wet blacktop as we make our way to 495 here. you're seeing light fog, not too bad so far yet. no rain falling. cars pretty much going at speed out here. the conditions at this point are not terrible. but you still want to take your time out here. we saw some wet spots making our way to the area so be careful as you make your way to work this morning. but also bear in mind, too, there could be standing water at points and also fog conditions could change. back to you. >> all right. justin finch on the road for us, thank you. it's 4:30. right now president trump is in hamburg, germany, getting ready for a high-stakes meeting with russian president vladimir putin. a live look for you here overseas where the president will play a key role in today's g-20 summit. trump and other world leaders have major issues on the table from terrorism to global trade to climate change. it's already creating some heated protests. >>

at the news desk. >> reporter: protesters clashing with police for hours and tensions are still high right now. want to give you another live look there in germany as high stakes meetings are about to take place. this is near the g-20 summit. armed police they've been in the area trying to keep the peace after violent outbreak that came overnight there. upwards of 10,000 protesters spilling out across the city. that's what we have been seeing. there you see setting fires, hurling bottles and rocks and fireworks at security. police responded as well with force, using water cannons, tear gas, batons, pepper spray, trying to keep this angry crowd under control. now police are saying these protesters belong to an array of anti-trump and anti-capitalists groups. with more demonstrations you can bet expected to continue well into the day. back to you guys. >>

molette for us, thank you. a look from capitol hill n a few minutes we'll go there. tracie potts will have a look at today's closed meeting between president trump and putin. a look at our other top stories this morning, a court victory for the trump administration's travel ban. a federal judge in hawaii has ruled grandparents and other extended relatives of people in the u.s. are not exempt from the ban. the judge said he would wait for a supreme court ruling on the case. so for now the government can block people from six majority muslim countries even if they are the grandparents or grandchildren of people in this country. a man executed last night in virginia and his death is sparking controversy for two reasons. william more vo pronounced dead at 9:15, sentenced to death after killing a hospital security guard and sheriff's deputy in 2006. this is, of course, not video of that. mental health advocates tried to spare his life because he suffered from a disease and disorder. this is the first execution unde

procedure. critics say it was intended to keep any missteps out of public view. we will take an in-depth look at that controversy coming up at 5:30. hyattsville police searching for a former uber driver accused of sexual assault. urgone was working for the company when the assault happened. this happened in hyattsville. his car is a dark colored 2015 toyota rav4 with virginia plates. he is no longer an active uber driver. today the man who is responsible for a [ inaudible ] in prince george and montgomery county will be sentenced. we expect him to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. last month pled guilty to shooting and killing his estranged wife and two strangers last year. the killings happened over two days. darcy spencer will be inside the

follow her on twitter @darcy spencer for updates from there. the man that escaped deportation in loudoun county only to be recaptured is headed back to court today. the man appeared on wednesday and asked for an attorney. his preliminary hearing set for 2:00 this afternoon. he has been deported five times before his escape. molette green at the live desk. a train going through penn station to face big delays this morning. new jersey transit saying north jersey coastline train with nine cars, it was traveling in hudson river tunnel towards pen station when the derailment happened. this was just after 9:00 last night. about 180 passengers and crew members were on board. no one hurt. new jersey transit saying it's working with amtrak which owns and operates the station to find the cause of the delm

same lane. while venus williams is playing at wimbledon today her attorneys will be in court. the tennis star is being blamed in a car accident last month. the passenger in the other car later died. williams' attorney filed an emergency protective order after learning the attorney for the other driver wanted to inspect williams' suv and download data from its computer. right now 37 wildfires are burning into 11 state on the west coast and in colorado hundreds are preparing to leave their homes that are directly in the fire's path. in los angeles a number of fires were sparked by illegal fireworks on the fourth of july. all of this comes as the west coast is facing a dangerous heat wave. 18 million people are under advisories and forecasters are predicting record high temperatures this weekend. a cleveland city water vehicle fell into a sinkhole. the worker was investigating a possible water main leak when this happened. look at that. he says there is only a small crack in the road when she started working on it. luckily the worker didn't fall into the sinkhole. crews w

molette green at the live desk following a developing story out of seattle. a delta airlines plane bound for beijing turned around when a flight attendant was assaulted. a spokesperson for tacoma international said a first class passenger assaulted a flight attendant about 45 minutes into the flight. several other passengers stepped in to take him down. police were waiting on the tarmac to take the man into custody. and two people were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay. the flight was rescheduled. back to you. >> thank you. right now, tensions are high in hamburg, germany, ahead of today's g-20

you're looking at a live picture where president trump and other world leaders are arriving ahead of today's meeting. there is a lot at stake and several major issues on the table. much of the attention will be focused on president trump's first sit down meeting with russian president vladimir putin. >> right. and a lot is on the agenda. the question is whether russia's meddling will come up in the discussions. tracie potts on capitol hill with the high stakes leaders they will address including the election. >> exactly. maybe including the election because while there are a number of things that president trump and president putin could talk about today, their joint fight against isis in syria, syria, and the syrian government, ukraine and russia's interference as the u.s. would put it in ukraine, north korea, russia's own nuclear arsenal, nothing is being more highly watched or anticipated as whether or not the president will bring up this touchy issue of russia meddling in the election. especially after he took a

approach yesterday when asked about it, and the president said that russia may have interfered but so did other countries maybe they did or didn't. they didn't take a committal role on this. some analysts are wondering whether he will bring it up at all. >> we know that vladimir putin isn't the opening big meeting for president trump today. who else is on his schedule? >> right. he's meeting with the president of mexico, where the border wall and immigration will likely be a big issue, and he's also scheduled to sit down one on one with theresa may the prime minister of britain. there have been some sense tensions over intelligence and shared intelligence over british authorities and nato and the u.s. involvement in support of nato could be a big topic in that meeting too. >> thank you. it is 4:48. this morning congressman steve scalise remains in serious condition after another surgery to deal with an infection this ti

scalise tolerated the procedure well. scalise was re-admitted to the intensive care unit on wednesday night. the house's third ranking republican had been recovering from a shooting at that congressional baseball practice in alexandria last month. several others were injured too. scalise suffered the worst of the injuries. a judge has ordered a mental competency examination for the man arrested for bringing guns and bullets to trump international hotel in d.c. the judge based his ruling on, quote, disturbing conduct when he violated his release terms. after he was arrested in may mulsle was ordered to stay out of the district. a few weeks later he was reavested after facebook photos showed him in d.c. and the judge said he told a friend the case against him is a cia [ inaudible ]. a montgomery mother not competent to stand trial. police kay catherine hoggle was the last person to see her kids alive

say there is a chance she could be well enough down the road. jacob and sara hoggle disappeared in 2014 and yet to be found. they have been building a murder case against catherine hoggle. another hearing scheduled for the end of august. police say damage at a fairfax elementary school was deliberate and want your help finding the people responsible. construction crews found destruction and signs of arson around white oaks elementary school in burck on monday. fairfax police sent us this pictures. authorities believe the vandals struck overnight. the school is out for the summer and the building is under construction. starting today another nonstop option for international travel. you can fly directly from dulles international airport to india. air india's first flight from new delhi is expected to land just after 7:00 this morning. it's the only direct flight to india from our area. the flight will be offered three times per week and takes about 15 hours each way. people can now chompp down on
