and you're going to hear from the man who was injured while trying to help a girl that was dangling from an amusement park ride. first at 11:00, an accident takes the life of a woman who just left her bible study class. good evening, and thanks for joining us tonight. i'm erika gonzalez. tonight a community is remembering a woman who touched so many lives. >> reporter: friends and family gather at the house of praise in the deanwood neighborhood in northeast d.c., the place where rob robin fitzgerald spent some of her final hours. >> she will always find her way to church. >> reporter: a few hours after leaving the

was killed by a stray bullet friday morning. her pastor broke the news to her pastor the next day. >> i dropped the phone. we talked a little bit, and he gave me some encouraging words. >> reporter: fitzgerald was visiting a friend when the friend's brother allegedly fired shots through the wall during an argument. fitzgerald was hit. the friend said it was an accident. >> our kids are supposed to bury us. we're burrying our own children. so it's time to take a stand. >> reporter: fitzgerald was the mom of three kids, and one of them had just graduated from college. she and this little girl used to call one another pink. she released these balloons in her

behind the accusations. and maxwell adds they look forward to collaborating with the department of education to resolve this. a football coach from northern virginia is being remembered as a man of integrity, a kind of guy who inspired the people around him. leona leona leonard schultz coached football. a box truck hit schultz. his nephew was critically injured in the accident as well. state police are now investigating this scene. they've already charged the driver of the truck. in a district a devastating fire has turned deadly. d.c. firefighters found a man's body today while searching an

street in d.c. firefighters were hurt trying to put this out. while investigators work on finding a cause, the people who work he live here are staying at a nearby community center. a nice night out there. been a very comfortable day with temperatures topping out to 80s. and now we're looking at some clear zie skies as we continue into the overnight. we're in the 70s for most of the region at this point. 76 degrees is the current temperature. again, we've got a little bit of cloud cover out there, but it's gnat bad. low mumidity. temperatures are going to be in the low to mid-70s. just a very nice morning to get out and about. we have a nice night to open those windows. maybe a few passing showers tomorrow

frightening moments in the skies. there have been several scares over the last few days leaving passengers shaking, quite literally. as nbc's steve patterson shows us the pilot even told the people onboard to pray. this story is all new tonight at 11:00. >> reporter: for 90 terrifying minutes panicked passengers trapped in the sky with this. violent shaking that started with a loud bang. one passenger said it felt like he was in a washing machine. it happened about an hour into air asia flight d 7237. 255 passengers bound for malacia. the shuddering so bad the plane forced to turn

some temperatures are going to flip into the 50s and 60s tonight. now, we are trying to get a little bit of isolated activity moving in here. this is just clutter from where the radar is. but really we're looking at clear conditions as we continue to the overnight hours on this sund sunday. when you wake up tomorrow morning, this is what it's going to feel outside. mid-60s in washington, and but then you step outside, look at that low 50s in the shenandoah valley. mainly sunshine tomorrow morning. we're going to take those temperatures in the the low to mid-80s, but very comfortable conditions. as we get into thursday, that's when the humidity starts to build back

that humidity comes back in. we're by 90s to the weekend, so of course we're going to feel it. and of course we have to introduce some daily chances of thunderstorms. but not tomorrow, though. just increases clouds as we go into the evening. but plenty of shunshine through the morning. we topped out at the mid to upper 80s today, so we're going to be just a touch cooler tomorrow. by tuesday we could have just a few light showers across the region, highly isolated throughout the area. anything we do see will be extremely light. then we clear right back out, and by wednesday we're looking at plenty of sunshine. once again temperatures back into the low 80s. but tuesday with the clouds and isolated chance of showers, we're only going to make it into the 70s. and then by thursday, as i said, humidity builds. er
