gas leak was killed when the house exploded and burst into flames. it happened yesterday in lancaster county, pennsylvania. someone called the gas company to report the smell of gas. firefighters ran into the house to rescue people inside. two other people were hurt. four other homes were damaged. in washington state, investigators will spend the day trying to figure out what caused this amtrak train to derail outside of takoma. four train cars went off the tracks. rescue crews were able to safely evacuate more than 250 passengers. there were no serious injuries. >> do your job! >> protesters in maine flock to the state capitol over the weekend to urge lawmakers to do your job. it comes as the state is in the middle of a government shutdown. lawmakers failed to reach a budget agreement. governor chris christie

the closing of nonessential state services after he and lawmakers did not agree on the budget. christie is getting criticized for spending time on a beach with his family that he closed as part of the shutdown. one of mexico's famous volcanos erupted sunday morning in dramatic fashion. it spewed ash into nearby communities. the ash cloud rose 6500 feet above the crater. there are more than 3,000 volcanos in mexico. only 14 are considered active. this one active since the 1990s. impressive. a bald eagle getting treatment after a scare over the weekend. >> someone spotted the bird in southwest d.c. saturday morning. the humane rescue alliance said it was having trouble breathing, was lethargic, couldn't fly. they posted pictures on its facebook page.

where someone self-investigated with an assault rifle. >> reporter: police arrested the man responsible for the attack last december. less than two weeks ago he was sentenced to four years in prison for firing inside the restaurant. in northern virginia, fairfax county police are investigating how a man who was walking was hit by a car and killed. they say he was trying to cross richmond highway at belvoir dive around 3:00 yesterday morning. medics rushed him to the hospital. he died a few hours later. he lost his brother in a motorcycle crash, now a man from prince george's county wants more people to think about safety the next time they go out for a ride. david mum ford's brother died thursday. we're told gerald stockton was going at least 130 miles per hour when he lost control on bran brandywine road and crashed. last night people gathered to honor his memory. >> he is in a better place. with that being
