and then we want to add -- garlic, we have coriander, oregano. bay leaves. add that to it. >> the big shoulder goes in on top of that? >> goes right in. >> guys, how is this? >> wonderful. >> the smells that came outwh
