i will show you that in a few minutes. 9:00 on the dot. right now you probably see a lot of emergency vehicles around the pentagon station, and it's just a drill and the station should be opened by 2:00 this a afternoon. >> and a lot happening with metro. we are working for you this morning on this sunday to help you sort it all out. derick ward is live at the dupont station with everything you need to know. >> reporter: while you were sleeping metro was making more changes. now, there's a new paradigm of operation and costs with metro and a good way to think about this, this will cost you more or less in service. and today will be the first time metro riders will see these new hours or weekends. today metro opened at 8:00 a.m., and will close at 11:00 p.m.

until 11:30. if you are going out for weekend plans for metro you have a little more time. they will close at about 1:00 a.m. in the morning. so that will get you back and forth to wherever it is you are going. now, since 2014 we have not seen a fare hike, and all that changes today. rush hour will cost 10 cents more starting monday and monday will be the first rush hour under the new pricing paradigm and you will pay $2.25 for a rush hour trip and at most 6 bucks for a rush hour trip. off peek like today you will pay 25 cents more, and that starts today. if you are riding outside of the rush hour you will pay at least $2, and at most $3.85. not just on the rails, 25 cents more, a 25 cent increase on bus fare.

yesterday morning, and all d.c. firefighters taken to the hospital are now out after the massive apartment fire. the flames broke out around 3:00 yesterday morning, about 200 people were forced to leave their homes. you can see from the video firefighters had to carry small children down ladders as well as rescue some adultadults. larry minor lived nearby and talks about the commotion. >> i looked out my bedroom window, i seen the flames shooting. >> the d.c. fire and ems are still at the apartment building and they will stay there to watch for hot spots that could reignite, and no word on what caused the fire. nobody was hurt after the large restaurant kitchen fire in northwest d.c. you c

administration official said they choked when it came to acting. a mother facing serious charges after she left her two children in a hot car back in may. both kids died. investigators say she locked them in the car as a punishment and then went inside the house to do drugs and take a nap. police say the mother first told them the children actually locked themselves in the car. temperatures reached the mid-90s on that day. right now people are forced to flee their homes in california because of snow-melt. some people at a rv report south of fresno say they have no plans to evacuate however sheriff deputies have been asking people to leave since monday. in utah, a wildfire in the southern part of the state continues to spread. it has already reached
